Good thread Neon
The type of bowling I used to always struggle with was a left arm quick around the wicket. I used to be more of an offside player so having the ball darting toward middle and leg got out the ugly heave which was never pretty.
As for the old men who thought they could bowl spin, well they used to get hit out of the park. Used to annoy me when I played cricket and seeing these old men think they could bowl a few overs which used to change the game as the batsman used to love it.
neva played cricket with such technicalities.. It was just bowling vs batting ..only type of bowling i face was fast , slow, offspin and legspin.. I always had a pretty good eye and could never get out if i wanted to..I was very good hooker though..damn very good... A probing line and length deliveries would trouble me.. And once I batted , I always faked something and go outta field, cause fielding always bored me to hell.. Chasing those balls around..
"I was very good hooker though..damn very good"
Sorry I had to..apologies
I was going to make an comment on that too.

Get your self a name man
I say we give him one....

I was always good at pulling though. Always got good results pulling.
Anyway..back to the thread...
I remember some wickets, whenplaying park cricket...you useed to be fine leg in your match...but standing at Gully in another..you had to watch both games..
and then theres always that awkward moment when the bowlers ball in sync....scary stuff

..you HAVE to put "rattle and roll"...after that
sheikh are you based in UK or Nepal?
but have to say, cricket is one of the sport when you can be fat , lazy and still be good at, except fast bowler.....its one of reason i loved cricket, and in cricket also i loved to only bat.. Would search every oppurtunity not to field...... Football was different, to play 10 min , you would need lot of stamina...
kash, i am in nepal, kathmandu..

You cant beat a day out in summer...playing cricket. Perfect
its not perfect lefty, if you're the opener like me, batted first and then got out in the first over... Then the only thing that would run in my mind is how to escape from here now.
No..chilling then with the lads..probably get a football out, have a kick around.
Back in the day..probably blaze a few heads...and just relax.
I dident mind fielding...and putting in the odd over.
i loathed fielding... Such a bore... In the sun, torturous.
I didn't mind fielding either. Used to be a laugh seeing grown men sledging in broken English
I was more of an fast bowler who could bat every now and then.
here i see the cultural difference...you guys played cricket knowing all its titbits, but in my country when we used to play, we were like the first generation of kids to play cricket..cricket was just becoming popular , ie just 9/10 years ago to 4/5 years ago.. Lot of fight would occur simply debating the rules.... Football was always the mainstream sport here when we grew up... Cricket came up too late.. But played and enjoyed cricket also fully.. Cricket during the days and football during evening.. Those were the days
Considering all that then you have to say Nepal have done very well to make it to the T20 World cup.
the only sporting heroes we knew of as kids were Ronaldo, rivaldo, beckham, national footballers, pele and maradona in the text books but we were so unknown to the names like sachin , ganguly, ponting even as far as 11 years ago... Knew them first from some bollywood movies , at first would get cricket confused for hockey .... Such an alien sport cricket was even while living in the capital of south asian nation... Thanks to the progress of national cricket team, media revolution and other south asian nations prowess in this sport, cricket is now no.2 sport in Nepal and Neapl actually is in a world cup, abiet a t20
Have you guys heard the proverb that goes along like, 'cricket is game played by fool(murkha) and watched by bigger fools(mahamurkha)...it was very popular here.
Never heard that phrase before.
Beckham was a Nepal sporting hero . He wasn't much of an footballer though.
I think BA Baracus made up that phrase.
I realy dont thik that saying woudl go down well in either India or Pakistan.
you would ge lynched for that sort of blasphomy
