Robins in the Examiner. ... " we want to entertain" that could have been taken from any of the other 37 games this season! Change the fooking record! How about. .. "we need a win by any means "

Admin can you move that to the Huddersfield page ! Sorry snooker fans!

Ding out in the first round of the PTC finals!

Robertson too. And someone tipped him for the worlds on another thread. He fluked one WC, never will a draw open up like that again.

Still going to be in the running for the WC, but again I can't see past Ronnie. Going to take a massive effort to stop him or an terrible off day for the Rocket.

Thats just it though isn't it, You can still have a terrible day but come back and recover, thats why the top players ALWAYS win the worlds, since 2007 its been, Higgins, Ronnie, Higgins, Robertson, Higgins, Ronnie & Ronnie.

Not surprised to see Higgins' name three times in that list. The master of comebacks, the format of the Worlds is right up his street.

Matches just getting under way in the PTC this afternoon - Bingham in action.

Murphy v Robbo first round. Only in snooker could you have such a broken ranking system.

Was it an open draw for this one? Like what they do for the Masters? I know that's different with the best 16 players etc, but still.

The draw was based on prize money won in the PTC events series. The trouble is that they are all minor events so it's not going to be an accurate draw position based on how good the players are. They would do better to use all money won in rankers, minor and major; but then you'd probably get cretins like Hendon complaining of lack of lack of fairness. Hendon wouldn't know a proper principle of "fairness" if it walked up and introduced itself to him in the street.

Haven't worked out how to edit on this forum yet. So just ignore the second instance of "lack of" in the previous post. Sorry about that.

Seems an odd way to do the draw, especially with Murphy v Robbo being a first round match.

Ronnie through with ease earlier 4-0. Are all the matches this week on Eurosport?

Barry didn't seem to care about that. Barry is a good bad thing. On one hand he can get the deals and he has contacts, so the game will always be kicking, but on the other... he and his cohorts don't seem to care that UK Championship is now a piddle or that these PTC events have too many ranking points and are half-lotto.

A mixed bag. I know why they do it... but best of 7 just isn't right for a ranking event.

I remember when you had to win 16 frames to win the U K,

Barry is also clueless (or doesn't care) about long frame v short frame formats. He seems to think that snooker is like tennis or darts... where the best always win. But snooker can be a 1 man game. It's the only game (well, billard games in general) where your opponent can have one shot and lose the entire game from it.

best of 9 isn't good enough, but best of 7 is just ridiculous really.

best player nearly always wins, that should read.

Best of three or best of thirty three. Ronnie is the king.

They're not, are they? The PTC this week is in Preston, then the China Open is in Beijing.

Bingham pulled out of the China Open?

His first round opponent Martin O'Donnell has a walkover it says.

Sorry got the thread title and what was on tv mixed up. Thus leading to the China open in Preston. I'm thick as a ghurkas fourskin.
