Yes.

Let's get them all in our first team immediately. Let's get rid of the old rot yadda yadda

.....good thinking pundit !

The current players have turned to dross...let's move on with the kids !

I had no idea of that Cinci ......you must be quite proud of that record

Not sure about that Pundit, though i do wonder who is going to be the next to break into our first 15-16.

Fingers crossed we wrap up promotion with 3 or 4 games to spare so we can give a few of them a taste of first team footy.

There's a couple of £200m 12 year olds who'll be featuring for Burton in the next ten years

Thats excellent news, hope they get game time too, though of course i will just settle for the likes of Doherty and Price making the breakthrough

I'm probably asking too much but I'm still uneasy.

We have three youth players who we will have developed as first team regulars... Doherty, Price and Dicko (all 21 or under). I'd hoped for at least two more. Although Batth and Jacobs are only a year or so older.

McAlinden and Ismael have not stepped up enough to force Kenny's hand yet, which is fair enough. I'd hoped they would.

Thats football.

I think we have a good amount of younger players involved now, though i do get where you are coming from, would have liked to have seen a little more of a few, Zeli and Mcalinden the obvious two.

Thought Zeli looked pretty good then got benched and even Siggy in terrible form was getting games ahead of him.
McAlinden, i did fancy to show what he has but in fairness he has not really been given a sniff, i would hope he would be one who does get a few games toward the end of the season once promotion is secured.

If we wrap up promotion with a few games to spare, I would hope that we go all out to win the League not give young players a game for the sake of it.
The younger players should "force" their way into the first team and if they are not good enough at the moment, leave them in the reserves or send them out on loan.
The first team is not a proving ground to test out players.

Siggy was not getting games ahead of zełe at all. Zele plays on the right and siggy started the season as third choice striker and fell to fifth choice before we offloaded him to some Scandinavian outpost. Shame you can't let go of your agendas cinci and join in a sensible debate occasionally.

It's going to be harder next season for the youngsters to break through when we are at a higher level. But this win for the u21s is great news if it means we as a league one club can avoid relegation from the top flight if academy teams. There are plans to make this league more high profile and even have the games televised next season. If that makes the games more competitive then it will help the youngsters progress. But as we will sign a few players in the summer then only the exceptional few will get a chance still

Let's face it........Siggy was shàt !

Would you drop any of the current squad to play him ?

Not seen much but Reid has impressed me - what do you think DJ ?

posted on 25/3/14

Reid was the guy signed by Deano I think. Not much of a recommendation but he seems like a good prospect and has been used as the lone striker in recent games which is never easy. Him, Eusebio and Keita look to be good attacking prospects. Torres and Parry look good in midfield, and Cranston as a left back. I guess all of those will be looking for loan experience next season while hopefully the likes of McAlinden and Ihiekwe will be ready to join the first team squad.

I think Reid's a Jackett boy isn't he? Didn't he sign after this season had started?

LMac aint going to make it neither is cassidy or zeli, if they cant shine in this league for us then they wont make it at a higher league.

I know some players take longer to mature but we will not have the opportunity to give them a run in the team the higher we go.

Didnt we sign him from wrexham then loaned him back for a month or so?

Far to early to say McAlinden is not going to make it. He has only recently had league experience unlike Cassidy who was scoring goals at this level 18 months ago. It's that impatient attitude that causes us to lose players with potential. Seems like unless they are superstars overnight they have no future. There are a whole host of players that wolves released that have gone onto better things by their mid 20s. Sam Vokes will be a premier league player in August while we are trying to get re-established in the championship.

I'm somewhere between the two of you on this. I don't believe the fact that players can't get a game now proves they will never be good enough...BUT I think it's the case that it is a good indication that they won't make it for us without a good run in the team.

Take Vokes for example, does it look like he's really come good? Absolutely. Would we have had the luxury of the time it has taken for him to develop? Probably not, he's taken a lot of game time to become a good player and Burnley's system is a really great fit for his qualities and the way he plays.

So even if we'd given him the time required, he still wouldn't have enjoyed the benefit of being a team's focal point or having a team set up to the way he plays.

Sometimes players just need to drop to the level where they can play week in week out in the first team and contribute enough to justify it while they improve and they also need to find the team, management, teammates that fits them best before they can start to grow and really meet their potential.

On this basis, I think we're unlikely to see Ismail and Mcalinden break through. Part of the reason for this is the kind of club we are - we're a striving club, we have the means to be pushing for success, we have the backing to bring players in, we have the resources to try and play decent, flexible football rather than overachieve with a very set style, this all means we have the pressure to achieve, whether that's promotion from League One or Championship or survival in the prem. Every season for us is our biggest season. This just isn't conducive to developing players because we want it all now and have just enough resources for that to be realistic. We don't need to play youth together for years and hope they come good, we don't have the time.

It's sad in a way, but I'd still rather be in our position. But I do think people need to take this into account when they moan about managers never playing youth.

Siggy started on the right against Walsall and replaced zeli on the right prior to that, not sure where I crossed the line, the comment was critical of Kenny's decision, not defending siggy.

Cyp, winning the title is not important, giving players opportunities to experience first team football is, the boost younger players would get if they come in and play well far outweighs picking up an irrelevant league title.
