I like him. Think he offers something different and he has a real affinity with Arsenal fans.
I think there are certain issues with his fitness/conditioning. Look how often he comes off (when he starts games) on 70 minutes, I don't think that's a tactical thing.
Want him to stay. As you say he's a bit rigid but his end product is probably the best in the team. I think he's best played at counter attacking style, which we don't seem to play.
He's another stop gap.
Part of the temporary, sticking plaster crew who have been bought to keep us in the top 4 during our financial crisis.
Will be dumped along with Arteta, Flamini, Kallstrom and Cazorla as we begin to buy Ozil class players.
Good end product, rubbish at everything else, decent squad player
It would be incredibly stupid to sell him. He has shown in the last 2 games what a weapon he can be. Shame he couldn't bury that chance yesterday, those are the chances he usually buries.
Pod makes a difference in the final 3rd whether it's a goal or an assist
Beat finisher in the squad and usually put chances away.
Foolish to sell him
When he gets the right ball in the right place he can be unstoppable. Unfortunately he doesn't really fit into our system and as such those chances tend to be few and far between, meaning most of the time he doesn't offer much. But he's shown in the last couple of games that he's probably worth having around just for those particular moments.
We struggle to create chances and score goals, so we should sell a player who creates chances and scores goals...

I don't know what to make out of him. He has a good dynamic, strong and a good attidute. Unfortunately it didnt come off for him at Arsenal so far. I want him to stay. Good character to have in the stressing room.
I think personally he will stay and Wenger wants him to stay. Not sure if his private life influence his performances and if he decide to leave because of it.
I think the only problem with Podolski is that nobody can decide on his best position. He's inconsistent on the wing, and his performances as a lone striker are less convincing.
It's possible that he's best suited to playing just behind the main striker - but if we ever did employ a system where we used such a role, it's fair to say that Ozil would take precedence.
When we signed him he had an ankle injury which was operated on in the summer. Its taken a while for him to fully recover and I think has only just regained fitness, even now maybe not 100%.
Another thing with Podolski is he is a very emotional player and I think he gets frustrated with Giroud which affects his play. Put a new WC striker alongside him an I think he will come to life and the flashes of brilliance from him will become the norm.
So I say he MUST stay. Him, Theo and a fast clinical WC striker and our attack will be phenomenal.
It also raises the question that we play less on the break now with a slow striker so if we have 3 fast forwards I would expect tactics to change as well and more breaking out from the back with pace.

"stressing room" . Great typo
When people say 'Podolski doesn't fit our system', are they referring to the tedious tippy tappy style we all want abandoned? Or the direct counter attacking approach he has often excelled in?
Gunnerthru - what's the opinion in Germany on Podolski's best position?
I remember when he was partnering Klose at the World Cup in 2006 - a lot of people where saying it was out of necessity, and that ideally, Podolski should be playing from the left - but that doesn't seem to suit him either. Where does he normally play for the national team these days?
Another thing with Podolski is he is a very emotional player and I think he gets frustrated with Giroud which affects his play.
Mine was only typo and your's was just ..............
amazing.
Watch the WHU 5-1 game from last season.
That is the sort of football fans want to see, it is the sort of football Liverpool have been playing since last January, and it is the sort of football we need players like Podolski and Walcott for.

Coming from someone who thinks Giroud is good I'll take that as a compliment.
And you never learn, you always make it personal. Youre an idiot.
not bothered honestly.
He is good to have in the squad, but I wouldn't want him as a starter, but with the injuries we get..
KPPR, Löw thinks that Poldi is at his best on the left. He didnt even use him when we hadnt even a CF available with Klose and Gomez out injured. He tried the false no.9 with Özil or Götze instead.
In Cologne he played also from midfield but that was more the case when they had injuries.
The public opinion in Germany is that he is a left winger.

Very good point
Our best football is when we have pod and Walcott on the flanks

Out of curiosity GT, what do you think is the reason for Podolski's inconsistency since he arrived? Is it simply the front three system we use?
I wouldn't mind seeing him leaving, providing that his departure opened up funds and a squad position to accommodate a player more suited to our system.
It's not that I don't think he suits our 'tippy-tappy' style; I just don't think there's a position that he suits in the current formation.
I think Wenger brought him in with the intention of developing him into a lone forward, much like he did with Van Persie - he made his debut in that position, and Wenger has come out on a number of occasions and spoke of his ability to play as the lone forward. However, thus far, it hasn't worked for him when he has been asked to play that role.
He has a lot of experience playing as a left-wing-forward both at club and international level, but for me, he doesn't have the pace or directness to really establish himself as a top-class player in that role.
When we're dominating a game, he can provide a useful option, as the overlapping runs of the full-back can give him freedom to tuck inside more and get in and around the box where he is most dangerous.
But when we're being pegged back, I don't think he contributes a great deal in terms of all-round play.
He's a good option to have, but I think there are realistic targets out there who are comfortable coming in off the flanks when we're in control, but also apt at providing width, directness, and generally just a good attacking outlet when we're under the cosh.
With this in mind, as much as I rate him, I would be happy for us to sell him in the Summer.

Back when we signed Poldi remember I wasnt that much excited about that. KPPR, remember when he was at Bayern? He was as inconsistent as he is now. Bayern was not satisfied with his performances.
