no defenders on the bench?

The defenders that we have available are all playing!

Fletcher pressed well in 1st half against Aston Villa, I know the gulf in class between Villa and Bayern but he still has more energy than Carrick and Fellaini

Maybe we're hoping to contain for as long as possible then to bring on fresh attacking legs later on, that's as optimistic as I can see it.

One thing I would say is that we have a tall team today. Maybe we've been working extra hard on set pieces. Other than that I've not really anything.

We can't contain the garbage we face in the premier league, how the fúck are we going to contain the likes of Muller, Ribery and Robben?

Maybe Mayes has gone for a surprise 352?

With Jones Rio and Vida at the back.

So we're going for the Stoke City approach?

Is it cold and wet in Manchester?

I can't see a manager making such a drastic change in formation in such a big game, far far far too risky.

We've signed up Jon Walters on an emergency loan- penalty taker is sorted as well!

Exactly. So many deluded people on here thinking we should just attack Bayern without understanding exactly what Bayerns strengths are.

I'm sure Moyes will send on Kagawa and Adnan if things are going semi well.

Believe it or not people, managers and players don't want to be going into a second leg 3 or 4 nil down just to satisfy fans wanting us to attack.

Rob

I was kind of joking about that approach, it's far too negative against a team like Bayern who want the ball and have the players to unlock a fragile defence.

If Welbeck is playing behind Rooney then Kagawa will surely see he has to leave, if he cnnot get played in his best position in Europe against Bayern who he knows well then he never will, want him to leave so he cannot develop his career and talents at a club and manager that appreciates them.

Fúck Bayern, we are Manchester United we play quick counter attacking football with a quick turnover. Valencia is fast, but not good, Welbeck is also fast but not good and Fellaini is slow and not good- do you see the fúcking pattern here?!

If those 2 are playing up top then I would say that 100% Rooney would be behind Welbeck, not the other way round.

We needed Fletcher in the middle to press the Bayern midfield

......................

Not sure how you thoink Fletch is going to do any pressing. He has looked well below average in nearly every game he has played this season.

He had one really good seaon for us, the rest was pap.

Fergie's Barmy Army

Some of our players are fast and some are slow?

You just know the first sub will be after 80 minutes and when we're crying out for Januzaj or Kagawa we will see a straight swap Young for Valencia.

I know BBC seemed to see it as the other way which seemed a bit strange to me too, surely Welbeck's pace in behind is what Moyes' is looking for with Giggs and Rooney the supply playing it over the top.

That's laughable VC, with players like Valencia, Fellaini and Young often sharing the same pitch as Fletcher, one cannot ever say Fletcher is the worst on the pitch

Something like that often does happen, he always makes such late changes when it is often too late.

Not sure how this line up is going to prevent that. Unless Bayern do not turn up, we are not going to be an attacking threat.

Do you guys not understand we have Jones and buttner at full back? We need to look after them. Valencia and Welbeck break very fast and also offer proper protection that other players like Adnan just can't.

The key today is not to get battered and have a chance in the second leg with evra and Rafael back.

Away goals people. We're trying not to concede any.
