yeah. going forward i think holtby may have a role to play.

this article is about our best eleven though, and holtby clearly aint in it !

not even sure why people are bringing up lamela v holtby - they play totally different positions so its not one or the other.

its lamela v lennon - and i would rather have a lamppost than lennon.

please can you point out all the premier league assists that holtby as provided….

We can't as he was never given the chance... Can you point out Lamela or chadli or paulinho or Dembele?

No we brought up Lamela as you had him in your best XI after showing nothing yet laughed at other posters for having holtby in it for showing nothing

no, but for all the others i can pick out moments or real class.

for holtby i cant pick out moments, i can pick out one moment - his goal v fulham.

paulinho has been totally misused, so no point even starting with him.

and the handling of lamela has been a joke. but he doesn't compete for a starting place with holtby anyway so not sure what the relevance is of bringing up him (or chadli)

By that theory Lamela shouldn't be in it as he has not even played 5 full games for us this season!

AS it happens I have Hotlby further back with Sandro to pick up peices and set off a quick attack rather than one pace Dembele and Pauliniho!

Holtby has urgency which we have lacked

thats because lamela is up against lennon who is terrible,

whereas holtby is up against some midfielders who actually have good games from time to time, like sandro, dembele, bentaleb, eriksen, etc

not sure why you cannot understand this…. i have made this same point about four times in a row now.

dembele had some very good games earlier this season - has been poorer since he has been playing with his hip injury, and he's clearly not fit atm.

actually tbh, chadli has to be in the best eleven at the moment.

even though he wasn't good on sunday, he was still involved in the move every single time we looked remotely dangerous.

good player.

I just gave my opinion really.. Lennon would get in my team if I had to play it tonight, Holtby could hardly make a claim to our midfield either.

In answer to the OP - no I don't think my team has started a match. Certainly not in that formation

Paulinho 2 assist in 24
Dembele 1 in 27
Chadli 2 in 20 - looking very good given a chance
Eriksen 4 in 19 - class been facked without him

Holtby 2 in 20 - so similar stats to the rest ( half the games in a very poor Fulham team )

Edin

Has Eriksen as a 'modric' type player interesting

My dream XI for us though is:

Lloris
Walker Kabs Verts NEWLB
------Sandro-Eriksen
Lennon-Lamela--Chadli
-------Soldado
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Looks decent

I just found out Lamela hasn't played for us this year, such a shame. I like him as he looks like he could play as a striker, but also like Chadli he's been brought up (and bought in) to cut inside and shoot. Lennon has never been able to add goals to his game, and Townsend's a loose cannon.

Hengy, hearing Ajax fans talking about how Eriksen influenced games reminds me of us talking about Modric. I definitely think he should be on the ball as much as possible all over the pitch.

All that said I am a sucker for Lennon's pace on the break, with Eriksen feeding him it'd work better..

Next season

Don

I'm pretty sure Townsend has mainly played on the right since academy level.

Edin

Interesting not sure if he has the same fight in him as modric did though, def in a fast forward thinking passer in there as haven't been the same since modric left

Good read pav

Said earlier I believe we have a great squad of coached right and only need a few changes

I dont think it is the fight that is the issue as both players seem similarly driven. I just worry about the engine and IMO Eriksens lack of a long passing range (when compared to Luka).

With Sandro beside him though the defensive duties can be accounted for slightly. Arsenal often play with an Eriksen-like player (Rosicky) in centre mid.
