Player for player it has to be Liverpool. How that group of players won a champions league is truly baffling. The only player in the team that was world class or even above average was Gerrard.

I dont think Alonso was that good at the time.. he became quite a player in the years since, but at the time nobody was considering him a top player.

Err Chelsea anyone? Liverpool as well but Chelsea tortured everyone getting to the finals and eventually winning on penalties.

The 2004 Porto side had some very good international players. Dortmund in 1997 were solid but not spectacular.

Liverpool in 2005 takes the prize though.

At some point in they're career, yes!

You still think that in 2005 they where below average?

On their best days 2 of those chaps were very good. Carragher was immensely average though.

Sorry but none of those three were ever world class.

good players but never great. Carragher couldnt even get a game for England. Awkward.

Liverpool in 2005 win hands down

OP's clearly on the WUM, but I'll still say that 1991 Red Star Belgrade team were one of the most lethal counterattacking sides I've ever seen. Dull final but they were absolute quality before that.

This is one of those occasions where some of you allow petty club rivalry to cloud your judgement.

Liverpool played some fantastic football on their way to CL 2005 victory. They out played some very good teams on the way.

Chelsea on the other hand were aweful.
