Jonker hopefully in a few years we see some results. Have you got a link to the full interview?
Link to thins interview?

Was reading it on my phone in-transit. Give me a sec to find it.
It's clear something had to be done with the Academy. Not going to pretend I know anything about Jonker, but the fact he's Dutch and seems to be highly regarded within the game is a good thing.
Hopefully him taking total control will afford Arsene a bit more time to do the job he's actually paid to do too...
My phone is having a nervous breakdown. I will get the interview breakdown, bear with me.
I should have added, this is specifically an appointment made by Gazidis, which Wenger was (apparently) very happy to go along with. I still find this fascinating (Wenger's agreement, not so much the appointment).
I think he's been at Barca too so can't be so bad. The youth needs a serious shake up I think. Haven't had too many players breaking through as I hoped. Even if not breaking through, the quality doesn't seem to be there.
Right, my phone is on the naughty step. This is not the breakdown I read, it's a slightly condensed version from Goonersphere. I'm in the office now, so have just done a quick Google search and found this. It's actually fairly concise, so do have a read.

The players at the academy with an outside chance of making it into the first team squad all seem to be attacking midfielders too.
Seems really unbalanced.
Hopefully that's an area that's addressed.
Would be nice to see a young CB come through the ranks.
Wow he's been assistant at Barca and at Bayern when LVG was in charge. Managed a couple teams too. I like the sound of this. This year, more than any, our youth team has been pathetic. I heard we were relegated?

Definitely. The reality is, that any 'youth' or 'fringe' players at the club obviously aren't at a level to be considered for the 1st-team. Obviously that's just my opinion, but having spoke to a handful of people who watch the youth/reserve teams, they're of the mind that probably 90% of those players would struggle to be at a decent level in the Championship, let alone the Prem.
Gnabry is a VERY notable exception, but he already has 1 foot in the Arsenal first team squad.
Zelalem is (I'm reliably informed) 'ability-wise' fantastic and has very real potential to have a top level career. But certainly this season, application wise he's been disappointing, to put it politely and physically (maybe can excuse him because he's so young) he has serious work to do to even be considered an option for the 1st-team squad!
Ivan Gazidis: "You have a lot of talents in your youth teams and seems that you're doing a pretty good work on this level."
Coach from Chelsea's youth staff replied with: "So what's the point of that if these children have no chance of playing or being given a chance in the first team?".

Where was this said?
The new rules in recruiting youth should help us a lot, we can sign them from across the country whereas before it was just in the local area.. hopefully our scouts will find the top talents and bring them in. Looking at rival clubs we haven't done that badly overall with Gibbs/Jack in the first XI and a few other foreign youth who've made it though (some not at the club now) but if we could get 4 or 5 local boys into the first team that would be amazing.
I think a Chelsea youth coach was at the Q&A, it's on the link.
I want a MR ARSENAL at CB
Shuffling a promising youth player back and forth between the senior and junior teams is the cruellest thing you can do. Totally destroys them.
It's obviously a longterm thing. Jonker would not have trouble getting himself a job in management or certainly as a number-2. This is something he's going to get nuts deep in. Hopefully it's going to bare fruit.

Of all the metaphors you could have used for a youth team gaffer..........

Hey, there's no room for messing about. I want the guy in charge with something important as the youth development at the club sunk to the nuts, totally ensconced! There's zero milage in taking a 'softly softly approach! Is there?
