Those two examples were obvious examples and both the wrong decision. The De Gea one for me was a foul. He was gaining control of the ball and VVD didn't get to it but his contact caused De Gea to drop the ball. I'm not 100% on the law here but when you don't get the ball and you make contact with the keeper, causing him to drop it, it's a foul, for me.

I could be wrong but that's how I've always understood it.

Actually I think you're right here, Van Dijk's head knocked De Gea's arms instead of the ball and De Gea had two hands on it.

Frustrating but oh well.

This is one of those spirit of the law vs letter of the law cases

I don't know what VVD could have done differently. Unless were making the game non contact on the keeper IMO.

Just because there is contact doesn't mean it's a foul and getting to the ball is an unreasonable barometer in this situation IMO. The player has a right to jump honestly for the ball and the keeper must deal with that. That's the spirit of the game.

Truth is that ball should have been De Gea's, no doubt. He dropped it because of VVD but it wasn't a foul.

I wouldn't be fussed if its given or not either way though, the game is subjective like that.

It’s not like De Gea had possession of the ball, he didn’t catch it.

My main gripe is the fact that the ref didn’t give it and var did but it wasn’t a clear and obvious error. Look at the Origi ion at OT, why wasn’t that given?

It’s the inconsistency

In the cold light of day you can expect that VVD would be adjudged to have fouled Ddg.

Virgs head does make contact with DDG arms, and to be honest you have to feel for the keepers. Example if a player is rushing into the box the keeper has to go for the ball. If he doesnt touch the ball and the keeper makes a slight touch, it's a pen.

No issue with that not being given.

VAR ref Paul Tierneys from Wigan, Manchester, ofc hes going to give the foul.

We've got Oliver vs Wolves with the ref from yesterday as VAR.

Unless he's a Wigan or city fan of course.

Both extremely rare.

im guessing now is the week to play the free hit and get in a bunch of WHAM/Liverpool players? since both play twice this week?

Obviously ill have to stick to my superstition of not putting Liverpool players in my team over fear of jinxing em.

I think the premier league are cheating Alisson out of a clean sheet.

They’re not counting the match against Brighton when he got sent off. Played 70+ minutes without conceding. Surely that’s a clean sheet?

yeah ive seen players subbed at 60mins before conceding and getting clean sheet points, surely alisson did too?

He got sent off so it’s likely wiped the clean sheet points out

thats a bit harsh, ontop of minus points for the red

The Premier League aren’t counting it as a clean sheet in their stats.

In PL Fantasy they list him having been sent off and conceding one goal.

Can’t really have it both ways.

Should definitely be counted as a clean sheet.

yeah thats odd, ive had players subbed off who got a clean sheet when a goal went in afterwards..
