Gotta feel for Lewis, understand Norwich wanted a better deal but this young lad denied a dream move isnt nice, especially if we never go back for him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

To an extent but it could also be a blessing in disguise for him. Let’s face it, unless he sustains a big injury or his form inexplicably drops off a cliff then Robertson will be first choice for 5 years minimum, probably more.

City, Chelsea, Spurs, Utd - all should really be in the market for a top LB. If Lewis starts to fulfil his potential then there are plenty of clubs where he could be a starter rather than an understudy.

Not aimed at Neo, but I’ve always found it quite amusing how so many on here know everything about every player in world football. The truth is they just come out with generic sound bites that make it look like they’ve been following their whole career

I’m quite happy to admit I pretty much only watch Liverpool play and apart from the already established players, know feck all about random players around the world 👍

I know what you mean. I live in the Netherlands and have seen this guy play over here at a club called Willem 2 in the Eredivisie were Chirivella also played.

I was not impressed with the guy but you never know. Playing alongside rubbish centre backs here will make you look poor.

What other teams spend this summer will be a good indicator of whether the owners are being tight or not. I think that’s what Kash said and that’s a fair point.

Obviously we will be outspent by the Manchester clubs and Chelsea (Hazard money) but if we see other premier league teams spending big we will know they are being tight.

If we are suffering as much from COVID as claimed then other PL teams will be suffering as much and likely more than us.

hazard money? half that go on kovacic?

They spent 60 on Pulisic knowing Hazard was leaving in summer and the impeding transfer ban

Why are people comparing us to Chelsea when it comes to transfer policy?

posted on 10/8/20

Chelsea also sold Morata for £50m so they have a lot of money to play with regardless of being backed by Abramovich

Gash at it again. Every transfer window without fail. You'd have thought the trophies would have put a stop to it.

Seems like Groundhog Day every summer doesn’t it?

The window is open till the 5th of October isn’t it and we’ve packed Lovren off, a move I think everyone agreed with. We also been busy getting much needed cover for Robbo at left back so we won’t have to watch Milner cutting back on to his right foot anymore.

Think I say this every year but let’s wait and see where we are come the end of the window. I think the board and the people involved in player recruitment have earned the right to do what they do, how ever they want to do it!

You FSG apologists make me sick. We will never win the league or CL with these jokers in charge. They are lucky they inherited a manager as good as Klopp and bought every player they ever have out of the coutinho money.

Haven't been here for a while so glad to see the discourse is still hot on 'FSG, good or bad?'

I reckon we're not getting Alcantara, hopefully the link was enough to give Naby a kick to let me know his place is under threat if he doesn't show consistency.

Do we reckon Brewster comes back this year?

Only way we go for him him is if Gini doesn't sign, and even if that is the case, wouldn't surprise me if we found a way to balls up a deal for Thiago, so would much rather Gini signs.

What did we value werner at seeing as he went for a bargain 45m?

posted on 10/8/20

Bayern wanted 30m euro seemed very reasonable for someone of thiagos ability. Norwich wanted more than 8m for lewis seemed reasonable too.

Be nice if we could find the next sancho for 7m or the next Sterling. The next Robertson n Gomez would be nice too.

Pretty much everything I've read that is approaching credible says that the club are confident in the players we have used this season but if we sell one we'll replace them.

I'd love a nice new player of banging quality but much as I said last summer we'll still go into the season with really good footballers.

Sure you'll get the same tired cliches such as;

"If your not going forwards your going backwards" or "Players get stale" and similar stuff from people who've never played a season of pro football nor spent any time on a training ground but our players are developing and we are moving forwards.

I suspect FSG are just waiting but lets face it when Edwards gets a chance he's all over it in a flash. You can see from the Lewis transfer that we clearly have a list of targets plus contingencies.

Gini looks most likely to leave simply due to his contract. He'll have no end of offers coming his way but uf he does go I've little doubt we'll move quickly.

The Brooks rumour is interesting. We've definitely scouted him a lot and his skill set is not dissimilar to Gini's role. I suspect Wij would like a bit more freedom in his role as well, he's clearly got goals in him but he's not afforded the opportunity to get in the box much under the current system. Players love scoring goals and he'd be a great fit for Barca or Real. Must admit that uf we had to lise a midfielder he'd be my choice anyway.
