Apparently we have been offered Sokratis this month, and are looking at Renato Sanches for the summer

Maybe he could be that Klavan type signing but it is scraping the bottom of the barrel

Surely better than Henderson, Phillips or Williams?

Not seen him play since joining arsenal really so hard to tell.

Also I assume Renato Sanches has come a long way from his Swansea days?

Sokratis would be a disastrous signing for the wages he would want, even as a cover CB. Hasn't looked the part at Arsenal at all.

Sanches has improved since moving to Lille, whether he is good enough is another question.

I'm not sure Swansea had the greatest transfer policy at the time and it probably wasn't the right move for him in all honesty. Think there were bigger problems and I can imagine midway through the season he just didn't want to be there.

In other news, anybody else covered in snow today?

I won't be happy with the signing either but playing devils advocate I remember when we signing Klavan and he was called the Estonian builder etc but turned out to be a decent signing before we got Virj. Klopp may be thinking he is better option than Williams and Philips and will play the games Matip can't make.

Then maybe magically in March we will see the big man return.

He's awful

Sanches has played 24 league games in the past season and a half since joining Lille. He's either not playing well or he's another injury prone player we could do without.

Facking hell dreading the United game. If we don't win this place will be horrific.

Just want to see a good performance and some energy and enthusiasm from the players, that hasn't been at its best since March!

We were top of the league like two weeks ago.

Yes and the fact this United team are now top shows you don't need to be playing brilliantly to get there.

At Anfield we are getting the results to carry us but since lockdown you can't seriously tell me the energy and enthusiasm has been there like it was before.

I really think people forget that last season we had plenty of games where we were actually very average but we got over the line. That is obviously an important thing but the performance levels haven't actually been massively different in a lot of games. After the Palace game, everyone was pretty sure we'd win the league. Now after 2 poor performances and one decent one where we missed a lot of chances we haven't played well in 11 months! Its crazy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

This.

Sam Johnstone and Karl Darlow each make a save that they very often wouldn't and we're not top so the players lack enthusiasm.

United are being overrated by some. Yes a good side but they have not beaten any of the top sides. Flopped in Europe. Sure they have a chance on Sunday but if we play to our potential and Thiago is in the zone they will find us a very difficult opponent.

Our Anfield record has survived Covid and whenever we need a result under Klopp we always deliver.

It's not just 2 performances though is it.

Villa, West Brom, Fulham, Brighton, Newcastle are all examples where the energy wasn't there, and pretty much everybody except for a few posters on this thread seems to agree with that.

We used to get over the line because we had such levels of intensity that the opposition couldn't hold us at bay, this season teams seem to be doing that fairly easily.

I personally don't think energy levels have that much to do with it. You could maybe talk about how quickly we moved the ball in the WBA game and maybe the Saints game at times but I'm not sure that is about energy. Last season was as much about mentality. Teams we played, even if they went 1 up, and plenty did, almost knew that we'd always equalise or even win it. At the moment, that has gone and it is as much about us missing so many chances. We're not playing well, but I dont think its miles away from last season. And when you consider who we have had injured it isn't a massive surprise that % has dropped. I get frustration, but I also think some of the stuff on here is way OTT when you consider how much opinions have changed since we beat spurs and Palace.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think any fan has the right to be frustrated when a team as average as United now has daylight at the top of the table when we could have gone 6 points clear with the quality of opposition we've faced recently.

Dropping 7 from 9 against Fulham, Newcastle and Southampton just feels like a huge wasted opportunity.

Oh FFS robbing, this club has been a huge part of my life and pretty much the only constant since I was 3.

I've never had the fortune of seeing us be genuine consistent titled challengers

* Title challengers until now. Our window won't be open forever, so seeing us drop points to teams we should be beating is frustrating for me and for many many other Liverpool fans.
