I think Salah is gone...and tbh he was always the most likely one to leave from the front 3. That means finding a replacement which is a headache just thinking about it.

We need a CB to partner Van Dijk.

Then we still need to think about Firmino. Jota can compete with him though.

Wij is also as good as gone so we need a midfielder and one that's more reliable than Ox & Keita. Jones is also a great option here.

Selling your top scorer will be a huge mistake especially when Bobby is in decline and even Mane is looking like he's had too many Klopp miles.

We don't really know if Jota can perform at a level in a full season.

Anyway anyone else intrigued by Tuchel joining Chelsea. He's not all he's made out to be but he's also not as bad as some seem to think he is.

It's always nice to see these managers join other clubs so we can see how they work out without sacrificing our club going through these changes lol

It's going to be huge trying to replace him but I'm genuinely not that stressed over it because Edwards is a master of his craft. I have so much confidence in him finding an adequate replacement.

I'm not sucking Edwards off anymore after the lack of CB in Jan debacle.

If the rumours are true and we do indeed have a big summer, what would you want to see the club do?

For me I'd love to see a top drawer centre back, a central midfielder such as Ruben Neves, a striker (Moussa Dembele from Lyon) to challenge Firmino and cover at right back.

You ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dembele is a headless chicken who needs space to get the best out of him. We need someone who is technically good and can play in tight spaces. A Cavani or Firmino type player who can play through the middle.

He also works within the boundaries set by Gordan & FSG.

Salah will be hard, if not impossible, to replace with his output but it's about improving the team in other areas.

If Salah was sold, certainly I'd expect somebody in the ilk of Koulibaly, Upamecano, Kounate etc to be signed to partner Van Djik, as well as a solid replacement for Salah.

If Salah were to be sold, it would be for an incredible fee which would allow for the signings of these players and then whatever else on top to help in signing another good CM to help compete (or maybe use Grujic if deemed good enough) and then look to bring in another Jota-like signing somewhere.

Sancho is having a terrible season...might be able to get him on a cheap lol

*by his high standards.

Who knows we might have already got in his head.

Remember when we made Van Dijk go on strike and Keita was putting in reckless tackles on his team mates for no reason

When have we ever had a big summer without the sale of a leading player?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
18/19?

We sold Coutinho in Jan but half of that was gone with VVD.

West brom showed it worked, the teams we played after them just kept reaffirming it

Teams have been doing it for ages to be fair. Last season we always managed to get an individual piece of brilliance from one of the front 3. Or we would get a lucky break in the opposition box.

As crap as we have been in recent weeks, not getting the drop of the ball/ricochets going your way in the opponents box has definitely contributed to the bad results.

That's the way it goes sometimes for all teams though and everything has got to be perfect in the build up, execution and finishing and we haven't managed to do that.

There is surprise among Liverpool’s squad and across Klopp’s coaching staff that the club have not acted in the transfer market. Liverpool’s scouting network, who have no say on strategy, consider signing a defender an obvious solution.

I think there's a bit of surprise everywhere isn't there.

It's a bit mad to think the window opened a mere 40 days after VVD's injury and less than three weeks after Gomez's.

I think there are definitely money and HG quota issues but I also think they could have been sorted.

Loads of other clubs have taken out loans on very good rates for example. They could have made a squad space available by demanding less for a player leaving too (so I'm thinking Origi for example).

What the board have actually done is nothing really.

Non football people shouldn't make football decisions. Gordon is a finance guy and hasn't a clue about the footballing side. I think Klopp has told them to sign a CB if we want to compete otherwise we could finish outside the top 4.

A good CB makes a big impact on our attacking play.

Most of the fan base said Williams and Phillips are not good enough and Klopp knew it as well.

Sorry but this is ridiculous. A multi million pound signing must make financial sense, it can't just be a footballing decision or you end up like Leeds

I'd definitely have taken Ødegaard on loan to be honest, brilliant talent. Could inject some attacking flair in midfield that we've not seen this season from Ox, Keita and only in stints from Shaq.

Red Sox have been scraping the barrel a little this off season too and they are in dire shape at the moment.

Maybe it is time for the owners to sell, club has enormous value now.

Exactly.

It's all well and good saying that Liverpool should spend £60-70m on a new CB to ensure CL football, but what happens if you spend that amount on a CB, that the club currently can't afford, and then don't finish in the CL places? Then, as stated above, you end up like Leeds.

I agree that non-football people shouldn't try and make football decisions, but that's the point in the conversations between the financial department, the coaching department and the recruitment department.

I'd rather put in a bid for a short term deal for Edin Dzeko who wants to leave Roma. Our aimless crosses then might actually have a target to hit.
