Kabak needs to iron out this ball watching tendency because it is making him look poor.

For me Schuurs is the ideal defender for our high line game. He is quick and good in the air.

Trouble is, Kabak’s come in and is basically the senior CB, whereas normally he’d have VVD, Matip or Gomez leading the line and talking to him all the time. I suspect a lot of what he’s doing wrong wouldn’t be happening with a more experienced partner by him.

I think yesterday it was Nat who lead the defence. There was numerous times yesterday I noticed him doing the organising and being vocal. Nothing like the VVD/Hendo level but was interesting that he took the lead which makes sense with a kid next to him.

Kabak’s rather timid. Looks more like a waiter than a CB!

Let's not forget that normally a new signing like Kabak wouldn't be in the Liverpool team without weeks of getting used to the team in training.

Haven't had that luxury.

Yeah, I made that point yesterday whilst many were begging us not to sign him permanently....

He's also 3 years younger than Phillips, who many often give a pass because he's young.

Yeah true he is just 20 and thrown into the deep end with no DM infront of him and a different partner every week. That can't be easy.

posted on 1/3/21

Kabak does look out of his depth, he seems a good yard off the pace at this level. Maybe it will take some time to readjust he just seems to get caught out quite often and with the most simplest of things.

How many 20 year old centre backs do you know in the PL?

True enough, it’s a hugely responsible position. He’s been thrown in, from another country too.

Wouldn't expect somebody like Schuurs to do any better at first tbh.

Whilst this is true, when we have hendo and fab shielding the defence they end up primarily dealing with high/long balls

Defenders need to be alert to intercept them, otherwise we see lovren Vs Kane situations where strikers are in behind due to a mistimed attempt at a clearance.

That said, 20, new league, deep end, team lacking confidence, senior centre backs and our midfield shield..

I won't be judging him, I'll leave that to Jurgen

Wesley Fofana. And Leicester themselves have had a highly disrupted season with injuries to key players in key positions as well.

Fofana has been playing with Evans at the back. Kabak has had a midfielder and a defender who Klopp does not rate.

I'm generally pretty positive but I struggle to take much from yesterday's game. Shef Utd are poor, we didnt create much, gave away some gilt edge chances and I didnt see much improvement anywhere tbh.

I was glad yo see Keita back though.

Stat of the day:

Adrian has the highest win rate in Liverpool’s league history of any player with 86%.

I think we’ve found the answer to all our problems folks.

Fofana and Evans have partnered each other in 14 out of 26 league games this season. Yes, much better than what Kabak has had to deal with, but not exactly the definition of stable either.

For the record, I don't dislike Kabak, but he's making a fair number of poor errors, which is understandable given the circumstances, but they are still errors. If he is signed as a back up CB in the summer, that would be good. However, if signing him stops the club from signing a much better CB, then I wouldn't want him.

I dont think we'll be signing Kabak unless we let a CB go (Matip would be my guess).

I think the club have someone more ready made in mind.

Good price £18m though and skill set wise he's decent.

Creatively we were much better but we were playing very poor opposition. They showed no kind of the organisation that previous teams have adopted and beaten us with.

posted on 1/3/21

I'd 100% take Kabak on. He won't be first choice as that will most likely be VVD and Gomez but we need depth in those positions.
