Klopps probably looking at him as a Gini replacement. Reckon hes gonna tame the sheite out his game and put him in a disciplined deeper role. Is a kid though still a lot to learn, just about to turn 21 end of Jan.

I think we’ve got some good youngsters coming through.

Morton, Jones, Elliott might well be the makings of a new midfield three in the next couple of years.
Have to make some considerable progress but I trust Klopp to sort them out or ship them out.

It’s the forwards that are concerning. There won’t be another Salah and Mane so would need to adapt how we play.

I hope we don't start with the milnerson combination anymore. Jones gives us more control in midfield as he doesn't panic in tight spaces. He could be a great player if he releases the ball much quicker.

The issue is when we have Fab, Henderson and Milner. It has always been our poorest combination. I think Milner has dropped noticeably this season so don't want to see him in any combination. Would have been interesting to see how many games Elliott would have got if he hadn't been injured.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Milly is probably done this season, he needs to make room so hendo can start to fill that role, with a new midfielder coming in.

Milly is a last 10 min player but injuries and Klopp negativity has caused him to play too much. I think the penny hopefully finally dropped for Klopp that we need a midfield option which isn't workmanlike to go with Hendo and Fab.

Can't keep justifying his wages for his limited involvement surely?!

Not when the budget is tight. He has to move on for me. Get a new midfielder in and hope Jones and Elliot (the better prospect) kick on next season.

I think he has one more year left on his current deal

We probably needed him this season the most considering Wijnaldum was leaving but it's still poor to place that kind of expectations on a 36 yr old given the intensity we play with.

Elliott's injury really hurt us. Jones eye injury too.

With all of Guinea, Senegal and Egypt looking like progressing at ACON, we really might need to dip into the transfer budget now if Ox is out for an extended period.

Yeah this is also true. You would have thought from last season's gamble with our centre backs that we would've learnt from putting our faith in known injury prone players.

I'm not criticising our spending or lack thereof but we built this legendary team on strategic planning and proactive execution...an ideology it feels like we have just discarded since we won the title.

We now wait for the worst case scenario to happen before we make our move.

It's just baffling. Nothing to complain about because we're still one of the best teams in Europe but it just feels like the entire club needs a refresh...apart from Klopp.

I think it's good that Edwards is going...just hope Ward is ready for the rebuild that awaits him

Lets wait for Klopp to catch up to Kash's wisdom and football brain. Oh when will the penny drop?

Holy crap.

Strategic planning and proactive execution?

How about some patience? We lost Wij with Elliot and Jones coming in to their own.

Klopp is our manager. He's not just bumbling along. I'm sure there is a "strategic planning and proactive execution" which you're eye cannot see just yet. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean its not there.

Our style will take time to mature, unless you want us to just sign top players which would mean the romance of bringing through young players would be lost.

The romance of bringing through young players?

Aside from Trent the rest of the team that won us the title was bought for big money.

We do have serious delusions of grandeur at this club

Big money? Klopps net spend up to the title win was £75m

Robbo was £8m
Trent was free
Hendo was about £20m
Wij £14.5m
Milly was a free
Mane £34m
Salah £36.5
Firmino was £29m
Matip was free
Gomez came from the youth
Ox was £30m

The three most expensive players were Virgil, Becker and Naby (who wasn't that involved)

Hardly fits with your statement.

So you don't know? You just said dip in to our "transfer budget" well that would be the surplus from the last few years showing the headroom right?

You don't know how much cash we have available, considering we have to balance the books over "three" years for FFP or risk large fines, further reducing our opportunity to buy (and three years are rolled in to one due to the pandemic wiping out crowds, keeping our loss making year pre covid on record)

Lets look at Tielemans, who we both want, Leicester signed him for £40m I don't see them agreeing to sell for less than £80m, but let's be kind and assume £60m, that means the cost will be amortised over the next 5 years for his contract, so do we have £12m a year spare cash for the next 5 years?

On top of that hes gonna need to get PAID! At the minute he's on 1.7m a year, he's gonna want more than that right. He ain't coming here on 33k a week.. he's gonna want treble that, possibly even before bonuses, but let's assume 100k week. That's another 5.2mill a year.

So that's £17m a year for Tielemans in the accounts,

So again; you said "dip in to our transfer budget" what is it?

Are you going to start buying shirts and tickets to help fund it? Because you seem to be very entitled expecting something for nothing.

That's a load of hogwash. Only VVD and Allison were bought for big money.

Wij and Robbo were cheap as fack, signings other big clubs didn't look at seriously but Klopp knew what he was doing.

Mane and Salah were bought at normal prices, not big money.

Matip was a free transfer from Schalke (I think it was) who no other big club looked at, again Klopp knew what he was doing.

Trent and Gomes came from our academy.

Milner was basically a free.

And so on and so forth.

Should have read to the end before replying. Excellent work, except that Firmino was here when Klopp joined.

Bloody melliannial fans, I want, I want, I want.

I've a melliannial working for me who I'm close to gassing. It's all I want and no give.

Brought up in a time where there's no winners, everyone is a winner, told they can be anything they want and then reality hits when they actually have to work for it and still don't realise you can't get anything you want.

Yeah I just was trying to add the key players in!

This is the problem with the very vocal nucleus of whingers on here who constantly slate FSG. They don't seem to have a huge grasp on the fees we have paid for players.

We have probably only gone for two ready made superstars, and that's because we had sold one to fund it!

The vast majority of what we sign is players who have a high ceiling and a reasonable fee (hence me justifying my annoyance at Daka) players that are not the finished product, to afford these end product players we need big sales like with Coutinho.
