Dream JA scenario is we get to the FA Cup final as CL finalists and at least level or ahead of City. Will thoroughly enjoy the discomfort of virtually everyone on here, as they’ll hypocritically be cheering for Chelsea….

Little straw poll after looking at the combined Liverpool/Utd thread.

It’s the CL tomorrow, who joins Salah and Mane up front? Diaz or Jota? Or would you still turn to Firmino?

Personally I still have Jota ahead of Diaz but looking at the thread, I’m thinking we might be fairly split on it.

I think it’s fantastic that we can even have the debate, after several years of the same three being the only ones in the discussion.

No question, with all due respect to the big man - I love looking at the bench and not relying on Origi to change a game. Or being able to rest forwards without a massive drop off.

I’m still interested in who you’d go for though…

It’s a toughie. I actually prefer Jota through the middle, there’s a graphic that shows his positioning for all his goals and they’re all in a corridor around the six yard box. Diaz movement and how he carries the ball is phenomenal and he draws defenders towards him, but at this time Mane gets more goals.

I’m struggling to think which forward line up is the strongest tbh, like you said there isn’t really a drop off in threat whoever is picked. I’ll leave it to Klopp to decide which horse he uses for whatever course we’re at 👍

Mane has?

That's a pretty good return

Tactically for the very big games I think we are better without Jota in the team but he's just such a good goalscorer it's hard to take him out of any game really.

It looks like Haaland to City is a done deal.

Just saw that.

That will make them about the most complete side in history for me.

City recent success has been to playing no striker. Having floating midfielders and wide players which teams have found really hard to train against. When Haaland comes they get a number 9 who is very direct. He feeds on quick through balls. City will have to change the way they play which I don't think is going to be overnight.

Only worry for City will be his injury record and you'd imagine he'll also push for a move to Spain at some point in the future.

Read the other day he's going against Dortmund's medical advice and still training/playing on a dodgy ankle so it doesn't affect his move.

Wonder if that'll come back to bite him.

I think Haaland has enough all round ability that he will score a crazy amount of goals in that City team no matter what. Yes he does play on the shoulder, but he is also a striker that scores all kinds of goals. The only issue he has is the amount of injuries he has already had. He'll give City another dimension next season for sure though.

English teams are so dominant in Europe I'm not sure pushing to go to Spain is as big of a problem as it was in the Galacticos/peps Barca era..

I would agree right now, but he's only 21. 3/4 years at City and Spain could be top dog again, and he might want a new challenge.

Also has Raiola as his agent who'll probably be in his ear at some point.

I agree about Raiola.. he likes his players to move

Signing one of the best strikers on the planet is never a bad thing - let's not kid ourselves.

Pep has played with Aguero and Lewandowski...don't think a striker hinders his system

posted on 19/4/22

Don't think anyone's saying it's a bad thing, but the injuries would be a worry given the wages he'll be on.
