Arsenal have spent a lot of money of late. It's only us who deploy a sell to buy and midtable individual wage structure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Our wage bill is among the highest in the league though.

==================

None of this is actually true though.

For example City and Chelsea brought in £84m and £105m through sales respectively last season.

I can almost understand the nauseating entitlement but just making things up repeatedly? Not so much.

True you only have to look at net spend to see we spend the same as city... wait a minute

posted on 21/6/22

Net spend is bollox unless you're selling first team players, which we rarely do.

Both City and Chelsea make more money than us from sales, it's not even up for debate.

We'd be third or fourth again I'd have thought.

Players like Mount and Reece James aren't on huge money.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yet they have players like cho on 180k a week?

It's not bollox at all is it. We're exceptionally shrewd operators in the market especially when it comes to selling players but there's going to come a time in the near future when the club need to put a lot more money in to replace some of the ageing and leaving squad, Salah, Fabinho and Thiago all examples.

usually around 3rd/4th, but im convinced we're one of few who disclose the entire staff of which apparently its 560 + ? where as others its just playing staff.

posted on 21/6/22

i did a rough add up once of playing staff based on rumoured salaries. it was like 165m a year? where the reports were saying 350m or something.?

Gonna pull out a line from Barry here.

I hate us.

Well it's just City that we know about...unofficially

Only City's players, Pep and his coaches are listed under City's accounts.

The rest of them are paid by The City Group. Incredibly smart tbh

Tell me how selling and loaning players who we don't use is a hindrance?

People act like selling players and therefore having a low net spend is somehow a whole different kind of income. It isn't, no more than match day, unless you're selling first team players which we are not.

City have had to sell the likes of Sane, Torres and also replace the likes of Silva and Aguero but regardless they make far more than us from sales as do Chelsea. They also make oodles from prize money.

Using figures from well over a decade to bang the net spend drum is as erroneous as it is boring. The Coutinho money has become a parody for opposition fans and who can blame them.

Fact is we spend fvcking loads, we've just signed two players for over £50m in the last six months. Still people will point the finger.

It really is quite ridiculous.

posted on 21/6/22

yeah so lets just ignore all the resources spent trying to gain sales so we can spend fvcking loads? its irrelevant such a strange argument.

its a model and one we do well, none of its meaningless at all.

I hate that we have good players.
I hate that we win trophies.
I hate that we made two big money signings in the past six months.
I hate that somebody else spends loads of money in these players and their contracts.
Most of all I hate that they don't spend more more more because it's what I'm entitled to.

Spend your money for me.

I do a good Barry.

Oh you missed my point because you're incapable of calm debate.

Essentially, based on our recent history we are going to struggle to raise the funds for a Bellingham and a Salah replacement if we are going to rely on a low net spend model.

I have no qualms with what we do currently, but I question whether it will work in the next couple of seasons and it's up to the club to decide how best to handle that.

No we'll progress by spending about £100m each season which is what we do.

Forget NET spend unless it's from first team players, it's an absolute nonsense in context to the first team.

posted on 21/6/22

I don't think we're relying on a low net spend model, I think it's simply we do our incomings and then sell players we don't need/use. We're just that good at getting fees it leads to a low net spend.

If Tchouameni was available to us then we'd have spent the £60m on him as well as Nunez, without the need to sell anyone else.

posted on 21/6/22

even if you dont like net their gross spend is atleast 320m more than ours in the same period. which is 54m a season more. and 94m net a spend a year under peps compared to klopps 24m.

But you don't use a first team through the course of a season, you use a squad especially as a club fighting on multiple fronts and that's where we will struggle in the long run if we are selling multiple squad players to fund one first team player.

We should force other clubs to accept our unwanted players for free so that we can show a higher net spent. Spending £80m on a player isn't gonna appease the fans. We need a higher net spend.

not that i have issue with any of it, is what it is. Klopp said many times we can't compete with tha, we do it our way. which considering the success we've had not only on the pitch but off it is brilliant. especially considering where we started after hicks and gilette

With our squad weakening every season due to selling all the squad players to fund one first team player we should concentrate on the league. We'll never be able to sustain a challenge on all four competitions. It'll never happen, ever.
