Benitez
he did it his way and won the biggest trophies available despite the all knowing journos saying he did everything 'wrong'
I don't think Arsene Wenger gets much respect from his Piers.
Moyes wasn't respected by some in the united squad so that's not really correct.
Darin Gradi, what a job he did at Crewe
Yes dario Gradi is a great coach and respected by all I've heard speak of him.
Steve McClaren, would have been easy after the wally with a brolly taunts to just fall away, but he went abroad and won a league title at Twente, and then has come back to England and done a great job at Derby

Fergie gets my respect for deluding everyone into thinking he won by good tactics, when his main tactic was actually to intimidate referees into giving his team favorable decision.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Being intimidated by an old man?
Can't argue with Robson.
Always remember what he did with that Ipswich side. Fantastic achievement.
Bob Paisley for me, biased of course.
Simply an absolute footballing giant, stayed with us for the majority of his life & did the lot with style & a fair bit of wit!
How he was never knighted having achieved what he did in the game & for his country in World War II was an absolute disgrace.

Robson yes,and Vicente del Bosque .
Robson, Del Bosque, Aragones was probably one of the most respected in Spain before he passed away.
In the Premier League at the moment it'd probably be Pelligrini.
Some managers have so long a career and end up so loved and respected, we forget for example the stick Robson got at times with England in 88 and how Brian Clough had such a bad time at Brighton.
Its got to be Ancelotti surely? Nice bloke and born winner
Yes ,forgot Carlo, a good man as well as a terrific manager .
Please remember Tito Villanova .
As sad as Tito is he wasn't in the game for that long. Absolutely tragic as he'd have been a top class manager

come on lad.
From the old crowd then Mercer/Big Mal, Busby, Shanks and Paisley
Yes Robson
But then we get to the new generation of the Prem , the new generation of fan and the new generation of media coverage were Managers play mind games, fans support their team and players no matter what and the media takes speculation as absolute fact.
Its pretty difficult to respect many managers totally under those circumstances.
Bob Paisley and Ferguson both achived greatness by winning the top honours.
But who do I respect more of the two ? Not biased but I always think about the writing on Bobs tombstone -
"An ordinary man amid Extraordinary Achievements"
Fergusons character at times was unlikable. I think he liked the spotlight a bit more than Bob - and this was evidenced when he actually lifted the European Cup in 1999 before his players.
I agree with Bob Paisley and Bobby Robson but am surprised that no one has mentioned Sir Alf!
why did clough have a bad time at Brighton? He had a bad time at Leeds But He chose to leave Brighton at the end of the season.
