Plus this article is utter nonsense. If Barca are selling for £30m then their profit is £2m meaning Arsenal are due £1m? Hardly going to give them a massive advantage!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly! The press knows that this will be a major talking point amount Arsenal fans so just making up stories no worth to read!
But then the honeymoon period from the FA cup is over and the WOB are back! It would have been the same if we did sign Cesc but fail to sign a striker or a replacement for Sagna.

Erm why cant we sign Cesc and get a back up GK, new DM, a ST and a RB?

posted on 8/6/14

We are only allowed to sign one or the other apparently.

The wage budget would be astronomical.

posted on 8/6/14

lmao whos fault is it that tripe like Bendtner and Park were on 50k plus in the first place?! Wages must be freed up from those who have left.

Yea that extra £100k a week would cripple us financially.

No, redinthehead, the principal reason we are not bringing back Fabregas is because we have other areas of the team we need to improve.

As if Arsenal are that bothered about half of very little.

Strange how people get so excited about newspaper speculation.

-------
First of all, I said A principal reason, not THE principal reason.

Secondly this Arsenal have to strengthen other areas might well be true, but consider...

A) Arsenal need to strengthen.. why? To compete with teams above them.. allowing Fabregas to sign for Chelsea would make Chelsea stronger. Meaning that Arsenal have to strengthen further still. Which means spending more money.

B) Fabregas is a world class midfielder no question. Arsenals midfield suffered injuries to.. Diaby, Walcott, Ramsey and Wilshere. Ozil hasn't quite settled yet whilst in the attacking sense Podolski has also gotten injured.
Seems to me that as an injury prone midfield is established, having the option to bring in Cazorla/Fabregas is an absolute requirement

C) Fabregas has a shed load of considerable experience of; the premier league and the champions league.

All in all, the passing up of getting Fabregas back is a poor decision that is likely to be counter productive. A slap in the face could result from not even profiting if Chelsea get their way.

Mourinho being Mourinho will play Fabregas v Arsenal, and with his man management will probably give Fabregas the mentality to plunge that dagger into his "fathers" chest.

The wage budget lmao.. Some people will come up with all kinds of excuses to justify something :D lmao

£100k a week for Cesc, a top striker, a top DM, a top right back, CB cover and GK cover?
Think it will be a hell of a lot more than £100k.

Wage budget!

Take it Bendtner, Sanogo, Diaby, Park all play for free..

posted on 8/6/14

Sagna, Bendtner, Park etc free up 180k atleast..

posted on 8/6/14

Viviano, Fabianski..

posted on 8/6/14

180k would barely cover a top striker.

So you're saying Arsenal can't afford a top striker?

Why the heck you bid for Suarez then?

Because you don't know which striker(s) we are after, or which DM, RB or GK!
For example, Aurier has been crying for us to sign him. He would only cost £7M and I doubt there is any cheaper option out there but still the club doesn't seem to be interested. I'm happy to miss out on Cesc if it means getting a WC striker and DM

Havent you got extra tv money and new sponsorship deals kicking in this year?

posted on 8/6/14

Mr C, they've probably already offset part of Ozils transfer fee against those...

posted on 8/6/14

Theres quite a few players freeing up wages. easily have about 280k freed up. Erm it would go a long way to providing a chunk of the wages..
If it goes 100k over than so be it.. Quality comes with a price.

We are saying we have more pressing issues to solve ahead of adding Cesc to the squad.

Yes we can afford a striker, but it is highly debatable we can afford to bring in a RB, back up keeper, CB, DM, striker AND Cesc.
Even a left winger is more pressing than Cesc.

Fack the little bottler, he is the last player we need, hope nobody signs him and he rots at barcelona

posted on 8/6/14

DJ you're burying your head in the sand mate. Arsenal could really do with having Fabregas. If you need an extra £100k a week I'm sure Arsenal could find that by jettisoning some players.

posted on 8/6/14

People talk about us signing a top GK, CF, DM, RB as if it is fact. Were we not meant to sign a top DM and CF last Summer? If we have so many options in midfield why did we spend all of January courting Draxler? And why did we sign Kallstrom?

posted on 8/6/14

Every year people moan about arsenal signing too many similar players or positions where they are already well stocked and ignoring their more pressing concerns. Wenger decides not to buy a player where they are more than equipped in favour of signing players where they need them and people complain.

Kallstrom!

Seriously those are very fair points you raise #anyonebutgiroud.

Especially the Draxler one..
