How do you know they dont complain

Very good point

Also the Spanish league has always come under criticism from most quarters saying they feel the Spanish Federation are "selling out" the game rather than fans.

When you watch most games over there the stadiums are as bad as Italy, half empty.

It happens all over the world, the difference in this country is the same two TV companies cover the SPFL and the EPL yet the gap in money is embarrassingly high

Before anyone starts the English league is better pash, it wasn't always vastly superior, it became superior when Sky started ploughing millions into the EPL after the idiots of the smaller clubs in Scotland voted in favour of Setanta

Difference is the SPL and Scottish football in general is always getting a kicking from fans of England clubs. They mock Celtics performances in the CL yet can’t get there head around the fact that most Championship clubs have similar if not better budgets

cancel your sky subscription then

lets be honest, do OF fans even watch any games that don't involve either half of OF? esp when we were in same league?

apart from an Edinburgh derby id rather gouge my own eyes out than watch a motherwell v inverness

Sky pay that much money because it's worth that much to them in terms of how much they can sell that package for.

We aren't worth that much, because outside of games involving the old firm, the rest of Scottish football looks like the English Conference. It's dire. Poor footballers, half empty, dilapidated grounds, schiedty (or plastic) pitches and unimaginative, agricultural football.

Ask yourself - who (outside of Scotland) would PAY to watch Scottish football.

Sheidt, utter sheidt.

Have you seen some games in League one down there? total hoof the ball and some of these guys have the first touch of John Leslie

Motherwell and Aberdeen would be at the challening at the top in that league without a doubt

At least over the past few years most of our teams try to keep the ball on the deck and play some decent football.

I think its more the point that the botom of the table EPL clubs get more in TV money before they even kick a baw, than SPL clubs get if they make the Champions League groups...TWICE.

That for me, is fcking ridiculous

how is it stevie?

the English league is the best marketed league in the world, if they are raking it in, its only right that their teams coin it in

sure there are right diddy teams in England who are making millions due to luck of location

the same applies up here, who would pay to watch ross county v hibs?

I wouldn't even watch that kinda game if it was free

That's nonsense.

Sky were ploughing in incredible amounts of money into the English game from the early 90s, money which only increased, while only paying us a pittance from the start.

They looked at the Setanta deal because Sky were only giving us peanuts.

Let's not pretend that the chairmen voting for the Setanta deal cost us vast amounts of money from Sky. It didn't. Sky were never going to throw the same kind of money at us as they did to English football.

"how is it stevie?"

Its ridiculous because Europe should always be the pinnacle for clubs...and it just isnt when you can coin in £60m for doing fck all in England.

Also, the reason competitons like the Europa League are suffering so much is becasue your teams on the fringes of the Champions League spots in the English Premier League are more concerened with a higher up finish in the league than they are actually trying to get places in the Europa...they dont give fkc about it??

Why??

Because if you finish 5th in the Premier League you get £19.2m in prize money......is that not what Scottish Clubs get for making the Champions League groups??

Mediocrity like that should never be worth more than reaching the pinnacles of European football...sadly it is, the Europa is therefore worth fck all to these clubs, and because of this, a perfectly legitimate competition in which Scottish teams are probably going to be competing in more and more with progression in the Champions League looker harder and harded.....is left with clubs fielding kids, half a team, and folk not giving a $hite.

All becasue, domestic affairs mean more, much much more.

For me that is wrong..utterly wrong.

Our clubs greatest achievement was winning the Cup Winners Cup in 1972...in today's day and age, a team like Everton would look at a campaing in that competition with complete disdain...for me thats criminal!!

I go to every Rangers game so not reliant on TV.

im just saying that we seem to stand and greet about how Cardiff get 60 million in tv money and we get $hite (its true) but there needs to come a time where we accept that's where we are and we have to work with what we have

SDF

If we're looking in envy at the monies they make down there then the best way for us to get a share of that is to produce players that they want to sign and hold the feckers to ransom and get as much money as possible out of them.

Celtic have already started doing it with Wanyama and probably Forster this season and good on them for getting big money for average players.

Why wouldn't they?

Clubs in Scotland were buying players from England and they were coming up here for a better challenge.

Granted most of them were joining Celtic and Rangers but we could compete. Then Setanta came in and offered a quick buck, the clubs took it, Setanta collapsed quicker than a 90 year old in a sauna and boof Sky THEN offered us peanuts

Scottish football was FAR better off under Sky
Clubs in Scotland

NHH is referring to the deal in 2002 which everyone bar Rangers, Celtic and Aberdeen said was a bad idea

we ended up with a shanner of a deal with the BBC foe 2 years

Setanta came into play in 04/05 season
