The highest level for British managers is mid-table mediocrity. Rodgers is an anomaly in my book because he has embraced attacking football and that made him attractive to bigger clubs- most of the defensive minded managers from Britain will struggle at a bigger club.

I have a theory as to why they end up quite defensive. Teams in the Premier League are so rich that they can pay for great managers, so a lot of the British managers find themselves at that level through getting clubs promoted. Because you're just promoted and your task ultimately will be to avoid relegation, so many of them turn defensive. That's how I look it, well it's a factor, there are plenty of other reasons why they do not embrace attacking football enough.

The promoted teams will come up and one of them will be told their defence is a wreck as they are psychologically used to attacking teams and scoring goals. Then the manager will either have to change his ways and stabilise the defence, or they'll hire a hoofball merchant to keep them in the league.

British coaching would be enhanced if more of them worked abroad. Even the lower leagues give you a great salary as a manager, so there's not really an incentive to move abroad is there I suppose.

Sorry LLori, meant no disrepect to the man, just that every interview I have seen him give, he had an interpreter.
D'Jeezus Mackaroni , ask for some names, off the top of my head, D.Moyes, Chris Hughton, Owen Coyles and B.McDermott. Not saying they are that great, but unless you give these people the experience, you will find we end up with a premiership of nothing but foreign manager, and they do not always seem that much better than some the clubs sack.
