---------------Kramaric-----Huntelaar---------------

Rajkovic, Jones, Hughes, Sneijder, Thorgan, Johnson, Llorente

Ospina is a good shotstopper, out early for the ball and always look to release it early for quick counters. Punch clear what he cant catch.

We line up with a different but still strong back 3, Veltman and Caceres will do the marking job on the CF, depending which side he goes to if he is more left Veltman and right it will be Caceres, straight through the middle will depend on which fullback as come up from the oppositon, If the LB is attacking Caceres will pick up the CF as Veltman moves out and vice versa. Vertonghen will take a step back and be mindful of any player coming through and help out his fellow defenders. Stick as a three, we have plenty options going forward. Vertonghen however will go up for set plays.. Now the wingbacks are youthful, and fuill of energy, so up and down the pitch is nop problem for them, Will watch there wingers and close them down early, if the fullback comes up as well, allow the winger to be marked by Veltman/Caceres so the full back doesnt become a threat, we dont think both fullbacks will attack at the same time so we shouldnt be too stretched. Attacking they will look to Sissoko/Matuidi etc to pass and move up to receive the return ball drive at them and look to fire in some wicked crosses, Would like one fullback to attack whilst the other stays a bit deeper just in case.

Sissoko and Matuidi in the heart of our team, I am now lookng to next season for these two to become a powerful partnership Matuidi will look to take care of the AM and stop him dictating the passage of play, aided by Sissoko when the oppositon attack they are exubarant characters and feisty so will be hard to get passed. stay up dont dive in, do this it will be harder for them to get passed. Once we have won the ball Matuidi stays on or near the half way line allowing Sissoko to drive forward and do what he does best by getting into dangerous positions and become a massive goal threat, look to link well with the three ahead of him.

Pereyra plays ahead of him and he links everything from the back to the front, will spray the ball about to thw wide men and look to feed the front two, also be mindful of Sissoko's forward runs so he can play a defence splitting pass for Sissoko to run on too. Will watch there DM coming forward and be onto him to stop him dicvtating where the ball goes for them.

Kramaric and Huntelaar up top, when we defend I always want one to drift out wide depending on where there attacks start from, more likely to be Kramaric as he has the legs to do so push them out wide to force them into silly mistakes, Kramaric is full of energy like most of our players so he will also drop deepish to pick up the ball to look to take on players, will help out the wingers and make himself available for the ball at all times Huntelaar is a good strong boy, will have plenty runners around him so he must get himself into positions where he will become dangerous to there goal, if he cant go for goal look for the runners around him so he can link up play and move elsewhere, either to get the ball back or at very least drag a defender away for someone to move into that space.

This is a young fit team, well mostly, so plenty running, passing and movement from them, talk to each other and always make themselves available as best they can, when they have houind them down, get into position early...

We have been hit with a nasty set of injuries this week but we will come out fighting as always. Casemiro is probably the only first team injury they have out which will probably mean Barcelona will line up with four attacking players (4-2-3-1?). Their defense is weak in terms of strength and we should look to be physical with them, bully them at every turn. Generally we should be patient, not rushing things/

We have moved to three at the back as we feel that they have the sort of players who won't hog the touchline but will cut inside. Because of that, we feel that it is better to have the extra centre back and have two central midfielders dropping deep so there is effectively five players covering all the central space in and just outside the box, making it difficult to play.

PLAYER ROLES
Lindegaard - You are a good goalkeeper, you've showed you can do it at United and this is your chance with Guaita out. Look to get the ball up to Ba quickly when you get the ball.
Dante - Man-mark Pelle out of the game, match him aerially and physically.
Vlaar/Pepe - Zonal type marking, hold a line on the edge of the area, make sure they can't play in behind. Both of you need to stay alert for the likes of Deulefeu and Tello coming in. Look to be physical and rough up their flair players.
Motta/Illaramendi - Motta has been picked over Carrick because he is a more physical player. Both must be strong in the tackle, protect the defense. Illaramendi should show a range of passing, play it short or long to try and dictate the pace of the game, we want a slower game.
Aranguiz/Mounier - Playing as the wide men today, I want you get chalk on your boots, get down the touchline and try to stretch their defense, crossing the ball in. When we don't have the ball then get back and defend the wide areas zonally.
Silva - Playmaker role behind the strikers. Find the killer pass to split their defense, look to play through balls, take long shots, run with the ball.
Suarez - Play free in attack, drift around the final third looking for space, or creating space for others to exploit. Especially look at the space between their centre back and full back, with our widemen trying to stretch their defense.
Demba Ba - Bully their centre backs like the battering ram you are. I am expecting you to have a field day against two centre backs who have decent pace but aren't the strongest, beat them in the air, get in their faces and give them a horrible day.

We're the away side this week so we'll need to adopt our approach a little bit. We still want to control the tempo of the game, but we can do this without the ball as well, by choosing when to press and when to let our opponents have the ball. With the team selected, we have a great set up for counter attacking football. We have steal in the middle of the park, mixed with intelligence and the ability to pick out a defence splitting pass. Then we have the pace, technique and guile further forward to break at speed.

We want to press our opponents and put pressure on them when they have the ball in our half, but will let them play the ball around in their own half as to utilise our pace and get in behind them on the counter when their players step up the pitch. We don't want them to be comfortable on the ball when they start moving out of their own half.

Coke and Castro take up the fullback roles, when one pushes on to help in attacks the other will stay back to make us harder to break down on counter attacks. They will generally tend to stay behind the ball, unless the opportunity of a one/two into space arrives down the flanks. Luisao and Koscielny will take up the central positions, both our extremely strong and dominant in their play. Whilst the Brazilian has experience, Koscielny has the stamina and pace to make these two a strong unit in the middle.

Mascherano takes up a position in the base of our midfield, his job is to break up the play and get the ball to Pirlo. He'll sit behind the ball so he's always on hand to shut down an opponents attack. We want him to close down the opposition in our half and battle for the ball. He's also very capable of filling in, in defence when required.
Alongside him will be our playmaker Pirlo, he'll dictate the tempo of the game and will be involved in the majority of our play. When he gets on the ball he has the ability to slow the game down or play a killer pass to set up a quick counter depending on the stage of the game.

Robben and Pedro will take up the wide roles. Their pace and trickery will be key in getting in behind our opponents and also pushing their wider players back into areas where they can't hurt us. They're instructed to balance their play between taking their men on and also playing one twos with the midfield and striker(s).

Thorgan Hazard will operate in the middle of the park, he has a good engine, he will look to go get the ball from Pirlo, his movement will also be key in opening up space for Pirlo to find passes to other players.

Immobile will lead the line, he'll look to feed off of our midfielders, while also finding pockets of space between our opponents defenders and exploiting his pace on getting in behind them.

If losing after 70 minutes:

Move to 4-3-3

Wilson > Immobile
Höjbjerg > Hazard

----------Blind
----Pirlo------Hoj
Rob-----Wil-----Ped

Masch anchors, Pirlo dictates, Höjbjerg is the link between the attack and midfield

If winning:

Move to 3-5-2

Kouyate > Luisao
Höjbjerg > Pedro
Wilson > Immobile

Notts County vs Cambuur tactics

--------------------------------De Gea-----------------------------------

Maggio---------Gimenez-----------Manolas-----------Bernat

------------------------------Iturraspe-------------------------------

------------------Thiago------------Isco--------------------

Alexis------------------------------------------------------Brahimi

-------------------------------Alcacer--------------------------------

subs: Romagnoli, Tolisso, Riedewald, Depay, Correa

Game plan: our plan today is to go at Cambuur from the off, everyone will be fired up and raring to go and looking to add to our decent start to the season. We will look to press high up the pitch and condense the space in the midfield. Successful pressing is dependant on group understanding, collective perception of ball, opponent and team mate, and a massive amount of hunger and desire to have the ball. It isn’t possible to press for 90 minutes. We will have to pick our times wisely in order to do it successfully. If our players are tracking back or not close enough to the ball it isn't sensible to press the ball, we will look to capitalise on poor passes by the opposition or when a player is facing his own goal or has his head down when receiving the ball, at these times to opposition player does not have a full view of the pitch and cannot pick a forward pass.

In possession we will have many lines of players in order to create easy triangles for the players on the ball, the player on the ball should always have at least 2 passing options, the full backs will also go forward creating an almost 3-4-3(2-3-2-3)formation when in possession, this reverts to a 4-1-4-1 formation when we lose possession.

In Possession

------------------------Gimenez-------Manolas------------------

Maggio------------------Iturraspe--------------------Bernat

-----------------Thiago-------------------Isco------------

Alexis------------------------------------------------------Brahimi

----------------------------------Alcacer-----------------------------

out of possession

Maggio-----------Gimenez-------Manolas-----------Bernat

-------------------------------Iturraspe-------------------------------

Alexis-------------Thiago-------------Isco------------Brahimi

---------------------------------Alcacer----------------------------------

David De Gea:fantastic goalkeeper, excellent shot stopper and very confident coming off his line, will look to release the ball quickly in order to start attacks, when he gets the ball the full backs will push forward and the centre backs will spread out offering themselves for the pass, will only go long if there is no other option.

Defence: as has been spoken about in the game plan section, the full backs will look to push up the field when we are in possession creating the multiple lines across the pitch which is the basis of our possession philosophy. The central defenders will look to stay close to one another when out of possession, the full backs will also tuck in leaving little room in the centre of the pitch as Cambuur will look to do most of their attacking through the middle, while the midfield and attack will cover the defence of the wide areas, this is not the specific job of one player as we are playing in a fluid system, it will be whoever is available to do the job at that point in time, our players have great discipline and concentration to perform in this system.

Midfield and Attack: Ander Iturraspe will by and large stay in position in the holding role in the midfield. He will look to snuff out space for the opposition attacking players, and always be available for a pass when we are in possession, possesses great strength and is a very tidy user of the ball. The 4 midfield players in front of Ander will play very fluidly, and as has already been stated they will look to press the opposition when the time is right, all 4 possess good pace and stamina and are able to get up and down the pitch.

Thiago and Isco will get up and down the pitch throughout, both are very quick and very creative and can carry the ball. Both will look to move the ball quickly, as will the whole team, we will play with a high tempo throughout the game not giving Cambuur any breathing space, without the ball they will look to pressurise the opposition in the centre of the pitch, but as spoken of earlier, only when it is sensible, no point doing it willy nilly and being picked off, we need to be very wary of the runs and movement of Cambuur's midfield and give them as little space and time as possible, this will be key to winning the match.

Yacine Brahimi and Alexis Sanchez will look to move wide when in possession, both have the ability to run at the opposition and will look to move inside at times and take the opportunity to shoot and link with Alcacer they both have the pace and movement to make runs beyond Alcacer in the centre forward positions, we are playing a very fluid system and will not just be looking to throw the ball into the box at every opportunity so their movment, pace and runs into the channels will be crucial in creating space and chances during the 90 minutes. When Alexis and Brahimi do move inside, Maggio and Bernat will look to provide the outlet wide with overlapping runs.

Alcacer will play as the centre forward for us today, his pace, movement and energy suits the change in the way we are going to play, he will look to roam across the pitch, dragging defenders out of position which will leave space for the other attackers and our midfield to benefit from, as stated previously in the tactics he is part of the fluid front 5 we are playing with today so will pop in different areas of the pitch on occasion, we are not just going to throw the ball into the box at every opportunity so his running of the channels and his technical ability are crucial in the way we want to play.

Substitutions: Corentin Tolisso for Yacine Brahimi on 70 minutes, switch to a midfield diamond, and look to keep the ball and be more patient in possession, the fullbacks Maggio and Bernat must now push higher up the pitch to provide the width

------------------------------Iturraspe----------------------------

-------------------Tolisso--------------Thiago-----------------

--------------------------------Isco-----------------------------

------------------Alexis---------------Alcacer---------------------

if Drawing/Losing after 80 Minutes, Memphis Depay for Iturraspe, similar to the formation above with Alcacer in the middle, Depay left and then Alexis right of the front 3 in front of Isco as the no10, Thiago and Tolisso to play as a double pivot. The tempo of our play must increase and the speed with which we move the ball will also increase, we also have the option of going long into the channels because all 3 of our forwards are quick enough to break the defensive line and get in behind.

HILARY SWANKPORT vs. Blazing Squad

-------------------------Forster-------------------------
De Scig.-------Varane-------BMI----------Durm
-------------------------Kramer-----------------------
------------Rakitic-----------------Schneiderlin--
-------------------------Draxler-----------------------
-------------Aguero--------------Costa-------------

Subs: Kameni, Lascelles, Clasie, Hughes, Ings

Tactics -

We've got a four man midfield, and that will prove the fulcrum to our victory in this major battle that has implications for both ends of the table!

A possession based game, working on retaining the ball by sheer weight of numbers in the middle of the park, working the ball around, not trying anything overtly risky, just continuously working the ball across the pitch until BlazingSmoke eventually lose their positional discipline and a credible gap opens up.

It may not be a 'fun' style to watch, constant possession based football - But when the numbers and quality adds up, it can be brutally effective.

Defence -

Right, main thing to point out is that when we have the ball, it should only go long if there's too much pressure to play it out short. We need to retain possession, and even with Costa up top, a long ball doesn't help us in this respect.

Out of the two CBs, Varane will be the one getting close to the point striker (expect it to be Rossi). Varane's pace means he can get tight to the striker without the danger of being turned and exposed. BMI should sit slightly deeper, ready to cover should Varane lose the striker. BMI's job isn't to win the ball at this point, but to force the striker wide and delay the shot, giving Varane time to recover.

The FBs have licence to go forward so long as the other sits back. Gives us an element of width which is necessary in such a narrow system, but we can also retain our defensive rigidity. The FBs should look to get forward to a position where they are level with the CMs, this gives us more men in the middle, and also allows an outball should the centre get too crowded. Again, this should give us the edge possession wise, because not only will there be four CMs against three (assuming TBag plays 4-2-3-1 or some variant of that) but we now also have a FB giving us five in the middle third of the pitch.

Midfield -

So yeah, possession is the key today. Four men nominally in the centre of the park (Kramer, Rakitic, Schneiderlin, Draxler) all of whom are fantastic passers, which should mean that we dominate the game in the middle. We (hopefully) have weight of numbers, and in my opinion ability, on our side.

But what I think makes this tactic work is the pressing when we do lose the ball. All the best possession based teams pressed and harried, attempting to win the ball back as soon as possible. Now we have to factors working in our favour for this part. Firstly, all the players have very high work rates (even Draxler in the 'cushy' No.10 position works so hard for Schalke - It's actually one of his strengths on WhoScored .) So the act of closing down is second nature to all four of these midfielders. The second thing working for us is that we will hopefully have more men in midfield, so we can close down in pairs, without leaving other Basingstoke midfielders unmarked.

So that's the main bit of my plan, constant quick passing should move us into good positions throughout the game, but also ensure we don't tire ourselves out with huge pitch length sprints, letting the ball do the work for us. This means we can tire Stoke out as they chase the ball, but also means our energy levels are high for the defensive side of the job.

Forwards -

The two forwards are often lauded as my team's saving grace - I feel that that's a little harsh on the others, but there's no denying the quality of these two.

When the attacks are building up, one should drop slightly deeper, again giving us more men in the middle of the pitch. Both are good passers of the ball, so the more the merrier! The other should stay right on the shoulder of the defence just to ensure TBag's defenders can't step up from deep and negate our numerical advantage in the centre.

Once the attack has really started to build momentum, and Basingtokers start to defend deeper and deeper, the strikers should both move right onto the shoulder, working in tandem to pull one defender out of position for the other attack to run into the gap left.

Not every run and drag will result in a pass from midfield because we should only try the final ball when there is a fair chance of it coming off. But between the two, if they are constantly moving and running then they will create these chances time after time, and it will pay off eventually.

Subs -

Losing -
70 - Kramer off for Ings, a third striker should start to make their presence on the Blasnugnhtoke defence known. We shouldn't need 4 midfielders at this point if the passing game has worked - Basingstoke will be tired out, and starting to sit deeper and deeper meaning we don't need the DM.

Winning -

70 - Costa off for Clasie - Clasie moves into DM with Kramer, more bodies in the midfield will allow us to pass the game out, and he adds a real bit of bite and danger into that midfield. Aguero's continued presence should stop the Basingstoke defenders stepping up to help out their midfield - If they do play a high line, the Argentinian striker will teear them apart.

General:
Taiwan’s set-up will be reminiscent to the Dutch team in the 2014 World Cup. A back three, two central midfielders, 2 wing backs, a 10 and two centre forwards. Taiwan’s back three can situationally morph into a back five with the wing backs dropping into the defensive line. Taiwan’s 3-2 defensive block will allow easy circulation of the ball in the defensive area due to the natural positioning of the players in this system. This team will be one that presses in defensive phase, one which moves the ball quickly in transition phase and one which circulates the ball to open spaces. The 3 up front will look to take up good positions and cover space, reducing possible passes for the opposition team. The ball will be moved quickly when Taiwan regain possession to take advantage of opened up space with the opposition not in their normal defensive structure. Both forwards need to make sure they run into wide areas where the full backs are probably missing and get a 1v1 with the centre halves where one could put the ball in and while the other gets into the box, link up with full backs when they come forward as well. The centre midfielder and the number 10 will get up to support the attack. Defending the 18 yard line is the main aim and will limit the opposition to long shots. All players stick to positions and won’t be dragged out of position. If the opposition want to play fancy passing and have 90% possession, let them, but our team will be compact not allowing anything to get into the 18 yard box.

Navas:
Claim crosses if possible. Always clear lines, and hoof up the pitch towards the strikers whenever possible. The ball must stay clear of the 18 yard box at all times. Communication is key with centre halves to avoid confusion when deciding who claims a loose ball / cross.

Bonucci and Chiellini:
Deals with opposition attackers. Chiellini keeps an eye on their attacking midfielder when he gets close to the 18 yard line. Chiellini will also mark their striker closely not allowing him space to turn. Chiellini or Matic will deal with knock-downs to their supporting player depending on who is closer. Bonucci will try and win headers when long balls are played towards the back line. Bonucci will not be as aggressive but step up to attack players that come down his side. Chiellini will be the centre half who steps up and clears up balls before it reaches their attackers, but must only go if he’s 100% sure he’ll get it. Both will protect the central centre half to the best of their abilities. Go up for corners.

Laporte:
Sits in line with the other two centre halves, he is not a sweeper. Will try and win headers when long balls are played towards the back line. Will also clean up any balls / players who manage to get through the other two centre halves. Go up for corners.

Coleman and Cheryshev:
Will both go forwards and support the attack. Will also act as extra bodies in midfield to help with holding onto the ball. Can drop into a back 5 if necessary. Main aim is to provide width and thump in crosses at every opportunity. Shoot if there is a clear sight of goal. Stays back for corners. Must not commit to tackles otherwise wingers will skip past them, just stay close, limit their space and show them onto their weaker foot.

Alonso and Matic:
Sits deep, breaks up play and snap at their heels then break with the ball. Matic is an engine that can cover a lot of ground when defending. Alonso will buzz around and dictate play, bursting forwards at times to provide an extra body in attack. Alonso will be a bit ahead of Matic to be more involved in exchanging passes with full backs / Fabregas, even going level with Fabregas at times to use his incredible vision to find teammates. Matic stays close to the centre halves. Both sprays balls wide to wing backs and directly to the front 3. Matic stays back for corners. Will not allow the opposition any time on the ball in front of centre halves. Matic sticks to position when wing backs fly forwards, providing cover if needed. Matic will stand outside the box during set pieces to smack in rebounds if not taking a set piece.

Fabregas:
Will constantly hit balls towards both strikers and if not possible, to the wing backs flying forwards. The number 10 will press the opposition along with the the other midfielders when without the ball. Will stand outside the box if not taking a set piece to hit a rebound.

Tevez and Dost:
Holds up play for the support midfielders and spray the ball wide to wing backs when they come forward, if not then they will pull wide to exploit attacking space. Get into the box at every opportunity when their partner pulls out to wide areas. Both should be able to play quick one-twos with each other if they happen to be close to each other. Both will play on the shoulder of the opposition defence and will attempt at times to get in the space between centre halves and full backs, if there isn’t a lot of space. Their pace will allow long balls to be launched occasionally to them.

SUBS:
Winning/Drawing:
75 mins: Alonso OFF Ward-Prowse ON
Ward-Prowse replaces Alonso and will slot into centre midfield to shore up the midfield and to help keep the ball better in order to close the game out. Proper 3 in midfield with Fabregas also dropping back (3-5-2).

Losing:
75 mins: Alonso OFF Di Natale ON

Reina:
His job is to get the ball down and play it out to our full backs who will break down the wings. However, going long is also allowed as Pelle will hold the ball up. When it comes to saving the ball he will push the ball out to safety. He will also collect the ball in his chest when the ball comes in from a height. At set pieces he’ll command his team to get into shape/line.

Arbeloa and Taylor:
Both will get up and down the wings all day long. However, when one goes forward the other is to stay back and help us avoid been done on the break. Both will also command our wingers to help them out when the opposition put pressure on us, I want them to put tackles in to avoid the ball getting into the box. When going forward one at a time at the other end of the pitch both will link with their respective winger and get the ball into the box for Pelle to get his head/foot on the end of.

San Jose and Martinez:
Martinez will clear any ball that gets knocked down whilst San Jose will win every ball in the air. Martinez’s job will be to follow the opposition’s striker and San Jose will be the last line of defence. When on the ball get the ball out wide where we have pace to kill any team. We also welcome going long to Pelle as he’ll hold the ball up well. These two will be screaming at Tiago and Gabi to protect them from the opposition coming at them. Tackles are welcome as well.

Tiago and Gabi:
When one of the full backs goes forward Tiago will slot into the defence and Martinez will go left if Taylor goes forward, San Jose right if Arbeloa goes forward. Gabi will then become the defensive midfielder in the side. These two are not to go forward we need both to protect the back four with their lives and get tackles in to help our team. Gabi has great passing ability and will get the ball forward to our pacey forward thinking players.

Deulofeu, Rafinha and Tello:
These three have pace and are the perfect trio to get at the opposition players. They’ll be up in the oppositions half supporting Pelle as quick as lightening. Pelle will hold the ball up two of the three of them will break infront of him to get in on goal for him to pass the ball through to them. One will be in and around him and fire shots at the goal for the opposition’s goalkeeper to either slip the ball infront of the other two players or out for a corner. All three also need to be solid and support our defensive players as well when the opposition have the ball in our half.

Pelle:
If the ball is out wide then he should be bursting a blood vessel to get on the end of crosses with his head/foot. But when the ball comes long he will hold the ball up and play the ball off to our three pacey players around him.

At set pieces:
Defensive:
All players bar Deulofeu and Tello (who will sit on the half way line) will go back in our own half and help protect our goal. Arbeloa and Rafinha will both sit on the goal line either side. Deulofeu and Tello will hit the opposition on the counter when we clear the ball out of our box.

Attacking:
San Jose, Martinez and Tiago will all add to the height of Pelle in the box and will get on the end of corners and freekicks. Deulofeu, Tello and Rafinha will all be outside the box waiting to get on the end of the ball to get on the ball that comes to them and fire the ball back into the box or at goal. Taylor and Arbeloa will sit on the half way line and stop us getting done on the counter.

Subs:
Suarez and Djuricic on for Tello and Rafinha (65 mins) Suarez for Tello, Djuricic for Rafinha, this is like for like.

Unal on for Pelle (75 mins) – like for like and gives the young guy a run out.

This is it! The game our season comes down to, and its all in our hands! I've toyed with some ideas of how to play today, but I've decided to stick with the identity we have created that has seen us rise to the top of the league. With this in mind, our gameplan is to play our game, as we're the home team and try and dictate the play and get on top of the opposition. We have a great blend of youth and experience with some impressive talent in the side and our aim is to press high up the pitch and stifle the opponents and play our game as usual, but getting the ball forward a bit quicker than usual not letting the Stockport defence settle and getting at them quickly as they are weak and lack leadership and organisation, so we can put them under a lot of pressure and watch them get confused and crumble with no one to pick them up! Meanwhile, the guile and movement of our front four will prove incredibly difficult to stifle. This means we can press Stockport high and cut off the supply to their forwards and really frustrate them!

Lloris - An experienced goalkeeper who is at his peak in 'keeper years. He will know what's expected of him with a young defence in front of him aside from Colo, he will be key in keeping concentration levels in the team high. Aside from this he is a quality shot stopper and will be expected to command his area, be quick off his line (as we will be playing a high line) and be big if he's caught one on one. The main reason however I have bought Lloris is for how quick his is off his line - not only is he a brilliant shot stopper he is good at being decisive and coming off his line, this coupled with our pace in the defence means we can push quite high and try to get into Stockport's midfield early.

FBs - The fbs are both young but experienced at the top level, extremely talented and have a great engine on them. At times they will be offering the width we need to stretch the defence, so their running will be valuable to us. First and foremost I want them defending though, only going forward when the opportunity is perfect and only one of them at a time to keep us from being hit on the counter. With two DMs, we will be looking for one of the FBs to be joining in on our attacks, however only one. This way Teixeira can drift more central, leaving Menez and a FB occupying the wide areas, thus allowing us to match Stockport man for man in the middle! As we'll only be committing one at a time, this means the remaining FB can help out with the 2 CFs and that's good as both have the pace to cover back and help out.

CBs - A classic mix of youth and experience today. Whilst we line up as a back 4, our formation is almost really a 1-3-2-3-1, with Coloccini as the one behind the defence. Basically, we will be playing a high line to press the other team, but not necessarily an offside trap as the defence have license to drop off and snuff out any through passes before they come to anything of the likes. The idea is that we push them high to get at them and pressure them all over the pitch - but as soon as you seen a midfielder bringing his peg back to hit a pass forward you can drop off to anticipate it and get the right side of the defender. If only one defender does this at once, its important that they stand up to their man and let the others have a second to get back as a unit. The two CBs are ideal for the game today - Colo knows Agueros game and both are mobile enough to deal with Aguero and relish the physical battle that Costa offers. Hopefully the supply will be cut off to them, but our CBs will need to stay alert all game and make sure early on that Costaguero know they are in for a tough time so I want an early doors reducer on Costa to set the tone. I really do believe these two defenders have the attributes to match Costaguero all the way - coupled with Zoumas fearlessness of youth and Colo being a big game player and being hugely pumped I can us matching them all the way.

Overall I believe that the back line is as well equipped as anyone's to deal with Costaguero - they are well protected in MF, Colo and Zouma will thrive on the physical battle with Costa and the FBs have the pace to come inside and cover and help with recovery, leaving a brilliant Lloris to mop up

Carvalho - An important player for our balance, so will be key today in breaking up attacks from a side that like to move the ball well and quickly, he will be our anchor man looking to sit in front of the defence and break up attacks where possible and make sure the defence is never vulnerable. He will slot in playing his natural role and will be important in cutting off the service to the forwards. He will also be important to defend counter attacks, with a cynical foul if necessary! Overall he will be in it to hit the dingle midfield hard and fast, given his physicality, early on and make them think twice when they're on the ball from then on, panicking them into mistakes and then moving the ball on to the more naturally talented players with simple passes when he does get it.

Ramsey - One of the main reasons for picking this formation is just how well this formation suits him. Firstly, he has big game experience and this is as big as they come this season. Secondly, he is more natural alongside a proper DM, protecting the defence with his high energy levels, so will be vital in our set up, as he will help keep tabs on the danger men for Stockport, who i imagine will be Draxler who is the best attacking midfielder they have and with 2 DMs should be nullified, and we also want one of the FBs forward whenever we attack, so his defensive nature will allow us to do this, without leaving too many gaps. Thirdly, he can slot in fairly seemlessly, He is full of running and can start the moves off with simple passes, but can time his runs forward perfectly and offer a real goal threat while going toe to toe with Kramer and Schneiderlin in energy levels.

Vilhena - Today he's just here to play his natural game - high intensity, full of running and that ability to press the opposition whilst also turning defence into attack in seconds with pace, power and the technique to match it. He's a more workhorse version of Quintero so naturally makes us harder to break down, but is still capable of a moment of magic to quickly change things!

Menez and Teixeira - Both get to play the games that are natural to them, albeit slightly different styles, starting out wide and drifting into dangerous areas with well timed runs and intelligent movement. They're both powerful players and are good finishers, with Teixeira giving us a bit more guile and being able to drift into gaps, so will really keep the opposition defence on their toes, also pushing the defence back giving more room for Vilhena and with their constant movement distracting the defenders it should allow Rossi the half a yard he needs to do the damage. Menz is free to interchange wings at will whilst Teixeira will be drifting into the areas where he's confident and where defenders and attackers won't want to follow him, causing confusion. I think these two could be key - the FBs are there to be got at and should be isolated, especially if we double up on them going forward whenever we can. That said, Stockport shouldn't be under estimated going forward or on the break, so, as soon as we lose them I want them both to find the nearest wing (not the same one!) and get behind the ball and protect the FBs as well as possible.

Rossi - The missing piece of the jigsaw, the world class CF we've been missing all last year and he will make us such a scary proposition going forward. HIs pace, movement and finishing are all equisite and IMO he's almost on par with someone like Aguero. He just gets to play his natural game, working hard and trying to find the space, which he will be aided by thanks to the players around him.

Subs if winning around 70 mins - Boetius on for Menez - like for like, just to offer more energy levels

75 mins - Milik on for Rossi.

Subs if losing/drawing around 65 mins - Boetius on for Vilhena, with Teixeira coming into the central attacking midfield role, to give us more direct options down both flanks and put the opposition under pressure

75 mins - Milik for Rossi - a real poacher and fox in the box type striker, hopefully with our other subs we will really be getting on top and making lots of chances, getting the ball in the box a lot, with Milik being able to put some of the chances away.

Merger Cup Tactics SC Cambuur & Fishguard Sports

Meunier--Süle--Wimmer--Gayá
-----------Biglia---Jorginho
Berardi------Klaassen------Icardi
----------------Vietto

Starting; Ryan; Meunier, Süle, Wimmer, Gayá; Biglia (c), Jorginho; Berardi, Klaassen, Icardi; Vietto
Subs: Nyland, Engels, André Gomes, Ocampos, Talisca

Corners: Berardi/Biglia
Pens: Vietto
Free Kicks: Biglia

Our intentions are for our midfielders and forwards to pressurise our opponent’s players and thus compress the spaces, as the less time our opponents players will have on the ball, the smaller the area they have to play into becomes. Also winning the ball as close to our opponent’s goal as possible allows a more direct route to goal, increasing the chances of scoring.

The flipside to this kind of pressing is that it’s can be very tiring for the players doing it, and so part of what we plan to make these tactics a success is that the players will know when to sit in front of the opposition and when to harass the opposition.

As seen in our substitution below we will always look to substitute a forward or winger after 80 minutes. They are the players that have to press the most, while the defenders, in theory, should barely have to.

The alternative of sitting back and letting the opposition have the ball will give our forwards an opportunity to recover for another period of pressing. Our solid defence means we are happy to sit back and exchange long balls; it will allows our forwards to recover, but also force our opponents to alter their style. If long balls don’t work, our opponents will be forced to try to play their way through, leaving gaps for our team to exploit on the counter-attack. In addition, the completeness that universality pushes towards means that the long balls will be realistic goal-scoring opportunities for Luciano Vietto.

In possession, our five man midfield make it easier to maintain possession – indeed, our 4-2-3-1 formation will naturally encourage simple yet effective passing triangles – and our players’ ability to interchange positions will make them difficult to track.

A run through of our players shows that everyone is capable on the ball or is able to play in a different position.

Mathew Ryan is one of the finest sweeper keepers in the world and his excellent distribution will start many attacks for us.

Niklas Süle and Kevin Wimmer are calm and assured on the ball, whilst the latter can also fit in at left-back, with both Thomas Meunier and José Luis Gayá being equally adept at playing at full back or higher up the pitch.

Lucas Biglia and Jorginho will play primarily defensive, with their main job being to win the ball back for Davy Klaassen, but both are very capable on the ball and will often be seen lingering outside the opposition penalty area, ready to shoot.

Any of the front 4 are interchangeable; Vietto will often move to the flanks, where he will link up with Icardi, or come deep and so on.

Sub: Ocampos on for Berardi, Talisca on for Klaassen (both 80th Min)

Man Dem Florentines vs Paarkaak (4-3-2-1)

.................Casillas................
Clyne....Dante...Pepe...Pasqual
.....Schweiny..De Rossi..Iniesta
.........Carrillo........Suarez..........
....................Zaza............

Subs: Gordon,Stones,Illarra, De Jong, Ba

Bringing a bit of Renaissance flair to proceedings, we have 2 time league winners Fiorentina and their upstart sidekicks managed by TrebsRF Mandems of Manchester

Paarkaak have a solid midfield even with Haak selling the black Matic (can I say that? I presume I can as Matic is the white Yaya) Park no doubt will beg Haak to let him play his £100m strike-force, well I say force but it got him relegated so.............

Our system today is pretty narrow, as we look to dominate the middle of the pitch and have decent ball retention, moving the opposition about before attacking with pace in the final third.

Casillas - This man has won everything there is to win domestically and internationally, cool calm and collected, will organise his defence, whilst coming to collect crosses and any loose through balls. With the ball will either go long over the top or short sharp throw outs to the marauding full backs.

Clyne/Pasqual - Both are excellent going forwards, whilst being old fashioned in that they're also decent defenders, Clyne being a former member of Stockcubes defence has inside knowledge of Parks tactical nous, and will look to push on wherever possible and give the side much needed balance and width, Zaza is great in the air so should make a good target for Clyne to hit on the run. Pasqual is a late selection as he gets the nod over Criscito due to his better defensive work and if as expected he comes up against Lucas Moura he'll need all that experience to nullify the threat...Like Clyne is good going forwards and will push on when able too.

Dante/Pepe - All the core ingredients of a good partnership here..Pepe has the power and aerial presence to deal with a big strong attacker where as Dante who's no slouch himself can play as the covering CB intercepting loose/through balls, very tidy in possession can link the defence to the midfield.

The Midfield - 3 vastly experienced big game players that I feel give us a bit of everything, as I said we look to dominate the middle and these 3 have all the tools needed, all 3 have won world cups (the recognised pinnacle of sporting achievement)
De Rossi - The midfield general, playing less expansive today as he plays the anchor man role...good in the air and solid in the tackle, means defensively he will act as the perfect shield for our defence, but coupled with a great touch and good range of passing he can be our Pirlo, keeping the ball as we recycle possession.

Schweiny - Is there a better box-box midfielder in world football? we've seen him on countless occasions dominate a midfield single-handedly let alone with such stellar team-mates...Paarkaak's main man in the middle will be Vidal I expect so Schweiny is the man to silence him, win this battle and it goes a long way to victory
Iniesta - Whilst De Rossi is the Muscle and Schweiny the Engine, Iniesta is my little Spanish artist and heartbeat for the team...given light defensive duties as he plays as our midfield playmaker linking our midfield and attack seamlessly

Carrillo/Suarez - This is the key area as we in effect/affect are playing with twin #10's, in a narrow line-up but given free licence to roam wide and pull defenders with them creating space for the on-rushing Schweiny/Iniesta...this serves two purposes as defensively we are pretty much a 4-5-1 and very, very difficult to break down, but with the pace of the front 3 we are lethal on the break
Carrillo is currently playing for Sporting Lisbon and has 7 goals and 12 assists so far this season...Suarez is a man who needs no introfuction, so I wont bother.

Zaza - the Spearhead of the attack, may be currently at Sassuolo but with a move to Juve agreed at the end of the season, means his start is likely to continue rising...8 goals and 2 assists in Serie A this season mark him as a man to watch.

Subs 65 mins regardless
Our high energy pressing is lung busting and whilst we can hold the ball for long spells, all sides need fresh legs, as such these changes are like for like

De Jong > De Rossi
Stones > Dante
Ba > Zaza

Merger Cup;

Senseless Pride

Squad of 16, 8 from each, 6/5 split in starting XI

--------------- Enyeama
Aurier - De Vrij - Koscielny - Blind
------- Mascherano - Y.Toure
----- Robben - Eriksen - Pedro
-------------- Ibrahimovic

Frey, Pirlo, Xavi, Munir, Aubameyang

Enyeama - Distribute from the back to the fullbacks/CM's, stay in communication with your defence throughout, be wary of long range efforts and ensure you stay big for any one on ones. On occasion go long for Ibrahimovic.

De Vrij/Koscielny - De Vrij to mark their striker, force him high up the pitch thus limiting his impact close to goal, and Koscielny to be the spare man, be first to the second ball and their second striker/AM making runs from midfield. When in possession bring the ball out of defence and use the midfielders ahead of you to help us play out from the back. Both of you go forward for setpieces.

Aurier/Blind - Both of you to force their wingers out wide, do not allow them to come inside as this will cause more problems for our midfield. They will want to cut inside so force them outside and block their crosses at source. They will try to create problems infield so its vital you only show them down the wing. If they play a diamond with no wingers you will need to form a narrow back four with the CB's and leave no spaces in behind. When we have possession, push forward and support Robben/Pedro as they will try to run inside the fullback and you will provide the overlap to either create space or supply crosses into the area for Ibrahimovic and link with Eriksen. You will need to track back very quickly to ensure we don't get caught on the break.

Mascherano/Yaya Toure - Mascherano the defensive midfielder, assist the CB's in dealing with their attack, if they play an AM stay on him, but don't follow if he drifts wide. If they have a second striker who drops off ensure you're on top of him too. Be first to any loose balls and in possession look for the attackers and pass rather than bring the ball out. Yaya is the box to box man, sit in front of the back four helping Mascherano break up play, but in possession look to burst forward and start off our attacks utilising Eriksen, Pedro, Robben and Ibrahimovic.

Eriksen - Playing the AM role, with the ball I want you to drift left and right, drag their DM out of position as they will be assigned to track your runs, swap with Robben, Pedro and Yaya on occasion to create confusion and leave space for your teammates to run into. Link with Pedro, Robben, Yaya and Ibrahimovic, look for Ibrahimovic on the last defender for a through ball and also shoot if you get the opportunity. Get yourself between their DM and the ball, make them go through you and foul you to stop you, thus creating setpiece chances for us.

Robben/Pedro - Both playing out wide and both have the pace and trickery to beat their fullbacks and get crosses in, but both of you will also have our fullback overlapping giving you the chance to cut inside and get shots in. Look to supply Ibrahimovic with chances and also provide yourselves with chances. Link up with Eriksen and Yaya, and capitalise on the space Ibrahimovic's presence will create for you. Without the ball I expect you two to track back and assist your fullback.

Ibrahimovic - you will be expected to occupy their centrebacks, hold up possession and look to turn the defender and shoot. Be strong in the air and look for your teammates trying to pick you out from deep. Shoot on sight. Stay on the last defender's shoulder for any passes in behind. With Yaya, Eriksen, Robben and Pedro being creative on your behalf I expect many chances to be created for you. You need to be ruthless and clinical and we can win this game.

Subs 70 mins:
If winning: Eriksen and Ibrahimovic off, Xavi and Aubameyang on. Switch to a 4-5-1, Xavi joins Mascherano and Yaya in midfield, with Robben and Pedro wide and Aubameyang upfront. Absorb pressure and look to hit them on the break.

If drawing: Eriksen and Pedro off, Pirlo and Munir on. Pirlo and Mascherano in CM, Yaya to AM, Munir like for like with Pedro. Same 4-2-3-1 gameplan with a twist. Push for the winner.

If losing: Koscielny and Mascherano off, Pirlo and Aubameyang on. Aurier - De Vrij - Blind the back three, Pirlo the deep playmaker, an AM four of Robben - Eriksen - Yaya - Pedro with Ibrahimovic and Aubameyang upfront. Push for goals and save this tie. Score or concede trying.

Tactics:
I’ve broken down our game-plan into 3 key phases that are important in the way we play the game.
Ideally we are a lightening quick transition footballing team that presses from the front and high up the pitch so effectively we will look to win the ball as close to their goal as possible or move the ball up the pitch towards the opposition’s goal as quickly as possible and score. This does not mean regular long punts up the field but by using the quickness of our one touch, short passing game and using the pace & dribbling ability of the attacking players. However when we do not win the ball from our initial press, we will revert to our defensive block to limit the opposition’s chances of scoring. Everything is done as a team. We defend and attack as a collective unit, limiting the space between the lines in which the opposition plays in.

The Offensive Organisation:

This is the general shape, movement & positioning of the team when we are in a long spell of possession and in the attacking phase. When in attack we will get forward in numbers, using the footballing intelligence & movement of our attacking midfielders & striker to create passing angles and overloads in the opposition’s area of the pitch both out wide and in central zones, looking to drag the opposition’s players out of position and exploiting the space they leave open. When the opposition is using a deep defensive block to shut out our team we will use our fullbacks to create numbers out wide to stretch the opposition (this will be assisted by our CDM splitting the CBs wider allowing the FBs to move up the pitch) simultaneously using our wide-forward to cut inside to create overloads in the central areas giving us a number’s advantage. When creating chances from the wide areas with the FBs or WFs, we will mostly use cutbacks instead of crosses but can use crosses when the perfect opportunity arises. Making runs behind the defence and beyond the striker is not prohibited by our attacking midfielders. There is a lot freedom in the movement of our striker & attacking midfielders. No one player is restricted to a specific zone on the field or specific task. All four attackers (Sterling, Fabregas, Coutinho & Tevez) will either be provider or finisher with Gundogan providing the support needed and Matic anchoring the midfield and supporting the centre backs. This is why the four of them have similar attributes, to make our style of play fluid & effortless when in a long spell of possession. Shooting from outside the box is not prohibited either. Remember that our players will also press instantly from the front when we lose possession of the ball but also retreat back to our defensive block when we don’t recover the ball from our initial press.

The Offensive & Defensive Transitions:

This is the players’ movements & reactions when moving from defence to attack & back again, whilst illustrating the movement of the ball and this is arguably the most important aspect of our game. Winning the ball back when your opposition is disorganized is the perfect moment you have to benefit from the game. We will aim for rapid movement up the pitch, with progressive passing to exploit the space left by the opposition. Whether it is from our defensive third of the pitch or whether we have won the ball back in our attacking third of the pitch we will exploit the disorganization of the opposition. We expect most of our attacking play will be as a result of our aggressive high press so we will use the following 3 triggers for pressing the opponent from the front:

1. The ball is played to a player facing his own goal
2. The ball is played to a player against the sidelines (using the sideline as an extra man in our favour)
3. A difficult bouncing ball is played to a player facing his own goal.

When any of these 3 triggers are errr…triggered, the players closest to the ball will press quickly and in numbers and another 2 or 3 players will hold of slightly adding depth to the press and closing down the easy option pass of the opposition. Once we win possession of the ball, we break in numbers again exploiting the opposition with either the pace of our attack and/or our quick one-touch passing. We also understand that we will not always get it right when pressing the opposition so will employ a 5-second rule on pressing from the front after which, if we did not win back possession of the football, we will revert to our defensive block. If we don’t win the ball after our initial phase of pressing it is imperative that the players work their way back into our defensive zone of the pitch and close the space that the opposition will look to play in. This must be done with the same speed at which we look to initiate our attacks. Close the space quickly and look to frustrate the opposition with intelligent positioning and non-fairy like tackling before winning the ball back and breaking forward at rapid speed again. We will compact the central zones and force the opposition wide where the quality of the chances are not as high and thus limiting the chances of breaking through our midfield and scoring against us. With regards to attacking from deep, long diagonal balls and quick releases are not prohibited as well when the perfect opportunity arises. Our forwards have the pace to run onto the through-balls.

Defensive Organization:

This is the team’s general shape and positioning when the opponents have the ball. Remember this is our defensive block we go into if we could not win the ball through our pressing phase. As a team we will defend deep in our half and close the space in the middle of the pitch. We will try to force our opponents to the wide areas of the pitch where their impact on the game should be minimal. Also when forcing the opposition closer to the touchlines, we will use the touch line as an extra-man and press them so that we can win possession of the football. More often than not we will outnumber the opponent when they are close to the touchline. The defence will always be organized and focused at all times. If the play is on the left of the field the team as a whole will move towards the left and squeeze the space and vice versa if the play is on the right. We more often than not will try to force our opponents to play hopeful crosses into our box where we have 2 towering CBs who are great at dealing with crosses. If a cross is coming from the right our LB will also move into the box to help deal with crosses and vice versa if the cross is coming from the left. The midfielders will be in & around the box pressing the opponent should they try to play it through the centre. Our wide forwards will help the midfield in closing the space in the centre and then proceed to help the fullback after we have moved the opponent towards the touchline. The wide-forwards are the real work horses in the team and I have 2 very good, hard-working wide-forwards. Our striker will also drop into our half to help the midfield press the opposition’s defence. Also the reasoning behind dropping the striker deep is to draw the opponent’s defence away from their goal creating ample space for us to counter attack.

Substitutions:

Winning 70th mins:
Xabi Alonso ON Philippe Coutinho OFF
Jan Vertonghen ON Ilkay Gundogan OFF
Go 3-5-2 with Sterling moving up front with Tevez supporting him. Midfield three of Fabregas Matic Alonso will control the game from the middle with both full backs pushing further forwards to pen the opposition in their half.

Drawing 70th mins:
Hakan Calhanoglu ON Ilkay Gundogan OFF
Go 4-2-3-1 with Fabregas dropping back and Calhanoglu going on the left, Coutinho moves to the centre to exert more influence.

Losing: 65 mins:
Son Heung-Min ON Namenja Matic OFF
Alexandre Lacazette ON Ilkay Gundogan OFF
Go 4-4-2 like this

Sterling Fabregas Coutinho Son
Tevez Lacazette

to try and grab as many goals as possible. All players in this shape will press very hard when the opposition has the ball, all players have that sort of energy.

Nottsend Unounty vs FishBuur

--------------------------------Buffon-----------------------------------

Trippier---------Gimenez-----------Terry-----------Bernat

------------------------------Strootman-------------------------------

------------------Pjanic------------Isco--------------------

Alexis------------------------------------------------------Dybala

-------------------------------Sturridge--------------------------------

subs: Manolas, Flanagan, Verratti, Thiago, Oxlade Chamberlain, Bony

Game plan: our plan today is to go at Fishbuur from the off, everyone will be fired up and raring to go and looking to win this important cup game.

------------------------Gimenez-------Terry------------------

Trippier------------------Strootman--------------------Bernat

-----------------Pjanic-------------------Isco------------

Alexis------------------------------------------------------Dybala

---------------------------------Sturridge-----------------------------

out of possession

Trippier-----------Gimenez-------Terry-----------Bernat

-------------------------------Strootman-------------------------------

Alexis-------------Pjanic-------------Isco------------Dybala

------------------------------Sturridge----------------------------

Gigi Buffon:fantastic goalkeeper, excellent shot stopper and very confident coming off his line, will look to release the ball quickly in order to start attacks, when he gets the ball the full backs will push forward and the centre backs will spread out offering themselves for the pass, will only go long if there is no other option.

Defence: as has been spoken about in the game plan section, the full backs will look to push up the field when we are in possession creating the multiple lines across the pitch which is the basis of our possession philosophy. The central defenders will look to stay close to one another when out of possession, the full backs will also tuck in leaving little room in the centre of the pitch as Fishbuur will look to do most of their attacking through the middle, while the midfield and attack will cover the defence of the wide areas, this is not the specific job of one player as we are playing in a fluid system, it will be whoever is available to do the job at that point in time, our players have great discipline and concentration to perform in this system.

Midfield and Attack: Kevin Strootman will by and large stay in position in the holding role in the midfield. He will look to snuff out space for the opposition attacking players, and always be available for a pass when we are in possession, possesses great strength and is a very tidy user of the ball. The 4 midfield players in front of Kevin will play very fluidly, and as has already been stated they will look to press the opposition when the time is right, all 4 possess good pace and stamina and are able to get up and down the pitch.

Pjanic and Isco will get up and down the pitch throughout, both are very quick and very creative and can carry the ball. Both will look to move the ball quickly, as will the whole team, we will play with a high tempo throughout the game not giving Fishbuur any breathing space, without the ball they will look to pressurise the opposition in the centre of the pitch, but as spoken of earlier, only when it is sensible, no point doing it willy nilly and being picked off, we need to be very wary of the runs and movement of Fishbuur's midfield and give them as little space and time as possible, this will be key to winning the match.

Paulo Dybala and Alexis Sanchez will look to move wide when in possession, both have the ability to run at the opposition and will look to move inside at times and take the opportunity to shoot and link with Sturridge they both have the pace and movement to make runs beyond Sturridge in the centre forward positions, we are playing a very fluid system and will not just be looking to throw the ball into the box at every opportunity so their movment, pace and runs into the channels will be crucial in creating space and chances during the 90 minutes. When Alexis and Dybala do move inside, Trippier and Bernat will look to provide the outlet wide with overlapping runs.

Sturridge will play as the centre forward for us today, his pace, movement and energy suits the change in the way we are going to play, he will look to roam across the pitch, dragging defenders out of position which will leave space for the other attackers and our midfield to benefit from, as stated previously in the tactics he is part of the fluid front 5 we are playing with today so will pop in different areas of the pitch on occasion, we are not just going to throw the ball into the box at every opportunity so his running of the channels and his technical ability are crucial in the way we want to play.

Substitutions: Marco Verratti for Paulo Dybala on 70 minutes, switch to a midfield diamond, and look to keep the ball and be more patient in possession, the fullbacks Trippier and Bernat must now push higher up the pitch to provide the width

------------------------------Strootman----------------------------

-------------------Verratti--------------Pjanic-----------------

--------------------------------Isco-----------------------------

------------------Alexis---------------Sturridge---------------------

if Drawing/Losing after 80 Minutes, Wilfried Bony for Strootman, similar to the formation above with Bony and Sturridge in the middle, Isco left and then Alexis right of the front 4, Verratti and Pjanic to play as a double pivot. The tempo of our play must increase and the speed with which we move the ball will also increase, we also have the option of going long into the channels because all 3 of our forwards are quick enough to break the defensive line and get in behind.

Well start like this: Gosport/Tenby

-----------------------Robles------------------------
---------Alderweirdeld--San Jose--Martinez--------
Ivanovic-------Gabi---Wanyama------Arbeloa
-------------Wijnaldum----Tello------------------
-----------------------Kane-------------------------

Subs bench:
Fonte, Rafinha, Suarez, Pelle, Berahino

Gameplan:
Defend for our lives and hit the opposition on the counter.

When defending:

--------------------Robles--------------------
Ivanovic-Alderweireld-San Jose-Martinez-Arbeloa
Wijnaldum----Gabi-----Wanyama---------Tello
------------------Kane---------------------

Try keeping this shape and making it virtually impossible for anyone to get in on our goal.

Ivanovic and Arbeloa will end up in a flat back five with Wijnaldum and Tello providing cover for them.

Gabi and Wanyama sit in front of the back three and also make it hard for the opposition to get through.

San Jose will win everything in the air whilst Alderweireld and Martinez will get the ball away from the box.

Kane is to press as high up the pitch and when Wijnaldum and Tello aren't asked to protect Ivanovic and Arbeloa both will help Kane out.

When attacking:

---------------------------Robles-------------------------
-------Alderweireld--------San Jose------Martinez----------
Ivanovic--------------------Wanyama------------------Arbeloa
-----------------------------Gabi---------------------------
Wijnaldum--------------------------------------------Tello
-----------------------------Kane--------------------------

The back three will be always protected by Wanyama, but when we have the ball we're gonna break quickly and that starts with getting the ball out wide.

Ivanovic and Arbeloa will run to the half way line and give Wijnaldum and Tello the ball to break down the pitch and get the ball into Kane.

Gabi will use his fabulous passing ability and spray the ball around the field.

Kane will get on anything that comes his way in the box.

Subs: If losing/Drawing:

Taylor and Rafinha on for Arbeloa and San Jose (65 mins)

We go like this:

-----------------------Robles--------------------
Ivanovic-----Alderweireld----Martinez------Taylor
-------------Gabi-------------Wanyama------------
Tello---------------Wijnaldum--------------Rafinha
------------------------Kane-----------------------

Then we bring on Pelle for Wijnaldum (70 mins)
With Pelle up top and Kane tooking in behind him.

Pelle will hold the ball up well and allow Kane, Rafinha and Tello to get up and support him.

If winning:
Pelle on for Kane (65 mins) - like for like.

In goal lloris, for me one of the best Goalkeepers there is, a fantastic shot stopper and a keeper that instills confidence in the back four, leads by example from the back, shouting instructions to hos defenders. Out quickly to shut down strikers and close there shooting angles down. Punches clear what he cant catch from high balls and likes to release early to set up quick counters.

Jagielka and Zouma are a solid pairing at CB, on this occassion Jagielka will man mark the CF, , with great marking abilities, will keep the CF away from goal and be on to him quickly as he comes forward so he can intercept any though he has of going for goal. When in possession he will carry the ball out and start attacks from the back. Zouma alongside will mark any other forwards that come up for corners etc and make sure he is strong enough to get the ball away from danger, will help out Jagielka if needed.

Alves and Gibbs at fullback, when we attack one goes at a time the other sits back. When they attack I want them bombing down the wing over lapping the winger to allow them to cut inside, quick passing between the two to get them passed the opposition fullback, which will see the fullback drive towards the bye line to get a quick cross in. If its not a cross then look for the winger inside to play a quick pass back to them so they can drive into the box. Defending both will have to be vigilant and always mindful of the tricks the opposite winger can do. Be onto them quickly not allowing them the time to get going, push them out wide and stop them becoming a threat.

Carvalho sits just in front of the two cbs, he stops there flow between midfield and attack, always watchful for the AM and when they come forward he will look to intercept any through balls or look to stop his runs forward. Even when we attack he is always mindful of the players movement and ready to act quickly if they break forward. Once the ball is won simple balls to those around him. He will be aided when we defend by Pogba and Ramsay either side of him Both extremely hard working lads who will get up and down the pitch helping both defence and attack. They sit as a three with Pogba taking care of of the second most advanced midfielder when he comes forward. They will break up play and get it moving forward, most likely Ramsay to burst forward to assist Destro. His goal record for a CM is decent as is Pogba's and can score from varous angles/ranges, he is a very dynamic player with great stamina, one who never gives up. He is with Pogba in the midfield and they will be no pushovers. Pogba is sort of mix of the two, can pass the ball about, defend the lines and also break forward. A very cool head for such a young lad. Look to pick up from Carvalho and drive forward looking for more advanced passing to those in front of him or push forward with the ball if he does this then Ramsay will take a step back

El Ghazi and Griezmann are class. Both lightning quick with nimble feet which more often than not takes them passed the fullback, wether they knock it passed them and drive on or simple a quick turn, and there away. Will have fullbacks supporting them so this allows them to pass and cut inside where both are very useful. Give and go, wait for the return and go for goal, or look to drive into the box in support of Destro. El Ghazi focusses more on the tricks and twists to see him passed, whereas griezmann likes to make the pass that gives him time to look for space for him to drive into and wait for the return, Griezmann is very hard working and will always make himself available for the ball. Both very dangerous and with support from there respective fullbacks we will be a danger out wide. When defending look to get back and stop there defenders becoming a threat. With Destro as the middle man all three will drive at there defence

Destro goes up top two good feet, will look to get into positions that he will become dangerous, in fact our front three are a danger and there movement will be a serious concern for the other team. Pace and movement from them, can all play CF or drift wide so when the winger comes in Destro will be looking to drag the CB away freeing up room for the other two to drive into. With Ramsay and Pogba also supporting we are a huge goal threat to anyone. I want quick football as they arent the biggest of lads, ball to feet and always looking up for a pass..We must go at Wolves from the off...

Merger Cup Semi Final;

Senseless Pride

Squad of 18, 9 from each, 6/5 split in starting XI

----------------Enyeama
Aurier - De Vrij - Koscielny - Blind
----------De Rossi - Y.Toure
------Robben - Eriksen - Pedro
-------------Aubameyang

Subs: Frey, Vidic, Kouyate, Mascherano, Pirlo, Munir, Alcacer

-------------------

Tough semi final, but we can do what we did in the quarter final and get at our opponents today with our pacy inverted wingers, lightning pace upfront in Aubameyang and a very solid midfield pairing in De Rossi and Yaya Toure. Eriksen playing at AM should be able to dictate play and link everything between the midfield and the wingers/striker. Be bold and don't allow our opponents to get the upper hand.

Enyeama - Distribute from the back to the fullbacks/CM's, stay in communication with your defence throughout, be wary of long range efforts and ensure you stay big for any one on ones. On occasion go long for Aubameyang.

De Rossi/Yaya Toure - De Rossi the defensive midfielder, assist the CB's in dealing with their attack, if they play an AM stay on him, but don't follow if he drifts wide. If they have a second striker who drops off ensure you're on top of him too. Be first to any loose balls and in possession look for the attackers and pass rather than bring the ball out. Yaya is the box to box man, sit in front of the back four helping De Rossi break up play, but in possession look to burst forward and start off our attacks utilising Eriksen, Pedro, Robben and Aubameyang.

Eriksen - Playing the AM role, with the ball I want you to drift left and right, drag their DM out of position as they will be assigned to track your runs, swap with Robben, Pedro and Yaya on occasion to create confusion and leave space for your teammates to run into. Link with Pedro, Robben, Yaya and Aubameyang, look for Aubameyang on the last defender for a through ball and also shoot if you get the opportunity.

Look to supply Aubameyang with chances and also provide yourselves with chances. Link up with Eriksen and Yaya, and capitalise on the space Aubameyang's presence will create for you. Without the ball I expect you two to track back and assist your fullback.

Aubameyang - you will be expected to occupy their centrebacks, hold up possession and look to turn the defender and shoot.

If winning: Eriksen and Aubameyang off, Mascherano and Alcacer on. Switch to a 4-5-1, Mascherano joins De Rossi and Yaya in midfield, with Robben and Pedro wide and Alcaceer upfront. Absorb pressure and look to hit them on the break.

If drawing: Eriksen and Aubameyang off, Pirlo and Alcacer on. Pirlo and De Rossi in CM, Yaya to AM, Alcacer like for like with Aubameyang. Same 4-2-3-1 gameplan with a twist. Push for the winner.

If losing: Koscielny and De Rossi off, Pirlo and Alcacer on. Aurier - De Vrij - Blind the back three, Pirlo the deep playmaker, an AM four of Robben - Eriksen - Yaya - Pedro with Alcacer and Aubameyang upfront. Push for goals and save this tie. Score or concede trying.

**************************SEASON 3 GW1**********************

-------------------------Ryan
Diks-----------Engels------Hoedt------Wimmer
-------------Dendoncker-----Allen
Mackay-Steven------Klaassen (c)---------Praet
-----------------------Vietto

Starting; Ryan; Diks, Engels, Hoedt, Wimmer; Dendoncker (van de Beek), Allen; Mackay-Steven (Muric), Klaassen (c), Praet; Vietto
Subs: Onana, Friedrich, van de Beek, Muric, Leya Iseka

Corners: Mackay-Steven (Muric)/Praet
Pens: Vietto
Free Kicks: Praet

My intentions are for my midfielders and forwards to pressurise the Battersea players and thus compress the spaces and time in which they have to play the ball, as the less time the Battersea players will have on the ball, the smaller the area they have to play into becomes. Also winning the ball as close to the Battersea goal as possible allows a more direct route to goal, increasing the chances of scoring.

The flipside to this kind of pressing is that it can be very tiring for the players doing it, and so part of what I plan to make these tactics a success is that the players will know when to sit in front of the opposition and when to harass the opposition.

As seen in my substitution below I will always look to substitute a forward or winger after 80 minutes. They are the players that have to press the most, while the defenders, in theory, should barely have to.

The alternative of sitting back and letting the opposition have the ball will give my forwards an opportunity to recover for another period of pressing.

Our solid defence and midfield partnership of Dendoncker and Allen means we are happy to sit back and exchange long balls; it will allows our forwards to recover, but also force Battersea to alter their style. If long balls don’t work, Battersea are forced to try to play their way through, leaving gaps for my team to exploit on the counter-attack. In addition, the completeness that universality pushes towards means that the long balls will be be realistic goal-scoring opportunities for Luciano Vietto.

In possession, my five man midfield make it easier to maintain possession – indeed, my 4-2-3-1 formation will naturally encourage passing triangles – and my players’ ability to interchange positions will make them difficult to track.

A run through of my players shows that everyone is capable on the ball or is able to play in a different position.

Ryan is an extremely gifted young sweeper keeper and his excellent distribution will start many attacks for us.

Bjorn Engels and Wesley Hoedt are calm and assured on the ball. Whilst Kevin Wimmer is able to play anywhere along the defence and Kevin Diks is known for his attacking ability and all round competence in defending.

Leander Dendoncker and Joe Allen and will play primarily defensive, with their main job being to win the ball back for the players in front of them, both are extremely comfortable on the ball and Dendoncker in particular will often be seen lingering outside the opposition penalty area, ready to shoot.

These two players will go about their work with the utmost efficiency, if people aren’t talking about them then that means they are doing their job. Neither are afraid of putting in a firm tackle, and both are not only excellent interceptors but also equally excellent recyclers and passers of the ball. Joe Allen in particularly of course is known for his extremely high pass completion % and availability to his team mates to receive and play the ball in even the tightest of spaces.

The front 4 are all adapt at playing in more than one attacking position, and when Vietto drops deep expect Klaassen to move forward, and likewise when Vietto drifts left, expect Praet to come more central.

Klaassen is comfortable with both feet on the ball and blessed with great speed of thought and action. He is an electrifying player with his pace and imagination.

Praet has superb vision, good ball control, a confident dribbling ability and knows when’s best to accelerate with the ball, which is arguably much more important than having raw pace.

Both Klaassen and Praet show maturity beyond their young ages and it would be extremely naïve of any manager in this league to take either lightly.

Vietto’s movement, technique and clinical finishing are hallmarks of his game, and whilst he is certainly quick, as the old adage goes the first two yards are in your head and Vietto’s intelligence and off the ball movement often allows him to steal a march on defenders.

Subs: Muric on for Mackay-Steven (80th Min), van de Beek on for Dendoncker (85th Min)
