"The British media is very bad to Luis Suarez. Bad. Bad. Bad. You attack, attack, attack. You don't see the goals, only bad things "
Leonardo Goyen Sena

I keep seeing this and I still don't get it

The British media have done nothing but heap praise on Suarez this season. He's won individual honours too.

Are the media supposed to sweep him biting an opponent for a third time under the carpet?

He has nobody else to blame but himself

If Rooney had bitten an opponent, he'dd be getting the same chit and Hodgson would not be defending it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think some parts of the Uruguayan press/media have been pressing Suarez to get out of England and sign for one of the two Spanish 'big boys' for atleast 2 years now.

Melts

I said this on another thread

On the radio this morning, they were discussing Suarez saying that his behaviour had been really good for the last year but he has ruined that by biting someone again.

My Mrs just laughed and said it sounded like they were talking about a 3 year old child at Nursery

Did you know that statistically you are more likely to be bitten by Luis Suarez than a shark?

Usain Bolt is shîtting himself.

Someone has told him Luis Suarez loves fast food.

The phone in I heard was people saying how nice he was off the pitch and what he did for the community, like that should somehow make a difference.

You do that in amateur football (certainly three times), you are banned for life. Talent or off field behaviour shouldn't have a bearing whatsoever.

What I think he will get is banned until the end of the world cup. What I think he should get is a lot different.

This probably shouldn't have made me laugh as much as it did.

Wonder how long the BBC have been holding on to this story. Lovely synergy on the BBC site today.

OP, who has been defending Suarez?

Everyone seems to think he's a "bit" of a nutter, and has some sort of mental issue. I haven't seen anyone defend him.

What I have seen is a MASSIVE overreaction by people, to what is essentially no more harmful than a kick in the shins. Yes, it's a weird thing to do, but not worthy of the outrage all over the media...... Particularly as it happened on the same day that England finished their worst world cup campaign since 1950. That would enrage me if I were English.

There are lots of people trying to defend Suarez - mainly by belittling what he has done. Biting is not the same as a kick on the shins. How can it be an overreaction when he is a repeat offender who doesn't seem to learn? And contrary to popular belief, it's the world press and not just the English press.

Nonsense.
A kick in the shins happens in football. As do high tackles etc etc. I'm not condoning them whatsoever but they happen as football is played with the feet and so it is inevitable these things may happen from time to time.
A bite however is premeditated. Has no place in the game whatsoever. It is more the principle than the action. For instance I would rather someone punch me rather than spit at me, same as I would rather someone kick me on a pitch than bite me.

Granted I have kicked people on a pitch before and committed a few bad challenges. So have some if my teammates and opposition players. NEVER before however have I seen someone bite a player.

Once is bad but can be forgiven
Twice is disgusting
Three times is simply deplorable and something serious IMO should now happen

"A bite however is premeditated."

he seems to do it on the fly out of nowhere. there is no morepremeditation than a rash challenge of studs to the knee.

I probably say the 'leg breaker' type challenges have more premeditation, they're usually revenge acts.

Suarez just seems to occasionally chomp on someone who's done nothing wrong to him. he's nuts.

See that? It says "No more harmful than a kick in the shins". because that's exactly what a bite is.

People may not like it, or may find it "disgusting", but at the end of all, it's just a bite and no more dangerous than a kick in the shins. Why all the media fuss?

"Why all the media fuss?"

because it's really, really weird and the act of a nutter

Do you not get it. Kick in the shins happen in football

Bites however simply don't. Off the top of my head I don't remember another player biting an opponent nevermind doing it THREE times. Kicks in the shins happens EVERY single game

posted on 25/6/14

kick on the shins or a studs up challenge is not worse than biting, football is a physical game so such things happen when two players compete to get the ball.

Biting is a violent savage act that has no place in football pitch. Suarez will get punished and lambasted for this and rightly so

posted on 25/6/14

I haven't read the article, but most Liverpool fans I've spoken to have condemned the actions of Suarez, and tried to distance themselves away as it was on international duty, probably more hopeful than anything.

Sorry, it's you who doesn't "get it".

My point is a bite is no more harmful than a kick in the shins. Would you like to try and argue that it is???

It's the third time he has done it. Are you seriously saying this? Would you seriously think the same if he wasn't a Liverpool player?

I'm staggered to be honest.

deliberate studs up challenges are 20x more dangerous and violent

the quite frankly insane nature of taking a mouthful of an oppostion player is far scarier and more unnerving despite the actual risk of injury being almost non-existent. It's freaky scary and weird.
