I believe the Uruguay press see it as something of a joke.
Hmmmm....what country does Suarez play his club football in?
Oh yeah...that's right

The Brazil press also laughed it off.
Roy Hodgson will be able to walk through Heathrow and not get noticed thanks to Suarez.

we are talking about the world cup, where international teams play I believe.
So technically, we should see a similar response to this disgusting behaviour by most media outlets in Europe or anywhere else in the world.
Well, America is busy with their own national team or Lebron James' decision to test free agency and the rest of Europe is focusing on THEIR OWN nation and criticising/praising them, like a country's media should be doing.
Like I said. I dont support what Suarez did, but if ever there was a time when the media are so desperately trying to cover for someone they love, its todays papers, and probably tomorrows unless if messi shoves his balls in a ball boys face after scoring this evening.
Like my own article suggests, this nation has a stigma over the mouth be it spitting and/or biting.
It's no different to a headbutt or an elbow - in fact, there's less medical risk.
The problem is that it is alien to the British game.
Its cultural and the Brit media are being culturally ignorant - as are the majority of British fans.
To me its not big news. Yeah he deserves to be punished but its a bite, not a leg breaker...not a career threatening tackle and not an elbow in the face.
People need to calm down.
I watched the game on Spanish TV and afterwards they tried their best to brush over the incident.
Presumably because Spain were quite happy that Italy were eliminated and because Suarez is/was likely heading to a Spanish club this summer.
Can you get anymore deluded than this
I don't think you understand what the word deluded actually means.
The problem is that it is alien to the British game.
=======================================================
I think that's true, but strangely, it's not alien to British rugby.

Stoning women to death who have affairs with married men is culturally acceptable in Syria and Iraq as is chopping the hands off people found guilty of stealing.
Domestic violence is acceptable in parts of the world
Making kids work long hours in harsh conditions for little or no pay is seen as acceptable in parts of Asia
Are you seriously saying that because something is deemed cultural, it's ok?
Can you get anymore deluded than this
==============
any more deluded than what exactly?
There is not 1 liverpool fan i have seen say "He should not be banned. What he did is fine and just as normal as taking a corner kick".
However, yesterday we had:
England knocked out of World Cup
Italy knocked out of World cup
Ivory Coast knocked out of World Cup
Greece through to the knock out stages of World Cup for first time in their history.
Colombia and Costa Rica top their group.
Gerrard/Lampard possible last games for England.
And the media chose to focus on a Uruguay player who according to the same papers is all but no longer a liverpool player from this summer.
And all this, coincidentally comes at a time when their dear Woy said England dominated the game and are unlucky to be going home so early at the World Cup.
If you choose to believe it's just the British media with an agenda that's fine by me
I didnt say the media has an anti-suarez agenda, but more of a pro-hodgson one and the suarez incident came perfectly fitted for them.

Could someone please find me a comment of a poster that says "biting someone is acceptable. I really cant see the fuss"?
Apparently, every liverpool fan has defended him and considers suarez's actions as normal. Where exactly?
As said before he plays in this country - so the coverage is here.
Conversely...when he bit the player over in the Netherlands initially, was it massively reported over here, due to our 'stigma' toward biting?
Actually, on all the Spanish press it's on the front page - you may not see it as the lead story but it is there. I is even in the non sport press front pages in Spain.
In Greece, it is just below the fact that Greece got through the group stages. Rightly so, the Greeks are proud.
In Germany, it's everywhere.
What these sports newspapers generally do is have a a small photo and short on the front page with a single or double spread inside. I am fed up with seeing the mock ups of Suarez as a vampire or dog in the Spanish media today.

The consensus seems to be its no worse than a studs up tackle or an elbow. No Liverpool fan is saying its acceptable, but the brush off is telling...

No and your example of a woman being stoned to death is a rather silly one.

Is it his fault then? Someone else to blame?

it was meant to link to the minute of the incident i wanted, which was the elbow by thatcher.
which trying it ouut now, it did, so you clearly didnt watch it.
Might want to recheck that...I watched it, it doesn't.
Could have just listed the example, however Suarez's action is worse, strange and somewhat disgusting.
Hence the widespread media coverage, here and abroad...
