but still the best left back in the world

depends on perspective, I wouldnt rate such a crap defender among top 5 FBs in the world
Macca,
Nobody disagrees that the kid is good at present and has potential and nobody minds paying a little bit extra but in my view this is 33-50% more than what we should be paying.
I honestly think we have the moaniest set of supporters ever, we're rivalling the gooners at this point

we just bought him ffs, How can you tell Luke Shaw is not good enough for that record.
It doesnt matter, we are not living in Laudrups, bagios times. We are living in a time where Luiz is worth 40m. some 16 year old will break that record soon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It doesn't matter what times we live in. The record fee will obviously rise but the type of player they're buying for it shouldn't.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
why not? Luiz's 40m transfer could well be the highest transfer fee in this summer

How is the price affecting you?
They are hardly going to slap 20 quid on the price of a match ticket because of the transfer and they are not going to increase sky subscriptions because of Luke Shaw either
Yes we have overpaid, but I always though this Summer, we would have too, and should. And we have now stengthened two positions on the field that badly needed it
I really see nothing to moan about
I remember thinking 'fek me' when we forked out what we did with Rio. Yes, I'm aware Rio was further down the road then than Shaw is now but I can't see what else Shaw could have achieved in his career to date at only 18
Quite a few of us were saying we needed to get players in, even if we have to overpay for them, this Summer because the squad was weak in certain areas, Pointless moaning about it now we are doing it
If Luke does sign obviously
Macca,
If we were owned by some Sheikh I probably wouldn't mind but we also need another CM, a winger and at least 1 CB. The cash reserves are not there to buy all that as well as Herrera and Shaw for over £60m.

Let the club worry about it, I'm sure they have spend a long time evaluating what we need, the money we have and the best course of action. Worrying about buying a very good player and things we have no control over is pointless, be happy we're buying players, and good young ones at that.

chelsea were selling us a player that would improve us and we are direct rivals to them, of course Mata wasnt going to come cheap.
Fabregas going to Chelsea doesnt directly affect Barcelona unless they meet in the CL next season so there is a big difference between the 2.

Wait and see
We have a new manager that might just be able to improve some of the players some United fans have given up on
Michael Keane, Tom Thorpe, Nick Powell and Jesse Lingard may be promoted too
We won't necessarily need a new winger if Van Gaal's tactics doesn't need a new winger
I cannot see us buying a new CM unless we offload one or two
But they didn't want Mata Dunc.
There is a big difference between Mata, Fabregas and Shaw.
2 are world class and established at the highest level, the other is Shaw

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am not angry my good fellow. I am disappointed. It saddens me when we pay over the odds for players especially those who from the evidence available so far are nothing special.
What saddens me more however, is that so many Utd fans are not disappointed that we've been shafted.
Really sad
"especially those who from the evidence available so far are nothing special."
Considering you compared him to Bridge who started off as a winger at Saints and played very differently to Shaw I would say that you probably haven't actually seen much evidence of the guy.
Like I said, I'd rather spend an extra £10m on a real talent like Shaw than the whole £10m odd we spend on Zaha. Sometimes you get a bargain, sometimes you end up paying over the odd, that's life, we've got a very good LB who is only 18, over the next 10 years he could possibly be one of the best full backs in the world.
How is the price affecting you?
They are hardly going to slap 20 quid on the price of a match ticket because of the transfer and they are not going to increase sky subscriptions because of Luke Shaw either
********************
Dude you are too old to be saying shiite like this. If they increased ticket prices to pay 30 million for him would you have paid it? I strongly doubt it because he would not be worth 20 quid extra to many here.
In any case it has nothing to do with whose pocket it is coming from, it is about our future dealings while operating in a fixed budget. Spending wisely is good for the club. I do not think I will need to be spelling this out to people here with businesses, jobs and families.

How can anyone claim that from evidence shown so far, Shaw is nothing special
He's just played at the World Cup at 18 fro crying out loud. And voted in the PL team of the year which I believe is voted by the other players
Where the fek do people expect Shaw to be at only 18.
Suggesting this kid doesn't have massive potential is just being bloody minded
Will he achieve his potential? Nothing is guarenteed but going off any available evidence so far, the guy is miles ahead of his age and that is the only evidence that is actually available. So, unless you would have expected an 18 year old LB to have achieved more at that age, then as I say, evidence currently suggests he is something special
Evidence so far certainly does not suggest this kid is nothing special
