I do stand by that. You have to take Suarez's dark side into consideration.

He's a total liability. This will be the third season running he's not started the season at Liverpool, assuming he stays.

Take that dark side away and then you're talking.

And Barca won't pay £80m for him. Delusional as ever over at anfailed.

Rooney will probably be England's greatest scorer, but unlike Charlton and Lineker below him in the goals, he wouldn't have delivered when it matters most.

Been better? How do you possibly know that? How do you know this wasn't as good as it's going to get for him?

-----

Because at 18, he was better than he was at 24 onwards. People talk about his goals and tactical awareness etc. I don't care about that. Rooney at 18 scared opposition, Rooney at 18 picked the ball up turned and beat players. He petrified opposition. He hasn't done that for years.

He's right you know.

What did Linekers goals matter? Never won anything with him either.

"If you're not first, you're nowhere" A very famous ex manager of Liverpool famously said those things.

Wayne Rooney has been a far better player than Lineker was. Some of the goals Rooney has scored simply weren't in Jug ear's locker.

Said it before, Rooney scores some incredible looking goals that ends up elavating him to something that he is not. I cannot class as him as an elite striker. Dont care what the stats say. Stats can be manipulated to favour whatever side of the fence you sit on. He is the best England player but he's a level below the elite strikers of this world.

Lineker was a better version of Hernandez. A natural born poacher. A penalty box striker.

Wayne Rooney can do everything he could but more. Lineker didn't have the 3 famous Rooney volleys in his locker or any of his delicate chips.

Linker was still a very good player don't get me wrong but he didn't have the talent Rooney has. He arguably just made the most of less ability.

"Agreed, Lineker wouldn't have scored an overhead kick with his shin, he would hit the ball with his foot"

Hahaha....
You are joking, right?

......................................................................

We mightn't have won anything but his goals earned him a golden boot at a World Cup & he generally performed well in an England shirt.

We came up against a genius at his best in 86, who knows where his goals might've taken us otherwise.

There's a difference.

Rooney's undoubtedly had a great career & will finish it with as you keep telling us, the honour of leading the scoring charts for Utd & England. Can't knock it.

That said, it doesn't equate to him being the best for either in that position.

For England I can think of a few better strikers at that level. One we've mentioned, another is out there in Brazil with him.

Nobody is going to pay £80m for a player who is nearly 28.......CRETIN !!!

And Wayne Rooney hasn't self destructed like Mr Chompy has. He put his talent to good use and won us trophies

You are a deluded bitter man united fan.

He will go for 100m. You are a jealous farking cant.

All in all, some fair points being made on Rooney.
I guess he would cry 'Foul', and say, "you try playing on the wing, or Midfield".
Not making excuses for him, like I said, there's some fair points being made about his current level of player.

How on earth did this become Suarez V Rooney?

Calling Sturridge better than Rooney is a bit ridiculous.. and ive made my feelings on rooney quite clear

Stringer
He's a good PL player no doubt.
I think a lot of us are in disappointment at what Rooney has become compared to what he could have become. He's the same age as me. I grew up watching him and actually thought he could be a player to go up against Messi and Ronaldo but it wasnt to be and I dont even think he's on the same level as RVP either. So it is a bit of disappoinment to be honest.

100m?? Dont be moronic. Madrid may have paid 80m for Ronaldo, but that doesnt mean theyre going to jumpto 100m for an older (at the time of purchase v proppsed purchase) and inferior player. 60-70m is more likely.

£100m for a player who is 28 in January, banned for 4 months of the season and clearly not all there mentally.

Good luck with that and don't hold your breath

And if you do somehow manage to get a world record fee for him, then whoever got that fee at Liverpool should be knighted.

Yes but Ronaldo was arguably the best player in the world at the time. Suarez is now in his peak and probably wont improve.
