Ozil is a good player.
But he's not been the same player since leaving Madrid. You can't just say he needs to adjust to the Premier League/Arsenal because he's played the same way with Germany.
So obviously something has changed with him.
Most people are criticizing him today because he basically stopped the scoreline from being a perfect 8-0.
Wow this Ozil bashing from Arsenal fans is embarrassing
Cannot believe the criticism he's receiving; as has been mentioned, he retained possession in the final third brilliantly, made good runs, set-up a number of chances - including the Khedira goal - and the cross-field ball to put Draxler through with the outside of his foot was unbelievable.
It's become almost fashionable to criticise Oezil. To be frank, I only really care what he does for Arsenal. I'm hugely looking forward to his first full season with Arsenal.

Pretty sure he's had that
"But he's not been the same player since leaving Madrid. You can't just say he needs to adjust to the Premier League/Arsenal because he's played the same way with Germany."
I don't think it's that he needs to "adapt" at all.
I think it's that for most of the season, he played behind a lamppost of a CF, and more often than not two central midfielders being deployed out wide.
Honestly not sure what people expect him to do, he gets the ball in the final third, looks up, and just has a smattering of static players staring straight at him.
Hopefully a fit Walcott & Sanchez will drastically change this.
Schurle came on at 5-0, don't overate his performance as the hard work was done before he even got on the pitch.
Ozil Imo played very well and was probably an 8 out of 10. Kheidra was the best player today.
I have no problem admitting when Ozil is poor. It's the hysterical overreactions to a decent game that I don't get. It seems many of these rival fans expect him to be like Messi. Ozil had plenty of really good moments tonight but some would try to twist it into a poor performance because it wasn't a 10/10.
Rival fans REALLY ARE obsessed with him.
I never ever seen someone get criticised as much as Özil. Sure at some points last season he did deserve it but if you look at his stats he's been the best creator out of everyone.

Including some sort of pre-season, and the five games that he missed at the start.
What match was everyone watching? Ozil played well today has done well in the world cup so far.

Not really - I don't. I do tend to get irritated when the people go to the other extreme and suck him off even when he's poor.
Agree Sheriff, it seems Ozil has to be genius or atrocious in many peoples eyes.
Tonight he was fairly good. Not spectacular, but not bad at all
You fools didn't he get three assists today? That's his job
I thought tonight Ozil was pretty decent, pulled out of some tackles early on and missed a sitter at the end but otherwise did OK
I feel like unless Ozil plays like Messi at his best, people bang on about how terrible he is, when most of the time he's had at least a decent game. Aside from the missed chance (which wasn't far off) he was pretty good tonight. A solid 7/10. 2 assists was it? Either way he had a greater contribution to the general build up play.
Backed Schurle to score next at 7-0 @16/1 and backed Germany to win 8-0 at half time @28/1. Ozil facked me over big time, should have squared it.
Hahaha, you must have been seething. Terrible miss!

He was so good at Real but he's been so poor since Christmas and in this world cup píss poor! Terrible. He touched the ball three times in 90 minutes and missed a sitter. Surely Schurrle is a better bet for the final.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You dont know how to actualy 'watch' football, do you? Three times?/
He had many touches, some very good passes , including a brilliant assist.
He certainly wasnt at his best, but to say he only touched the ball three times is a plain lie, and pretty idiotic.
Try harder next time you watch a Football match ( eyes open, face facing the screen, that kind of thing)
