RB originally or CB cover

Right back/centre back, young kid. I know a Cov fan at work who says he's the bee's bollox.

Done and dusted apparently.

I'm happy with this free transfer. I've seen him play very good fullback. He's better than what we have

I don't think it's completely free Wassa - we have to pay Cov some compo in view of his age. I suspect he will want a wage aswell.

Question is, are we signing him as first choice RB or competition?

Vidal, I know they're sorting out a compensation package because of his age. But, all the rumours I keep hearing, Derby are hopeful of being in the top 2, by adding 3 (and not my words, one of the coaching staff said it) more additions will hopefully get us to the promised land. The only way you are going to get quality players, is by spending a bit of cash. George Thorne. It's de ja vu all over agin, just like previous seasons, where we can't agree deals, cause of clauses in certain players contracts. Well that's the excuses we hear from the football club, or fans in the know.

I would hope Christie is a squad player and we might go back for the guy at Bournemouth or Wanchope's mate.

Wassa, I share your frustration at he moment but what we hear from Griff etc who have some info suggests that there is a fair bit of cash around and that we have bid for a number of players. Rush has done really well with the contracts of our midfielders etc but transfers are more complicated and take longer. As fans we all wants Georgey signed up and we don't particularly care about the fine print but surely we can't accept a 60% sell-on clause for West Brom (if it's true). It seems players are coming and while it would be better to have them all for pre-season it isn't always possible. Compared to previous seasons there does seem a definite sense of getting stuff sorted, to me at least.

“We retain compensation rights but, for the sake of the player, I am quite willing to do some sort of creative deal in terms of player exchange and high sell-on clause to try to ensure the lad gets a club.”

Who's going there then??

Yes, we all want Thorne in plus a couple of others. But as vidals says we can't just accept any old terms that the selling club starts at. The supposed deal WBA want for Thorne is ridiculous and completely unacceptable from Derby's point of view. The £1.5m Boro want for Juke is over the top (more than they paid for him before he failed there!), hence why he hasn't moved anywhere yet, despite 4 potential suitors. If we want Juke we'll get him for £1m if we wait. Thorne it all depends if WBA agree to budge. We need to be patient. As it stands we have a perfectly acceptable starting line-up if Christie signs, with Eustace holding. We musn't forget Eustace played during the majority of McClaren's season, so if we have to wait to Aug 31 for Thorne it's still not the end of the world!

Sam'll sort it. Chill.

Bennett on loan...?

posted on 10/7/14

Naylor Right Back and possibly Bennett on loan, seem to have a good relationship with Coventry since Keogh came here n Bailey and Ball went there.

Kinda want Bennett to take over from Bamford, the 4-3-3 we play I think hasn't helped him break into our team but then 4-3-3 is a baaaaad maaaan of a formation for us.

Creative deal - could mean we have to put on an arts event in Coventry or something. I could bring my Saxophone along for a rendition of 'This land is my land'

In other news the Queen got off a train in Matlock, waved for approximately 4 minutes before going to see her rich friends at Chatsworth. Matlock residents are awestruck at how down to earth she seemed and how great it was of her to wave at us on her way to an oppulent feast in a big house on a lot of land that should be ours. I wouldn't have minded it's just I had to wash the kids and put them out in their Sunday best insetad of chucking em down mine, so now I've lost a full days wages for the 2 of em. Bloody Queen, I never voted for her.

Wassa you have been around these boards long enough to know my cynical feelings towards GSE. This said however it does not seem coincidental that Mr Appleby has almost vanished and allowed Sam Rush to steady the ship. Rush is no Tom Slick and from the wider business context the man has not put a foot wrong up till now and the Clough sacking was a brave move considering the timing.

Very little business has been done full stop at the minute mainly due to the World Cup no doubt and the transfer window never has a huge amount of steam at this point. From the fans forums to the info coming out of the club, quite freely I might add, they are doing as they said they would. We knew the current players were the priority to tie down, that done on to the next.

From what I was told around the Thorne transfer was simple, the club will not do deals that first and foremost don't benefit the club and the hard work undertaken already first. Secondly the club will not be held to ransom something we have in the past.

Yes its frustrating, yes its easy to be cynical to the rubbish we have been told before, but I'm confident that the club are working like crazy to get deals done. Lets not also forget we have brought in some stonking future potential.

I have more faith in Rush and McClaren than I have had in my club for many years.
