This will be nothing more than papering the cracks win.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We didn't even win
Had we won this dead rubber they might have thought we were not that bad but thankfully they have been humiliated good and proper.
How is that even possible?
Duncan we do this every year. Did exact same thing against SA last year. They are one of weakest side mentally in world sport.
We have made Maxwell look like Shane Warne
Pakistan can make even the worst teams look the greatest team in the world. No im not pointing at australia here. They can make India's away record look really good. haha. This one team in complete shambles. Have to give it to aus.Younis khan would be laughing right now.
I dont blame shahid afridi for this lose, but with experiance he has gone from worse to bad. how can a person playing 400 odis, still only average 23 and 34 with the bat and ball. he is a bits and pieces player and hard to see how Pakistan cannot get better players. Pakistan would rather have genuine bowlers/batsman. Obviously as with India the problem seems to lie on the grass roots. hard to change it overnight.
subcontinent teams bar SL are struggling big time IMO. hard to see how any of them will reach semis of WC.
Put it this way, we were so ssssshhtt that Zulfi Babar finishes the ODI series with a better batting average than Shafiq, Shehzad, U Akmal, U Amin, Fawad, Misbah & Afridi
When your batsmen can't bat. It's a hopeless cause. We are shocking.
Viru spot on about Afridi
When you're the last batsman and you have 50/60 runs to chase down then what the hek are you doing playing such a risky shot when the situation doesn't even need you to!!
Anyway, so who's fault was it today? Misbah's?
The fact that we are relying on bum bum to bat is embarrassing enough. The highest he should bat is 9. He is a bit of a laughing stock to be honest. It's all good hitting spin bowling but every side in the world knows that put a fast bowler on him and he is clueless.
I find it amusing how Pakistsn fans are quick to point the finger at Afridi everytime Pakistan lose. No other fans in the history of the game rely so much on a 7th place batsman than Pakistsn fans.....
Afridi is primarily a bowler, only has been always will be. Coming into the game, his bowling was off par, but he can hold his head up high with his bowling performance - overall a massive improvement.
When will the media, fans, management, PCB, press and other connected with this team realise that our problem is 1-6 batsman. 6 players sole job was to bat..... Why the fekkk is a bowler blamed consistently for the pathetic batsmen we have???
Meant coming into the series his bowling was rubbish.... Had a good series with ball
I agree with Kash that Afridi should be batting lower then number 7. We seriously need to find some proper all rounders.
Hafeez will be back soon which will mean we shouldn't need Babar. That should stretch our batting order.
Also shouldn't Hammad Azam be given a real chance. Whenever I've seen him play he only gets to bowl 2 or 3 overs and hardly got to bat. Never got a run in the team.
TLLL,
Hammad had his chance, couldn't take it, but I agree that we need fresh faces. Forget all-rounders mate, we need to find batsmen that have quality, aggression and consistency. Until we don't stregthen our numbers 3,4,5 we'll struggle.
If you look at our bowling performances this series, we've actually restricted aussies brilliantly on batting pitches. We are just embarrassing.
Afridi,
Nowadays all teams need a batting line up till #8. If not then at least #7. Lets just take the India vs WI games as example. India have Jadeja and Kumar at #7 and #8. Both who CONTRIBUTE. WI have Sammy and Russell. Today Aussies had Haddin and Faulkner at #7 and #8.
We have Afridi who at #7 who NEVER contributes. We need batting till #7 at least if not till #8.
Fact is we will never have batting till #8 in ODIs whilst Ajmal is around esp when we have to play 3 seamers therefore it's imperative that we have a proper allrounder at #7 or a proper batsman.
Any other player would have finished the game off today at #7, especially being captain, it's a disgrace that Afridi got out to that shot.
Afridi, Hammad was never really given a chance tbh.
Till, I agree with you exactly. It's ridiculous considering this world cup is in Aus and we've had years to find a new seaming all rounder since Razzaq's days were over, yet we seem worse off than 2010.
Hammad suits the bill also. I have no idea what he's like nowadays but a couple of years ago when he played a couple of games, he showed good ability in hitting the ball big and clean and also bowled more than 80mph+.Perfect but Pak just didn't give him opp and continued with losers like Afridi.
Robin,
Those batsman you mention, in most instances come in with the orher "proper" batsman having set the scenr and laid down the platform. With Pakistan it's not like that because the top 6 are useless.
For me, your numbers 3,4,5 winning you games and set up the foundations (remember younis, Inzy and yusuf days). These current bunch are a complete utter joke, including Afridi. But if we're not chasing low totals or scoring at least 240 when batting first, look at the top and middle order- not your bowlers.
True our bowlers always perform. We haven't found/brought up any batsman since the days when we had Inzy, Yousef and Younis.
Misbah has been decent but not on the same level as the other 3 mentioned above.
Azhar, Shafique, Fawad, Umar Akmal and Amin hae been given chance after chance but hardly ever step up which is frustrating. I have high hopes for Maqsood hope he steps up.
