The ICC president has said that he can bowl with a bent arm. How much more clear do want it to be?

and another change
ok - a bowler can bowl with a bent arm, as long as its consistent throughout his action.
The issue is the degree a bowler straightens it at teh point of deliver, and if you look at Chuckmal, he does straighten it.
I cant find anything which the ICC has specifically allowed for Ajmal.
The rules apply to all bowlers.
p.s. 5 more days to go...and Footys back on. May be going to the game on Sunday, put a bid in for 2 tickets (£130 for the pair)
I think the issue with Ajmal - and I've thought it for a while - is that while he bowls with a bent arm it straightens considerably when he bowls his variations.
Straight is fine, bent is fine but you cannot in your delivery straighten or bend your arm (over the "murali 15 degrees".
For me he chucks it, as I believe murali did - but in both cases if ICC tests clear them then fair play its my eyes.
Malinga also chucks his yorkers but his slingy action disguises just how much his arm flexed.
I understand that off spinners could benefit from variety but good ones didn't seem to need teesra doosra and carrom balls.
I guess Charlie is not going to be very effective in the current match.

Neon he has already said that like Murali in the past that the ICC have given him special dispensation to bowl with that action. Due to an accident it is not possible for him to bowl in a straight arm.

That's like saying an Olympic swimmer with webbed armpits and flippers (the man from Atlantis) gets special treatment because he was born that way.
Twenty gold medals later and they check his breaststroke
Shouldn't be allowed.
seems the 2 best off spinners in the world (barr Swann, who did play by the rules) have had an accident which allows them to be better bowlers
load of tosh
p.s. the ICC have not given Chuckmal anything. He made this up

Education Neon. Murali was born with a defect and Ajmal hurt himself. Accidents happen. He's been through very rigorous testing by independent assessor's and they have concluded he can bowl with a bent arm. Not sure why you are finding this hard to understand?

Correction. Bowling with a bent arm is fine, as long as it doesn't straighten during the action.
Ajmals does.
The ICC have given no special rule for Ajmal.
Anyway, if it dident look suspect, he wouldn't have been reported

Ajmal doesn't chuck at all it's a load of rubbish. People just can't hack it that he's one of the best spinners in the world. They didn't like it with Murali and now doing the same with Ajmal.
lefty just because your anti Pakistan it doesn't mean your right about everything either!
Reported because some of the umpires are racist just like when apparently it was illegal for Shoaib Akhtar to bowl really fast
Racist
Www.ShoulderChipRemoval.com
If the umpires are racist then why were Botha and Williamson banned from bowling?
I would like to know why exactly bowlers are allowed to bowl with a bent arm anyhow? Should they not have to bowl with a locked elbow like fast bowlers?
Additionally the 15% rule is stupid, because it gives an advantage to spinners. A fast bowlers flex is caused by the inertia of the ball held in the hand, spinners do not have the same excuse for having this limit. It would seem modern spinners are using this tolerance to "chuck" just a little bit to help out certain deliveries.
Aside from the freakish Muralia case what exactly is the justification for letter bowlers bowl with a bent arm?
Having played as a bowler for 20 odd years, I can assure you it is impossible to bowl the doosra without straightening you arm. We even tried it at work the other day, and none of my cricket playing colleagues could do it.
I believe Murili was a freakish exception, as was proved by the tests he did with the arm brace fitted. His arm was bent for the entirity of the delivery, which is legal. Only the straightening of the arm beyond 15deg is illegal.
End of the road for Ajmal. Suspended from bowling probably for good now considering he is 37.
Disappointing to see anyone banned. But I dunno how you can bowl the doosra without bending yer arm. likes been said. I feel sorry for offspinners though. They get no help bowling orthodox these days..
