What did you make of his performance?

For a first league start at his new club he was quite assured.

He strikes me as someone who isn't fazed by pressure.

I predict a good future at the club.

I thought his performance was very good and he looks like he will be a great player for years to come. Fantastic signing.

Played well. Just a pity he had a flapping idiot next to him.

Love the way he steps out of defence and bullies the opposing centre forward. Can pass the ball well too and looks quite assured in possession. Against Dortmund also I was struggling to see whether he was left footed or right that's how competent he seems to be with both feet unlike Sakho or Skrtel who are very one footed.

Not getting too excited yet but he has the makings of a Sami Hyypia with the leadership of Carra thrown in too.

Did he play as the left center back at Saints? I thought the plan would be to have Lovren and Sakho as our center back pairing.

That’s only his second game, (and only his first competitive game), but I think he’s taking no time at all to fit in. Looks confident, good organiser, seems good at spotting danger, two-footed, distribution is good.

Some might argue he should have stopped Tadic back-heeling into Clyne’s path for the goal, but it was a well-worked goal, and he didn’t get much cover.

The thing that bothered me last season was the cheap goals we shipped, and hopefully he’s going to help resolve that.
He looks an excellent signing so far.

Had an excellent and assured first half but got muddled with Skrtel in the second. Liked him before we signed him and thought it was a good enough debut. Some strong defensive errors and used the ball well in the first half.

He'll learn from that and fortunately at no cost to us points wise.

Looks a good player, a leader who covers well and passes well.

Very early days but he looks like star. He has that sort of game about him that catches people's eye in a good way.

I reckon he will score a fair few too.

he is a real menace in the air as he proved last season too. And he has scored a couple of 30+ yard belters in the past also, has two very good feet.

good passing ability, comfortable in possession, reads the game seemingly well (would like to watch him more in this regard), has ideal build for a CB and is no slouch

i think £20m for all that, and at his age, is good business in today's transfer market

Lots of people got over excited about his apparent high fee but if he consistently shows the level he has in his first couple of games his price tag will be very quickly forgotten.

Loved the way that he lead the defence yesterday. Skrtel doesn't do it nearly enough

Every time i've heard Lovren talk its always been good listening, unlike so many modern footballers. He talks about winning a lot and just comes across as a good pro, which is good to see because when he was at Lyon there were lots of question marks around his temperament, when in one 2/3 week spell he picked up x3 red cards

i have to admit o thought he would be average but he looks decent and much quicker than i expected. i think he will turn out to be a very good signing. we will see how good he is next week
