At this point i fancy either county or st mirren for the definite drop.

That said, i think craig will be punted (how he is in a job in the first place is a joke to me) and they will bring in someone else in to steady them

Keny

We were talking about that yesterday and I'm not sure who will go down quite yet. I really think County will be in among it though and I suspect it'll be them, St Mirren and Killie fighting it out.

Up the top of the league, I've been surprised at how poorly Aberdeen and Motherwell have started. The Dons will no doubt recover but I'm not so sure about Motherwell getting in about the European spots. I've been equally surprised at how well Inverness are doing. I thought they'd struggle with Yogi.

I dont think aberdeen are the great shakes they are being made out to be tbh.

Mccall has a tough job at well, he's done a fine job but i cant see him doing any better than he is.

United are like hibs a few years ago in that they have imo some of the best players in the league, however unlike hibs they are also on a sound financial footing right now, so another sale or 2 for good money and it will increase your budgets, thats the benefit of good youth development.

Celtic have henderson and mcgregor right now but i cant see many more at present...

United are still too inconsistent to do anything.

United do have inconsistency but at the same time we've got greater squad depth at the moment. It depends on what you mean by doing something timmy - our ultimate aim at the moment is to try to get 2nd. Keep in mind that if we did achieve that it would be our 2nd best league finish in our 105 year history.

As for Celtic, I think there has been an overreaction to what happened yesterday. Making 10 changes was never going to work and was always going to lead to difficulties. It was like when we went to St Johnstone at the turn of the year and made similar changes and lost. You need a team to gel and throwing in so many changes doesn't lend itself to that.

I mean getting into Europe or winning a cup.

As for Celtic the manager got it wrong but if we qualify all will be forgiven.

I'm ok with the changes yesterday tbh

Tuesday is by a million miles our most lucrative game this season, nothing comes remotely close financially. We would have to win the league about 15 times to touch it.

Potential cup finals aside its also our most important game in terms of competition.

We will win the league, no doubt about that so this brings in fans, and money which we have been getting the last few years so if this is our squad now i dread to think what it would be like without it.

10 changes showed us that a few players cant and wont cut it at celtic, and that others cant be relied upon to step up when they are the experienced memebers of the squad. Ambrose seemed the only one to really care.

Was it u that said last week about celtics ability to comeback from a goal down? The fringe players clearly cant

posted on 24/8/14

timmy, we've been in Europe a few times in recent years so that defeats your argument there, while we were obviously only one game away from winning the cup last season and I see no reason why we can't go one better this.

It'll be difficult for us to get 2nd but not impossible.

I disagree with that mate.

I know it's different circumstances but again looking back at our game at St Johnstone, the whole team was awful. However, guys like Dow went on to play a key role (and still does) while players like Gomis were still good backups when coming in to our full strength team.

I think it's premature to write these boys off on the back of one poor game in those circumstances.

When were you last in Europe?

posted on 24/8/14

The 2012/13 season. We qualified for Europe 3 seasons in a row. We haven't qualified for the last 2 seasons (this season included).

Its not one poor game tho mate.

Twardzik, mcgeouch and zaluska have never impressed me tbh

O'connell just looks like a big bruiser tbh

I'm not writing them off on one mate, look at mcgregor, forrest and henderson, they all stepped up

posted on 24/8/14

When Twardzik played against United at the end of last season as part of your settled team people were saying he was MOTM.

Zaluska was never that great to tell the truth and in fairness I've not seen enough of McGeouch or O'Connell to really have an opinion.

Surely if rangers or celtic came second in the top flight it would also be their second bestplaced finish in history

I thought he played very well in that game ivan i was arguing with a few on here saying he was doing well.

But you have to consistently take ur opportunities and i dont think he does that, i dont think he is better than izzy either and defensively thats saying something

posted on 24/8/14

lauders, I see what you're saying but what I meant was we've finished 1st once and then third a handful of times. What I probably should have said is it would have been, in league terms, our second best season ever.

Keny, you see them more than I do but I just hope this doesn't turn Celtic supporters off the idea of developing and giving opportunities to your own. These boys need a run of games to find their feet, not to be thrown in once every few months and told they have to produce or that's it. Imagine the pressure to take their chance. They'll be trying too hard rather than playing their natural game.

I'm all for it mate, but in those quantities it cant happen.

Or, if ur going to play fringe players from the youth squad, give them all a game, the first 11

posted on 24/8/14

We scored from 2 set-pieces. Has that ever happened before?

posted on 24/8/14

And we didn't concede from one

I was at the St Mirren game yday they battered a decent Dundee team but couldn't score apparently it was the same away to Motherwell on the opening day.

That's Thompson back for them now, they'll start picking up points.

Btw Wighton at Dundee is a top top player.

John McGinn at St Mirren is probs the most intelligent player I've seen for a while outwits Celtic

I wasn't impressed at all with Dundee, I suspect they'll be a lot lot better at home

To be fair, that's not difficult.

How did you manage that anyway? The "s" and "h" keys are 3 letters apart.
