Offensive issues today have been a slowed left hand side + Rooney & van Persie not being a good partnership for 352.

The lack of devastating pace upfront to run in behind has severely hindered Mata/Januzaj's ability to hurt Sunderland. In this system Danny Welbeck should be our first choice centre forward, with one of Rooney & van Persie alongside. We should also look at playing Shaw/Rojo/Blackett at left wing-back every game possible. Young/Lingard ect. are cover, but not suited to the role at all naturally. In this system both should only be playing either up front or in the hole. Not as wing-backs, and even more so not on the left.

Blackett is the player benefiting the most from this system, and looks like if he develops into a truly top player, he'll be if the Eric Abidal/Gabriel Heinze mould to use semi-modern examples. Smalling also looks to be growing a lot in his new role. Definitely our first choice defender, and I imagine he'll be fine for our next league game.

Fletcher struggled today also.

Jones,Keane,Blackett are the only positives from that match.

The defender didn't get the ball. Both Sunderland players cleared RVP and maybe touched the ball after going through RVP.

Blackett loves a cheeky hoof though, it has to be said.

I started watching from 60 mins on but I though our defending was better than last weel

1 point away to Sunderland with a unbalanced squad isnt that bad but that home result last week was the real kick in the teeth.

The sky pundits are ex man utd and sunderland representatives. I am shocked they don't see the clear Cattermole fouling of RVP, it doesn't matter if the other player touched the ball and kicked RVP to if Cattermole also stood on RVP. Clear penalty.
