Why not try buying wing backs to play as central defenders... #versatilosophy
Shaw 27
Herrera 28
Rojo 16
Di Maria 60
Blind 14
145 million spend right there
Go Ed
Well one has been playing dm at club level and the other has been playing cb at club level.
But I suppose because they played a few games at the world cup at left back it means they are left backs.
Just like it meant Paul Scholes was a left winger after Euro 2004.
But it's not like you to talk absolute ballacks is it, Pundit? So we must have sign two more left backs off the back of the world cup. Woe is United.
How many international caps between them for £145m?
Blind played LB till de Boer converted him last season.
Why are you buying left wing backs when you need centre backs? Genuine question.
Bale started as a LB too, doesn't mean he is best there
Pundit, who gives a fek?!?!
Caps aint the be all or end all.
As Dazza said, Rojo is a natural CB who has mainly played there but is adept as a LB.
Daley Blind started out as a LB but last year for Ajax he enjoyed a Lahmesque move into a defensive central midfield position and excelled there.
More round pegs in square holes.
You have the wrong system.
Has anyone seen him play regularly? He was ok during World Cup, nothing special. Very underwhelmed with his signing to be frank based on his World Cup performances.
I don't think many have. That's why basing our opinion on Rojo and Blind is pointless as they only played a few games and didn't play in the positions they've been playing at club level.

I was thinking this, like most people my knowledge comes from seeing him at the WC and the occasional CL and Europa League highlights programme.
He seems like a fairly sold 6.5 out of 10 every week type of player, like Phil Neville or Wes Brown,if that's the type of player we're after we may as well get Richie de Laet or Robbie Brady back at the club
I wouldn't even make such claims as I haven't seen him play dm for Ajax. I think we are just going to have to acknowledge our ignorance on this one. I've read good things about Blind at Ajax - he's a player that was completely written off only to start performing well and then transform himself into a midfielder and become their key player and player of the year - but that alone isn't enough to go off when you've not seen enough of him play to firstly judge how good he is as a footballer and secondly where he fits in at United.
As an example, I'd seen far more of Berbatov than Hernandez before we signed the players (only seeing Hernandez at the world cup before he signed, incedently). And Berbatov looked twice the player. But in their time at United I'm of the opinion Hernandez was a better fit.
So with that in mind I'll reserve my judgement. Di Maria is the only player we've signed I can have a solid opinion on.
Not sure he's what we need tbh.
He said a couple weeks back he prefers La Liga to the PL because he isn't a physical player. Add the fact that he is relatively slow and he's pretty much the opposite of a Vidal type CM which is what we needed IMO.
Also, he's naturally a LB and we already have already spalshed £47mil on Shaw and Rojo who can play there.

Pundit and Tux have to be two of the worst posters on this site. I actually puke up a little in my mouth every time I read one of their posts.
Still chucking money at it
That's a lot of money spent this summer for not a great deal of improvement.
You boys have been mugged fee wise, paying double what those guys are worth.
