Even with Suarez we would have found it hard to juggle Prem and CL. Last season was a one off playing one game a week.
The main target this season is to ensure we get a 2nd season in the CL and if that by finishing 4th, winning Europa League if CL goes bad then so be it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So, you don't think that you should have had the quality (even without Suarez and Sturridge) to gain a solid victory against Ludogrets?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If we continue to play like last night in October then I would be worried but I expect us to pick up and gain "More Solid" victories in the coming weeks.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for your sensible contribution . I also expect you to improve (as I expect us to improve too), in general however, I don't expect you to reach the same heights as you did last season with Suarez.
we expect less so there is no optimism to be diminished. Any improvement on 7th this season and I'll be happy
======================================
Right.
So you spend £190,000,000 on players, and have no optimism, regarding a title challenge, and only hope for anything above 7th, as a sign of improvement, in a season were you will play no European football ?
Think your time might be better spent discussing your own clubs future, on your own clubs forum, if you feel this is anything like the general consensus among United fans after the last transfer windows spending.

We're 4 games into the season, are you fu cking serious?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just a question dude. Do you think that losing Suarez will affect the campaign more than you anticipated?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No idea, will answer that when we've played a few games
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Naturally we will miss Suarez, any team will, in the last 2 games missing Studge has been an issue too, add to the fact that yday was Mario's 3rd game for us then you can begin to see why we've started slowly.
Also we've got Moreno, Maquillo, Lallana, Markovic, Lovren also having only played a handful of games so it would be naive to expect it to be a smooth and awesome as we were last season.
So of course we miss Suarez as he was by far the best player on the PL last season and for me is the best striker in the world.
The next 2 months will be a bit tricky, we will drop some points over thsi period while we continue to develop as a team but look at our result away at Spurs, we played our favoured Diamond formation, had 2 proper strikers up top in Studge and Mario and we hopped off a top 4 contender, that alone gives me more then enough confidence that we can still be an excellent attacking side and will score goals, even last night once Borini came on and stayed centrally Mario instantly improved. He also had a far better game v Spurs when he played in a two with a proper striker.
So yes OP we are missing one of the worlds best players but we have shown by beating Spurs away 0-3 that we can still play fluid attacking football when we play our preferred system with the right personnel.
Last night we played allot of the game, as we did v Villa, with a lone striker in a 433, it's not our best formation and we'd so many new players that it was flat and lacked cohesion, but we will have to play this formation at times this season and it will only get better the more we play it so despite a poor result v Villa and a lucky win last night it's more time for the players in that system which will benefit us in the long run.

It's completely irrelevant, as we didn't have a Bale or a Suarez to sell for nearly £100m! We lost players, who were at the end of contracts and have loaned several out.

I think that given the players that have come in we need to allow time for them to gel. I am holding a sense of "realism" for this season, with the hope that we can have a stormer next season.
It's incredible how expert some people are only 4 games in! We managed well enough without him - which you can't deny - and we're bedding in new players. What is so difficult about that?
I don't expect you to reach the same heights as you did last season with Suarez.
====================================
So your point is, Liverpool are not going to be as good, without Suarez at their club, than they were with him at their club.
How enlightening of you.

I just remembered that many were saying that you'd be fine without Suarez because you added depth, basically hoping that the team would carry last seasons form. Obviously, losing a WC player has affected your teams morale more than (many of) you guys anticipated
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Perhaps you misunderstood what we meant by 'fine'. I think a lot of rival fans think that we reckon we're serious title contenders again (yes there were one or two tongue in cheek comments in articles) but realistically most of us felt a serious top 4 challenge was where we'd be at and maybe a title challenge if we're still around the top by March or so.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
OK, maybe I did misunderstand. But I took it to mean that you would have a similar season to last year, as many of the comments in the article backup
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wouldn't say they back it up, you have a few wild ones, a few GB articles and some that aren't unreasonable suggestions in my view. Like I said they're a little tongue in cheek but then again after a month of 'You're going to do a Spurs' you're bound to lash out.
I'm fairly happy with the window, felt Lovren and Lallana were about £5-7m over their value and we could of done with a top, top player but that was never going to be likely. Probably best player who we could of realistically signed was someone like Shaqiri.

Don't get me wrong I'm sure there were people making those sorts of comments, you get them with all clubs but personally talking to Liverpool fans I get the sense that most would happily take 4th from the start of the season.
JA has become a pretty war-torn place full of bickering and point scoring so I tend to not take what people say too seriously anymore.
The 'wild optimism' when Suarez left ?
Yeah, we were indeed dancing in the street at the prospect of losing one of the best forward players in world football.
Look, only time will tell, lets just give it a couple of months before we starting handing out accolades, or lamenting the lack of quality, in players who have yet to play more than a handful of games at their new club.
It was December/January last year before we properly hit our stride, and it was similar in Rodgers' first season.
We'll be fine.

Max, jlou and Mafia - please píss off. How is it that Kneerash and Jordan Henderson's Backheel can have a sensible discussion and you 3 are constantly trying to derail it?

What are you talking about? You made a stupid article and I'm taking you on about it. If you don't like debate then don't write articles.

You aren't debating though, you are just being abusive. Look at Kneerash's comment or JHB's and compare them to your own. See the difference?

As I said, I remembered reading many comments along those lines at the time, so went to see if my memory was correct or distorted...!
I fully expect you to improve, and I think you are now cemented as a Top team again, I just don't think Top 4 will be as easy as many of you predicted.

Don't get me wrong I'm sure there were people making those sorts of comments, you get them with all clubs but personally talking to Liverpool fans I get the sense that most would happily take 4th from the start of the season.

Fair play, and good luck for the season. Although I don't expect us to, I hope we give you a run for 4th!!

Really looking forward to the United game, if both have a fully fit side it should be a cracker.
