Media is too busy making excuses for Liverpool
As long as Mike Riley is in charge and the PGMO exists in its current state refereeing performances will remain largely unscrutinized
Riley did alright by man utd a few times if I remember right though
"My professional experience can guarantee you that if there are no consequences for bad performance, employees will take you from granted and it's downhill from there as an employer."
He's had a few shockers recently but I don't get that statement. He doesn't work for you, for all you know he might have had a bollocking and been sent down the leagues for a few weeks.
I get the lvg should have said something, just not the analogy.
Maybe he'll look at the shocking decision again, feel bad and appreciate the fact we didn't hammer him for it then give us a dodgy decision next time.
He should be executed really.
for all you know he might have had a bollocking and been sent down the leagues for a few weeks.

I highly doubt it. We will see next weekend....
Give a dodgy decision in favour of united = Your name in the press under scrutiny for weeks. Your boss has to act.
Give a decision against united = Press focus on United's performance. You win the heart of the UK and nobody cares.
You do realise that Clattenburg is not employed by Manchester United! There's a joke about Howard Webb here somewhere.

What's the point you are trying to make by stating the obvious. May be you should read your comment couple of times before posting.
Clattenburg should be demoted to the championship this week, if he isn't then something is desperately wrong
Clattenburg is a poor ref.

Try reading your op. You make it sound as if the club employ Clattenburg but as your being touchy I'll leave you to your bitching.
The thing about Clattenburg is that he's outrageously arrogant. He walks around the pitch thinking he's Gods beard.

Thank you. Everyone except you understood OP.
No problem, I understood what you meant to say. Look at Meltons comment again.
I would be annoyed if that decision was given against us but I would a lot more annoyed that the team folded after that.
It's because the team collapsed that the poor decisions are being overlooked.

From my thread the other day.
.........................
2. My other point, and I harped on about this yesterday, is that Clattenburg has got away with one of the most shoddy performances from a top referee I have seen for some time. SAF would not have allowed that. Jose wouldn't have allowed that, Harry Rednapp wouldn't have allowed that.
It is admirable that LVG has shifted the blame to the players, and rightly so for the total bottle job we saw there yesterday.
But IMO, you can't let bad officialdom set a precedent. Next weeks ref will have no fear what so ever of making bad decisions.
I accept we are going to get bad decisions, and I also accept we will benefit from them, that still doesn't make it right.
Do we really have to go into this blame the ref routine, we've always said that you get bad decisions for you and against you at the end of the day we blew a 2 goal lead, yes tbe penalty was harsh and Rafa should of had a free kick, BUT the players let the decisions get to them and they lost their discipline, so dry your eyes son and look forward not back.
This man should not be refereeing top level football.
This is the ídiot who disallowed the Pedro Mendes goal, went to award Hibbert a yellow card until Gerrard grabbed him and then he put the yellow away and pulled out a red, didn't card Kuyt for a waist high lunge on Phil Neville (in the same game!!), denied Joleon Lescott a stonewall penalty in injury time (of the same game!!!!!!!!!!!). At half time of a Bolton v City game he asked the City bench how they cope with Craig Bellamy all week.. Then he booked Bellamy twice in the second half (sent off for diving even though it was a blatant foul!), suspended pending an investigation in racist comments, questions Lallana's attitude after he played for England (accusing him of changing), his numerous errors in the Leicester game go without saying..
Furthermore, in his last 6 United games he had red carded 3 players and awarded 5 penalties against United.
This is a man who compounds error with further errors..
He should be sacked!!!!! I don't care what arguments Mike Riley makes for human error, Tesco just sacked half their senior management for one instance of human error!
@French
You are forgetting about his shoddy decisions in Arsenal vs City game earlier in the season.

If you think that Clattenburg was bad, check out our referee from last night. Those who didn't watch the game will probably laugh at me here when I say this but I kid you not, there were six, I repeat SIX legitimate claims for a penalty for us last night and we didn't get one of them. At last five of them were stonewall penalties and the other was a 50/50.
You seem to be focusing on Clattenburg but when he's the best of a bad bunch, there's a issue here.
They wern't complaining when he gave them the game at Chelsea in 2012. Some of the worst referring ive ever seen and his decisions ended the game as a fair contest.
Referee , leader, legend - were the words one Man Utd banner described Clattenburg as in the next game at Chelsea. Ooops
