More chance of Utd putting away their patriarchal and sexist tendencies and starting a women's team to win number 21 than their current shower.

Totally sexist club.

The flaw in that one Mamda is United and Liverpool's recent history (and well medium term for Liverpool over 2 decades now) so apart from the main point it works

Even heard ex Liverpool call them just a cup team these days, not quite up there with the league winning clubs anymore.

In fairness though you do punch above your weight for a midtable club in winning cups

The only reason Liverpool won the league is due to financial disparity. They came bottom a couple of years ago then went on a huge shopping spree

I watched that game and only Rooney was trying to score, Wilshere probably deserved a 1 out of 10. There must be stats in his game, at one point Wilshere had 5 england players to pass to and he poked it to an estonian player.

Honestly, its telling the only Man utd player playing who actually tried to take the game to the opposition single handedly gets criticised. Thats the England mentality, all the crap players who play for other clubs get off free. Watching the england midfield was embarrassing, Man utd reserve midfield is far stronger. I honestly don't know how Wilshere even has made in the england squad let alone the england team as Cleverley is way better.

Roy Hodgson makes Moyes look like a good judge of talent and team and manager.
..............
I was listening on the radio of the title race and Chelsea didn't have any cutting edge although there were supposed scrambles and the end shot was wayward when they did get the chances to win the title. Shame Birmingham also bottled it.

Omg, Mcnulty gave Wilshere man of the match.

It just shows you a couple of 30 yd passes to someone on right hand side edge of the box gets you man of the match for england but the simple 5 yd passes he mssed up about twenty times gets unnoticed.

Just seen this table:

This season we have taken 11 points from 7 games and last season we had taken 22 points from 14 games so averaging same points per game. We need to beat the big sides to make up points we dropped against smaller sides.

We had 10 points from 7 games. We should get our players back and hopefully do what under Moyes we didn't do and beat the big teams. Good job we won our last 2 home games otherwise it would have been a disastrous start. I always thought last seasons shocking form against big teams meant that to get into top 6 we needed a higher points tally then usual.

To get a truer meaning of those stats why not use the same number of games?

Or go a bit further and remark on like for like teams played against.

Hafi, the master of statistics spin.

We had 10 points from 7 games last season as I mentioned in my previous post I can excuse some of the dropped points for Van Gaal as against Burnley Sunderland Leicester shocking refs denied us of a chance of winning all 3 and Swansea also got away with rugby tactics and a big handball save to at end.

The reality is we just beat Everton a 6 pointer from last season we lost. If we win against teams like Tottenham Everton Arsenal and Liverpool at least one home game each we will have a great chance. We can make up the points we lost against the small teams by doing damage to the bigger teams.

I think next 5 games if we win them all we will be title challengers, if we only win 2 of next 5 games our target is 4th or 3rd spot at best.

posted on 13/10/14

This season looks like 73 points will be enough for 4th as the teams like Tottenham Everton Liverpool Arsenal dropped silly points already that they weren't really doing last season. Our challenge was to overcome these 4 sides and finish 3rd as that is what the financial figures are relying on.

Goals galore
Liverpool are the first team since Tottenham in 1962-63 to score more than 100 league goals and concede more than 50 in the same season
Liverpool had not conceded 50+ goals in a 38-game top-flight season since 1914-15

Hafi

You say Liverpool, Everton, Arsenal and Spurs are dropping silly points. Has it somehow bypassed you that United dropped points against Swansea, Sunderland, Burnley etc?

posted on 14/10/14

I know we dropped a lot of points and have hard games coming up but I am just saying unlike last season our rivals for top 4 also dropped points against the smaller teams and the likes of Man city 1-1 Chelsea Arsenal 1-1 Tottenham Liverpool 1-1 Everton have helped us a lot meaning less points for our rivals to achieve dropping 2 each.

Last season Chelsea won that fixture, Arsenal won that fixture and Liverpool won that fixture all our main top 4 rivals.

posted on 14/10/14

Thats why I say added with the unexpected drop points of top 4 rivals we are lucky to be in a great position of 4th after our injury crysis and squad change. The table is compressed more then usual. 73 points should be enough for 4th unlike the 79 points needed last season.
