Not creating enough, agree.
Still our strikers aren't clinical enough for a top side, though.

They are as wasteful as other strikers in the Premier League.

Statistically incorrect.
This season, according to WhoScored, Danny Welbeck has been the 14th most clinical forward in the Premier League - clinical being shots to goals ratio

Look give up Gunther. Giroud is done. The guy who costs us in the big games is gone. The guy who is slower than Mertesacker is finished. The who has single handily ruined Ozil is dead.
good player, but he isn't refined.
I want welbeck to succeed here but, if I'm being honest, if we want to compete with the best, there are big doubts whether he will be good enough, even considering his potential.
Has been very impressive, and proved me wrong, so fair play. I can't see him improving much into one of the best though, what you get now is probably what you will get the rest of his time there.
" I can't see him improving much into one of the best though, what you get now is probably what you will get the rest of his time there."
Probably true.
I don't like writing off young players, you look at the likes of Henry and RvP - they hardly set the world alight at 23, BUT you could see the potential there. The base of a top footballer - touch, control, passing, dribbling, shooting - it's just refining that and building the decision making, the composure, the experience on top to become a top player.
Don't really see that in Welbeck.

Would absolutely love to be wrong on this one.
Think he's got a brilliant attitude, will never complain, will run until his heart stops, and he definitely will improve.
Will he become a top level striker, though? For me probably not.
Not that it's impossible, of course.
Always thought Sturridge was pretty awful until he went to Liverpool.
In fairness, I can still remember that game against Chelsea where Kanu scored a hat trick. Thierry Henry came on as a sub, received the ball and ran it out of play like a donkey. I wrote him off there and then, along with my dad (tbf I was about nine y.o at the time).
Needless to say he proved me wrong
Not for one second saying Welbeck will ever be as good as Thierry, but I'm willing to be patient to see how far he can go. He has the attributes to be a very good striker, let's see if Wenger's still got it.
Sturridge's talent was clear to see, even in his Man City days.
I was worried he wouldn't fulfill his potential at Chelsea (bit of a double edged sword, that one ), he looked so greedy. There was always a feeling in the back of my mind that we'd regret not challenging Liverpool for his signature.
Yeah I get you, Tu Meke, but you could see Henry's talent from the start imo, even when he took what seemed like forever to score.
I just don't see it with Welbeck. What are his best attributes? He's not overly fast, not got great control or first touch, doesn't often take defenders on successfully, he's not really a goal poacher, he doesn't really score from range?
I compare that to Theo is similar but very quick, and a better finisher, and wonder why we don't just play him through the middle?
Don't get me wrong - think he's an OK signing for £16m but some of the expectations or hopes from fans seem a bit high.
Welbeck's build gives him the edge over Walcott for the lone role, his strength allows him to hold onto the ball better. He will give the ball back 80% of the time if you give it to him when he is on his own. But then you are probably already aware of that.
Walcott isn't interested in any of that, he just wants to make runs and receive the ball when he can shoot straight away. He can only play up front if it's alongside another, he'd spend most of his time drifting to the wings anyway. But then that brings it back to Wenger's tactical inflexibility.
I've been intrigued about how Walcott says he's been bulking up while injured, but that's just a hope really, the best we can hope for is that he'll be more or less the same when he returns.
As I say, I wouldn't write Welbeck off just yet. You're probably right, more than likely he'll be above average for us, but you never know. I need to start watching him properly

Yeah, this is true. The ball does tend to bounce off Walcott when he's played up top by himself.
An ok player with a decent attitude.
Already wildly overrated by some of our fans.
I think because Giroud and Sanogo are so poor Welbeck is a nice change, he's somewhere between the two really - works hard like Sanogo + just about passes for a footballer like Giroud.
Sturridge combined with your medical staff would have been a match made in hell.
Welbeck is 100% better than Giroud so thats a plus.
I agree completely with Tu Meke
I remember Anelka's 1st few games, i think they were away games in Europe cos Bergkamp couldn't fly
And apart from winning corner kicks i thought he was shocking and couldn't believe all the hype(he was compared to Maradona before we signed him)
But he sure as hell proved me wrong.
Welbz has been decent thus far, but there is still a lot of room for improvement but unlike Giroud, he has the ability & potential to improve.
If I am honest I cannot decide between him and Giroud...
If pushed I think I would go with Giroud as he seems to offer more in build up play and is better in the air...
but its close, they are both very ordinary players if the truth be told.
He has scored goals for us already that Giroud could only dream of.
He is nothing special but he is only young, I expect him to score 25+ goals in all competitions this season, providing he stays fit and Giroud stays injured.
He has been a waste of space in the big games. Absolutely shocking v Dortmund and Chelsea especially.
Whenever Gunther mentions Girouds 22 last season the argument is none were in the big games. Yet some seem delighted by Welbeck no shows as he scored against the mighty Hull and Villa...
How many big games has Giroud played in without doing a thing? Welbeck has been good in some games, shít in others, pretty much like everyone else in our squad with exception to Alexis.
I will give him time before jumping on his back, we are meant to support our players, not blindly abuse them without reason and write them off almost instantly because of petty agendas.
I suppose that's the difference between you and I
Blindly abuse him? He has been crap for 6 years, blind faith is not changing that.
It is funny that people are defending him for the same things they attacked Giroud for, even changing their usernames to anti - Arsenal ones...
The same people, I may add, who absolutely caaaanted Sheriff John Brown and Welbeck off when SJB suggested we should sign him.
I guess some are more fickle than the rest of us.

So how has Welbeck been getting on?
