not good enough?? Have you watched him play?
Point number one is he is not a striker!!!!!!! In the on-on-one he hit the post.....in fact he hit the post twice last night, how is that wasteful. The majority of the shots came from Bennett last night, I would say that from a midfielder thats not good, they should have been coming from the "strikers".
at the moment bennett is the only one who shoots from outside the box, he's a livewire and always trying to make things happen, we missed somebody like him on saturday i think theres plenty to come from him yet. agree he SHOULD have scored the 1 on 1 and that would have won us the game but id rather he score those in the league
Whenever I've seen him play, he's been the most exciting player on the pitch. He looks to attack every time he gets the ball, is not scared to take people on, or let fly when he gets sight of goal.
It's been few and far between that our players are prepared to take responsility and shoot instead of getting to the edge of the six yard box first. Good on yer Kyle, keep it up. You'll do for me.
The sky reporter at the match, Chris Kamara thought Kyle Bennett "looked a bit special"
I dont know if this article is intended to be a mickey take but as has been but anyone who was at the match last night could plainly see that Bennett was outstanding (except for the blip in the last minute when he lost the ball on halfway when he was last man).
He was unlucky with the one that hit the post in the first half and had done everything right in my opinion and could have had three or four goals in the game with a little luck.
The header at the start of the second half brought a great save from their keeper as did his run and shot in the first half.
Yes, he is an exciting player and i would back him to get ten goals for us this season.
Just out of interest Secondroversboy, how many strikers do you know who always score when one on one with the keeper?
Secondroversboy dont tell me, you believe that Wilson is our best midfield player, Woods is a secure and safe keeper who dominates his penalty area and that Sam Hird can pass a ball.
I think Bennet is already better than a certain coverted player and the lad will improve.
Predictable but boring Lanzo. Thats your comment of course, not the player.
Kyle Bennet is already drawing the attention of the bigger boys. The lad has got class and will get better with every game. Get him on a contract extention now its money in the bank for the future. !
Just watched the highlights of the Leeds game and SOD'S interview. I think he's right in what he says. Bennett should have scored the one on one although his other two attempts were unlucky. Is it me or did SOD seem a little despondent? There were some positives to take from the game though. Hayter coming back into the team and scoring. Stocky and O'connor coming on towards the end although SOD said they're a while off being match fit yet. Also has anyone seen that Jordan Mutch has broken his ankle? I've just read it on sky sports. Gutted for the lad i know Chris Hughton is a big fan of his and he was featuring regularly for Birmingham. Finally, Martyn Waghorn has been told he can leave to find another club on a free with Bristol City and Sheffield Wednesday reportedly being interested. I think he'd be a good one to look at for the future, he's only 21 and in my opinion is a decent prospect.
Bennett is a amazing find and will easily sell for around the million pund or more mark in a few years and thats why we need SOD hes the perfrect manager for DRFC find em small sell em big not spend all our money on 1 player sell em for less and have a even smaller club. look at dumbuya he was also great last night and all the over careers hes changed jordan mutch, ryan mason, lua lua, JET and not forgetting Billy Sharp
Coppinger, Guy, Barnes and Bennet are all in the same category. Young men with loads of ability who started at a big club and fell at the final hurdle of developement. They should take a leaf out of Copps book - listen to the manger, concentrate on playing in a team game, don't be afraid and don't be cocky. Mostly have belief in their ability.
A lot of people have lauded Barnes for some time and he undoubtedly has loads of talent and ability and opportunities. Maybe he has had too many injuries, but I would say, with the right guidance and luck and perseverance he could still play at the very top.
Remember West Ham? I thought Bennett was class before he got subbed, this lads like a rough diamond, he's got the attributes, once he's been cut into and polished, he'll be an established championship player (if not a League 1 starlet)
