Ozil's a flop and Klopp would do a decent job for you

Why do we want players who only performs under special circumstances, a £40m player has to perform to a high level week in week out.

posted on 3/11/14

Doesn't really matter how talented he is if he's rubbish for us though. His injury might be a blessing, he can rest after the world cup and come back fresh then he's got no excuses.

I can see that rule anywhere. Anyway, forget the price tag, you didn't pay it. If he cost £10mil you would want him starting every game.

but is he the most talented to wear the shirt ..ever? even at his best at Madrid was he really that good?

For me his body language is wrong. He does not seem to enjoy playing in the Prem. He needs to adapt to the physical nature of the Prem.

So far I would have to say that he has not justified his fee or even half his fee. If the right offer came along to ship him out we should take it and move on.

The~Distinguished~Englishman

His assist stats are insane. Arguably no other player his vision as good as him in the final third. Iniesta, maybe Cesc. Pirlo, Xavi and Alonso from deeper.

His body language is a worry, which is why the fans need to get behind him!

The one thing he seems to have lost is his dribbling ability, that needs to change.

Firstly he is far too weak for the prem so needs to get on the weights.

Fans need to stop making excuses for him. He has been with us for long enough now

He has been out best player on numerous occasions. Fans seem to only remember his worst performances.

posted on 3/11/14

Ok put it this way, for 42M he needs to be bringing MOTM performances on a regular basis.

Unless he comes back with a bang, it could go down as our biggest flop of all time.

The talent is there but it's time to deliver

The price tag is irrelevant.

You wouldn't drop an under-performing £40mil player for a over-performing £3mil player would you? Unless the cheaper player genuinely was better.

All i'm saying is he has performed far better than most would have u believe and still has time to reach his best. There is nothing to be gained from hounding him out of the club.

I don't want him out of the club. However, wenger doesn't fancy him in the middle so if he is not going to play him there, where does he actually play as he is more of a hindrance to us out wide?

You can count them on one hand, he's been our worst player more times than that! How many times has he done something amazing or played well against a big team?

9 bit I can't say I agree.

Have any of our current players excelled in a big game?

posted on 3/11/14

Agreed about that Castor. He has to play centrally, not sure what Wenger's aiming for with our current system if Im honest.

Andre but that's why his pricetag is important, for 42m he was meant to take us to the next level but he's flopped so far. So many games where he's contributed literally nothing, usually against top teams or big games. Sanchez has already done more for us so far.

To be perfectly honest, apart from make those around him look better or energized, Ozil in an Arsenal shirt doesn't fit into the class of Henry and DB, or even Fabregas just yet. Perhaps, he's still living off the legendary status he gained at Real Madrid. Maybe he needs Walcott?

Sorry I agree with 9bit.

For me, Ozil has been a disappointment, and I've grown a bit tired of hearing 'wait until he settles into the EPL/plays in the right position/has decent team mates.'
I'm just not seeing this quality he oozes, apart from occasional flashes. Nowhere near consistent enough, and not exciting enough.
How are we supposed to 'get behind him'? I agree, no booing or appalling insults here, but it's hard to cheer on his performances or sing his name when he's mostly invisible.

For me, though it appears he hasn't lived up to the hype and price tag, I feel him being in the team alone galvanizes those around him and shuts up the press about not having "world class" players. Didn't we win our first silverware in a long time with him in the team? I'll take that anyday.

posted on 3/11/14

Oxtail, he was our worst player on the pitch in the cup final and his body language was so bad. There's been games where he's holding us back instead of helping us because he keeps losing the ball, but he was starting to play well before he got injured so the timing was unlucky.

posted on 3/11/14

Ozil is a great player and has the ability to play the killer pass to break down a defence. The problem is he needs runners to play the ball to and we don't have many of them at Arsenal.

Ozil deserves all the criticism he gets. Plenty of people have been making excuse after excuse for him - I am one of those people.

It comes to a stage where you can only make excuses for so long. Everything is now in place for him to become the player he was at Madrid when he comes back from his injury. Alexis has settled in England and Walcott should be back in the team. I also expect Welbeck and hopefully Ramsey to improve. We have everything in place to get the best out of him but if he comes back and plays the way he has been for most of 2014 then you can't blame people for criticising him.

That being said, it is WAY too early to even consider cashing in on him, because he is an unbelievable talent and he CAN do it in England, he has had some fantastic performances for us so I don't buy the "he doesn't suit English football" theory.

Wenger on the other hand - he's been in decline for nearly a decade. He's had enough chances and should definitely go.

Reminds me of arshavin, made far too many excuses such as 'playing out of position'. End of the day he just didn't cut it, we are seeing the same thing with ozil.

posted on 3/11/14

Arshavin never played in his correct position. The difference is that this team has been built for Ozil to excel in and he isn't doing it. Arshavin never really had a place in this team after 6 months.
