He's a victim of Wenger's inability to fix weaknesses in the squad, bit like Giroud. Not a terrible player but not at the level required so people direct their criticism towards him.

Got nothing against him, in fact I quite like him, but he is not good enough to be playing as much as he has been. Adds NOTHING going forwards which you have to these days, at least regarding short passing. His position is definitely the weak point of our XI.

Nothing against him but he wouldn't get into any of the top 6 let alone top 4.

It's a scandal that he is still our DM.

He is the worst DM to play for us alongside alex song, to think we used to have Gilberto

Perhaps the seemingly need for that traditional "number 6" has put his performances under the microscope,

A traditional #6? A CB?

Fook it. I'm gonna start wearing shawls.

Flamini was decent when he had his boys Cesc, Rosicky and Hleb.

Truly washed up now

Some can label them 4 also, but usually, in the diamond formation, 6 plays DM. I think 4 & 6 are sometimes used interchangeably for DM and CB. But with regards to a 4-2-3-1, the two "Holding Midfielders" are usually termed "double-sixes". Look it up and let me know.

DJ you never returned? I take that as you're not as smart as you thought.

Didnt realise you had to reply instantly...

Arsenal #6s have been the likes of Tony Adams, John Roberts, Terry Neill... Cannot think of an Arsenal midfielder who wore number 6.
Claude Makelele wore number 6? Nope, that was 4.

Six is traditionally the number worn by a CB. 1- Keeper, 2 and 3 full backs, 4 and 8 CM, 5 and 6 CBs, 7 and 11 wide midfield , 9 and 10 up front.

That had been the tradition in England since 4-4-2 took over as the main tactic in this country.

You are basing your assertion on teams such as England and Arsenal? That's not accurate. Check out Brazil's teams over the years and you'll be amazed who wore what.

I will suggest you read up on formations and proper numbering rather than who wears what. Didn't Gallas wear No. 10 at some point?

Also you have misunderstood the 'double sixes' thing, which refers to 6 defenders (back 4 plus the two CMs) plus 6 attackers ( the same two CMs plus the attacking three and striker) in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

What Flamini adds is tha the is the workhorse when Ramsey isn't playing. Both will regularly cover 10 kilometres in a game or thereabouts and normally one or other of them will be the top for ground covered in a game. The problem is that both of them together are too mobile and its easy to leave gaps which leave us exposed. This may even be why Wenger switched to the 4-1-4-1 formation.

But a someone said a "traditional" 6 was always a CB. It was a traditional 4 that played in midfield. Bloody lids who think they know it all.

Gallas wearing ten is not an example of traditional squad numbering. Not sure you understand the term traditional tbh.

Under appreciated? Lol the guy wouldn't look out of place at Burnley

Just to add, you are talking about the traditional no 6 at Arsenal in England so it is the tradition here that is important. Wtf has S America got to do with English tradition?

But when you say traditional #2 you know you mean RB, tradional #9 a striker etc. So when you say 'traditional number...' you are referring to positions... You spazmoid.

Not sure how many other teams in the PL Flamini would get in to. Burnley, maybe Sunderland?
