Is Giroud one of the worst Arsenal players?

I would have definitely taken Giroud over Torres last season and the season before after the Sturridge sale.

One of the worst ever in the history of Arsenal? No.

Giroud doesn't belong on a list with the likes of Christopher Weah and co to be fair.

He's pretty shoddy mind.

I think he is the range of above average not very good player but certainly not poor as he can do a job as a lone striker!

He's crap tbh. I'd take Torres over Giroud anyday.

Mr Chelsea

IMO any comparison between the two, should be reflective of price and contribution:

Giroud £12m, 102 appearances - 41 goals.
Torres £50m, 110 appearances - 20 goals.

While Giroud has his limitations he certainly represents better value that Torres.

Haha Mr Chelsea getting owned What should Suart Pierce do!

I had him in Fant teams last term & he performed pretty well
He's not Sanchez, but then neither is Podolski

Not really a fair comparison to bring value in to it, the comparison was being two players, not the value they represented. Torres is clearly terrible value but this discussion was about players on the pitch, not an investment in the club.

Fair point Stuart.
You also could take into consideration that Arsenal on the whole are a team that have more of the ball and have been setup to attack whereas ourselves especially in the last 2 years have played with a very low block defending line. Not exactly set up for a striker to thrive really. This season, playing higher up the field, more of the ball and the goals are coming a lot easier for our striker. Not to say Torres would be replicating Costa's form or anything. I stil wouldnt take Giroud tbh.

Let's face facts....me buying an Aston Martin just to go to the golf club would be better value than Torres...

Bet I couldn't even get my clubs & trolley in the boot either

IMO Torres is a vastly superior player to Giroud; however his spell at Chelsea just didn’t work out.

Even if Giroud‘s transfer fee was in the realms of £40/£50m his contribution to Arsenal vastly surpasses Torres’ impact for Chelsea.

Take the value out of it if you want, still both had around 100 games and Giroud scoring twice more.
Btw, I'm not a fan of Giroud but saying that the Torres from Chelsea is better that is just taking the pi$$.

Sheriff

If you consider both players’ entire careers, Torres is undoubtedly the better player.

When Arsenal spent £12m on Giroud most knew that he was not a world class forward. When Chelsea paid £50m for Torres they would have expected world class performances.

IMO to compare both players contributions to their respective clubs the price paid is imperative.

I wasn't comparing them mate....are they even the same age...?

Not sure Torres has been that good in Italy so far either - I think he was a lot quicker at Ath Mad & Liverpool, he got injured & lost his main weapon - initial speed over ten/fifteen yards

The writing was on the wall after that

Giroud also cheated on his wife and I wouldnt want any players like that to be associated with our club.

I didn't say he was better, in fact I gave no opinion on how the two compared, just pointing out that it was the players being discussed, not the transfers.
