Much appreciated Strett,

Should be a decent game too, I reckon 2-2. By the way, one of my lads has just started uni in Notts; absolutely loves the place.

I was a nipper living in Leceisistershire when this happened and remember the news reports vividly.

I am sure that both sets of fans will respect the commemorations.

I remember them quite well. My work took me to Birmingham most weeks back then and there was definitely a frisson about the city for some time after the dreadful events. Even back in Nottingham people were wondering where next on the mainland would they attack next.

However I have to ask why is this event taking place? Is it part of a city wide commemoration? Were people from the club in the pubs concerned? I would have thought that black armbands for the players would be enough.

I apologise for any offence I may be causing by asking these questions and I shall of course observe a minutes silence or whatever the club ask for its just that I sometimes think that the connection between clubs and tragedies like this can be a bit tenuous

It was quite a major terrorist attack and Brum being one of three clubs located in the city, along with the Baggies and Villa, are an important focal point for the community so should always take the lead on such things IMO.

There should be upwards of 4000 Reds there on Saturday I would expect and I'm sure the roll call, which I believe is being read out at half time, will be properly respected.

It's a 40 year anniversary, Red for 50 yrs. I would've thought that'd be enough reason.

I was in the Army at the time I remember this well just before Christmas when all the pubs were packed.

Also the culprit's have never been caught. As those originally convicted have subsequently all been acquitted on appeal after serving considerable terms in Prison.

A really vicious and nasty crime, we should all respect this.

RFB, just because they were acquitted on appeal doesn't mean they weren't guilty.

The Police seriously screwed up the matter because of dubious methods of obtaining information/evidence.

Cstander do you seriously think the British Govt would ever let someone out of jail, let alone a terrorist, if they had the slightest inclination that they were involved in the crime?
You must be living in a dream world
