Sunderland are also a bogey team for Man City but they were thrashed by City at Stadium of Light!

Maybe you're not as good as the media make out.

Or maybe teams drop their shorts for City? Seems like it.

Its only been like that in recent weeks. They're currently in better form which is why teams are finding them tougher to play against. 2 months ago you wouldn't have made this article

Its very simple really,

oL smarty pants pants boris has a point, but he is not bright enough to explain it correctly,( bless him).

City are the better squad, due to FACT that they have been together longer and possibly are stronger in depth, but this is not rocket science and nothing new to the average minded follower of the EPL.

This Chelsea squad is two seasons behind this current City squad in terms of development .

As Boris did correctly point out the media would have you believe that this CFC squad were the finished product in one moment and in the next a team in crisis.( its good for sales)

But the truth is this CFC squad is progressing, it has had an excellent start and so have CITY.

Going forward the aim for CFC will to match City result for result and just hope the goal difference doesn't widen to much.

If both sides are still close come April ,it may be possible to believe CFC with Jose and his knouse will edge City and his excellent side.

Cannae argue with that.

Chelsea simply have to kill teams off,and not go for 1-0 ,,,,,,,,,easy as that???

Theblue, yeah, it seems to me that City started slower than us and its levelling out.

The City squad is the senior squad out of the two, but as we match them , which we can imo no problem , it will be down to the manager and what he can squeeze out of them , my moneys on Jose, but it would be !

We are ahead of City with a game in hand, Who here would have took that going into Christmas? I would have took City's position right now before the season started so we are in a good position, Let's go 3 clear though!

There is simply no evidence supporting the OPs claim. City played well today and won, end of.

Both teams have scored same amount of goals and Cityvhave drpped points at home to Stoke and away to QPR........article is a myth

Not that history dictates the future, but it does seem worthwhile pointing out the 2011-12 season when City started on fire. Even better than Chelsea have started this season.

(After 16 games in 2011-12, City had 41 points. This season after 16 games, Chelsea have 39 points).

City ended up winning the title, after almost blowing it because of United's form in the latter part of the season (United ultimately couldn't maintain their form, thus enabling City to win the title.)

My point being - Chelsea's start to the season has been superb and this could prove decisive come May. City will drop points, and are in a sense fortunate that our injury "crisis" has coincided with a relatively easier run of games, and even though we've caught up with Chelsea in terms of points (albeit City currently having played a game more) I do get the feeling that this season the title will be won on fine margins.

Don't forget, we (City) still have to go to SB, whereas Chelsea have got the game at the Etihad out of the way (and done so without losing any ground at all).

I still favour Chelsea for the title. However, lose at Stoke in your next game and that does hand the initiative to ourselves. But it's still very early days.

Fair analysis Ripley, and we must win, live on Sky,this Monday.

If we don't beat Stoke then we probably don't deserve to win the title, This is one if them games (Game in hand) that goes a long way in the title race, Win and we maintain momentum, Lose/draw and inconsistency could set in from now into the 2nd half of the season.

------------------

No single game should ever be regarded in such a way. That is - "don't win x game and we don't deserve to win the title". That kind of comment is nonsensical in my humble opinion. Chelsea can lose on Monday and still "deserve" the title.

It's a league, played over 38 games. One game doesn't decide which team is deserving of winning the title.

posted on 20/12/14

The result agst Stoke will not determine which team deserves to win the tittle or not, the total points after 38 games will do that and that is the only measurement that can....

Isolated analysis of a particular 90 minutes segment of football can not tell you which team deserves to win the title

tco, rubbish!

ATM the moment Lampard's equaliser against us and and our inability to close out the game against 10 men still feels significant, but by 38 games it may be totally forgotten.

posted on 20/12/14

We lost to Stoke because they were by far the better team on the day, it didn't mean it was the end of our season.

Things may swing in City's favour slightly over the next few weeks as we don't have any COC games to worry about and our injured players should be starting to return to fitness.

posted on 20/12/14

Well. Poyet did say that his side were tired after our game. So perhaps we're just tiring other teams down so that they go and get beat the following game?

Man. City is keeping the pressure on Chelsea. The question is: "Will Chelsea eventually hit a bad streak?".

posted on 21/12/14

I would nt mind city taking the glare of the lights at the top for a while Sometimes its all a bitl like the tour de france , stay in the slip stream ....and then make a final burst for the finish when the leader of the pack is tiring ( media keeping the pressure up ) it wont be a disaster if we concede top spot for a month or so

posted on 21/12/14

I didn't watch the game, but Man City are much more composed in the final third than we are. They keep the ball very well and the likes of David Silva and Samir Nasri are experts at finding the right ball to open up a parked bus of a defence.
