Ok fair point.

Should probably include someone like Gullit as well then.

Because they were not as good as the players named.

Nigel Martyn, back in the days when England had decent keepers.

does michael owen's fluke medal count?

posted on 3/1/15

Of course it counts.

He has a premier league medal so is disqualified. Unlike Gerrard.

I'm going on enjoyment to watch so bit biased here but a case for all and some real quality;

------------Given---------------

Jones, Carra, Hyypia, Bjornebye

---------Mascherano---------------

------Gerrard Alonso--------

I'm assuming you enjoyed watching Carragher for the comedy value?

The likes of Nigel Martyn and Tim Flowers would walk into the number 1 shirt for England now IMO. Not sure why some have included Carragher over Hypia, he is ridiculously over rated, Sami was easily the more accomplished player, but then he isn't English.....

Kevin Doyle and Stephen Ward should be in for a start.

Don't think George Elokobi has enough pace so only a spot on the bench for him betweeh Fabregas and Dave Edwards.

Can you include Bale in there? He's barely to his mid twenties.

posted on 3/1/15

True but when players like Le Tissier and Ginola make the list, despite not being in Bale's league, I think it's fair enough.
