So he didn't score against the fellow top 3-4 sides so what its not like we do anything against them otherwise. He scores against inferior opposition you say? Well we could have done with him against Hull, Swansea, Spurs ect this season due to our wide players (apart from Alexis) being absolutely rubbish at scoring goals or end product to that fack. Oxlade makes these great runs taking on players but he he gets near the box he gets a nose bleed.

Give me end product instead of this fancy dribbling that gets us nowhere.

El Cap - he had 1 good game in 6 months as hes only started 2 games since summer u fool. Hes not our saviour but he was treated like dross by Wenger.

Its a bit of a shame to see he go, he's clearly talented and if utilised properly (starting more home games against lower opposition and actually being brought off the bench to change a game we're losing) could have been a success with us.

However the manager clearly doesn't like something about him, so bearing in mind because of that he offers so little whilst on huge wages.

Whilst Wenger has made a mistake by signing him, giving him those wages and not using him well, at least he's being proactive for once trying to ship him and not just sitting on his hands over this

He's simply not good enough, fan favourite yeah but he's nothing more than the club joker. It's like paying gunnersauras 100k a week.

Don't want to talk about Podolski and his contribution in games. Everyone know what I am thinking about him.

Want to talk about the circumstancies, timing and way this loan move being finalised.

Player going out on loan and we havent no one coming in. You could argue that we have many replacements in his position.

The way we doing business is let me say odd. Regarding our injury list as a whole we are ready to let players go easily but we dont have no clue who we buy when the transfer window opens. In my view it's crystal clear what we need. By the end of next week we should have defensive cover. If not....

he had decent stats for a bit part player these days a goal every 3 games, his european record was decent too 8 in 14 games. With him going & Sanogo aswell, that leaves us with Giroud/Alexis/Theo, so another forward/striker will need to be brought in.

Pod will definitely set Serie A on fire...He is just not physically build for Prem. Best of luck to him.

Why does the linked article say that his contract runs out at the end of the season when he joined us on a 4 year deal until 2016? £1.5mil would be a facking joke if so.

Nevertheless, this and Sanogo out on loan hopefully means we get Cavani. Still need a new CB, DM and LW though.

A lot of people are missing the point. I don't think anyone is claiming podolski was a great player for us, just that he was a decent option to have. We are very prone to injuries and having someone like podolski to call apon would be very useful. Also in certain games if utilised correctly he is an effective player. There are many more players in our squad that are far more ineffective than him that should have gone. I'd much rather see sonogo, Campbell or Gnabry go on loan for example. Which would also benefit them as players

If we bring in more players to fill the squad up, that's fine. But knowing our atrocious injuries, and inability of most of our strikers to finish chances. Having podolski could have been useful for the rest of the season. Then we can let him go.

Also who cares if he only scored against smaller teams. You still have to beat those teams if you want to win anything in football. Many times we squander chances against smaller teams, and chelsea were out of the title race last season for not be able to beat small teams, whereas they where able to beat big teams. 3 points is still 3 points.

So anyway. I'm not a 'fanboy', neither are most people who are dissapontined to see him go. I think like many of our players he wasn't quite good enough. But he certainly wasn't totally useless like some of the squad players. If we bring in the right players then ok, I don't care that he's gone. But until then it's a risk.

The whole argument that he scores against small teams is a bit of a joke when you look at how our players perform in general against the likes of city, chelsea and Man U

The reality is that we are not going to bring in a striker because Wenger will saying the usual like " I have sanchez, walcott who are strikers"

Unless a top forward is brought in it just looks like it's classic Wenger again. Letting a player a go and not getting in a adequate replacement

I will be sorry to see him go. Hes a direct attacking player who likes the team to attack at pace as Arsenal used to. The problem is that doesn't fit with Giroud who gets the ball and waits for the defence to get back before doing anything with it, if not lose it in the meantime. Some call this from Giroud hold up play but I call it facking frustrating. Pod used to his strengths will give 30+ combined goals and assists. Add that to Theo, Sanchez, Ozil, Cazorla with a decent striker up front and I think Pod could be part of a devastating counter attacking team.

And whoever it was listed our remaining strikers forgot Welbeck

Remeber when was

Podolski - Giroud - walcott with Cazorla in behind them. That was the last time we played entertaining footy

Can't believe people are actually arguing for the case for Podolski leaving us.

Complete facking joke that people are making such a fuss about him going. Honestly seems like people just want to be angry with the club regardless.

Podolski is deadwood. He picks up a huge wage for near enough fack all in return - we wont get any worse not having him.

"The last time we played entertaining football" - is that a facking joke?? Perhaps in one or two games with Podolski we played entertaining football.... we've also played some facking atrocious football with Podolski. He's one of the most frustrating players we've ever signed. Lazy and limited. I'll miss the screamers, without a doubt. But on the whole, im glad he's going as it makes room for somebody that will feature more regularly. There is a reason Podolski doesn't.

2-1 vs Olympiakos (3-1 FT)
2-0 vs Fulham (3-3 FT)
2-2 vs Spurs (5-2 FT)
2-0 vs Montpellier (2-0 FT)
1-0 vs Reading (5-2 FT)
3-2 vs Newcastle (7-3 FT)
1-1 vs Swansea (2-2 FT)
1-1 vs West Ham (5-1 FT)
1-0 vs Stoke (1-0 FT)
1-2 vs Bayern (1-3 FT)
3-1 vs Norwich (3-1 FT)
1-0 & 3-1 vs Wigan (4-1 FT)
2-0 & 3-0 vs Fulham (3-1 FT)
3-1 vs West Ham (3-1 FT)
1-0 & 2-0 vs Coventry (4-0 FT)
2-0 vs Liverpool (2-1 FT)
1-1 vs Bayern (1-1 FT)
1-1 vs Swansea (2-2 FT)
1-1 & 3-1 vs West Ham (3-1 FT)
2-0 & 3-0 vs Hull (3-0 FT)
2-1 vs Anderlecht (2-1 FT)
1-0 & 4-1 vs Galatasary (4-1 FT)

You are painting a picture that he was just another Vela who padded his stats for us with token goals, but you couldn't be further from the truth. He scored plenty of vital goals for us, opening goals, winning goals, goals that put us in front, equalisers, clinchers.

If he scored goals in games we thrashed teams, it was mostly because he was so devastating in said games. For example the 5-1 vs West Ham when we were losing before he came up with a 30 yard screamer and 4 assists to follow. The 5-2 vs Reading on the back of a humiliating defeat to Bradford he opened the scoring and created plenty more. 5-2 vs Spurs he scored a crucial equaliser before half time then assisted Cazorla for our 4th.

He changed games off the bench when he should have been starting. Coming off the bench to score the winner vs Stoke. Changing the game at Upton Park last season when we looked dead and buried, assisted one then scored a scorcher. The season before we were 1-0 down with 5 minutes to play vs Norwich in a must win game and his introduction changed the game for us. Losing away to Swansea in the cup, when we looked bereft of ideas, again Podolski off the bench to save us. Last season at home to Swansea, again struggling, clueless, no idea what to do, Podolski changed the game for us.

He scored against the champions of Europe in 2 separate matches, he's scored in a NLD, he's scored against Liverpool twice, one of those so vital to us ending our trophy drought last season. His nod on for Koscielny's winner vs Newcastle on the final day stopped Spurs from finishing above us.

His record against United, City and Chelsea was shít but Walcott aside, who in our squad doesn't have a shít record vs them?

Fair enough he is not going to be a big loss for us this season and people are exaggarating his importance to the team but why you or anybody else would knowingly bullshít and try re-write history to try make a point is beyond me.

Pod's like Arshavin spending so long on the bench that ppl forget how poor he was to get dropped in the first place, and WOB's overrating him for another thing to moan at Wenger for.

posted on 3/1/15

Not surprised he has left, might have had an eye for goal, but overall contribution has been indifferent.

Welbeck and Sanchez can both play on the left and give far more than Pod ever will.

this argument is a joke. Podolski is not a striker, so why would we bring a striker to replace him? And why would we replace someone who hasn't started despite 4 AMs being injured for half a season? He is surplus to requirements, end of.

Your constant whining and moaning about Giroud in every article is really annoying. Your hatred is not normal. You really need help.

Mancini will try to turn him back into a striker and not the wing back, come midfielder ,stroke dogsbody ,that Wenger wanted him to be
