Car Parking Shambles

Do you have mobility issues Ramdini?

I always park in Chaddesdon, free and quick access to the A52 so I am on the M1 within 20 minutes of the game ending. Much quicker than queuing up at the car parks near the ground. It also has the added advantage in this weather, that the brisk walk gets your feet warm and thick socks then keep them warm for the duration of the game. Since the advent of all seater stadiums cold feet have always been a problem.

Quickest getaway though is Toys R us although it costs £4. If you park near the exit you can be away in less than 10 minutes from the end of the match.

I do realise that if everyone did this the problem would shift from around the stadium to where I park so I hope the club don't do anything to improve matters.

Only when our car is tangled up in the traffic shambles created by a road system designer of no conceivable intelligence. If you mean why don't we park elsewhere, it's because we believe in some sort of public order.

I never realised I was an anarchist for parking away from the ground and walking in. Wow, next I will be planting bombs.

Buy a house in Chadd and walk?

Your Engineer sounds like the same guy whomanages Wirrals road system. He removed two magnificently managed and efficiently sited to allow traffic to proceed and in the case of one, situated 400 yards from a very busy A&E and major Hospital, installed a multitude of traffic lights thereby halting several streams of traffic and also causing Ambulances, Police cars and Fire Engines to employ difficult and often dangerous manouveres in order to circumvent the chaos.
Most Planners appear to have been given a six inch rule and a set of do it yourself toy traffic lights and street furniture for Birthdays and Christmas.
I prefer to walk whenever possible.

Spart the park and stride anarchist.

How about the train and or bus, you can have a few more then or even cycle in, lot's of cycle stands outside PP. Job done everyone's happy.

I do not entirely disagree with the above comments. But they are missing the point. There is no reason other than incompetence why the design layout couldn't have been much better. After all, there was a clean sheet to start from.

I need hardly say, we can't all live in Chad.

Took me a lot longer to get away from Bolton with only half the attendance of the iPro. That is a nightmare. Leeds was rubbish even if you parked a good way from the ground. London clubs of course you don't even think about using your car.

Alvaston is just as convenient and much more affordable.

Would you rather there wasn't a car park there?

It has been shoehorned as an afterthought in rather than designed.

It was really easy to get away from the Baseball Ground in the 70s when we had 30,000 plus crowds wasn't it?

The good olde Rolls Royce Car Park to the BBG, the Park and Stride's that dreams are made of

It used to take 20 mins to get off the popside.

If I had my way, anyone living within 5 miles of the ground would be made to walk/cycle/bus it. 10 miles, park and ride only. The parking near the stadium should be kept for the exclusive use of those of us who HAVE to drive over 10 miles just to get there.

I used to park at my Grandma's in Chad, and walk in to the BBG. Now I park in Chad and walk into Pride Park after driving 150 miles.

And I'm a fat lard ass!

I walk to the ground, usually from Cherrytree Hill via the Park pub, and have newly-discovered the presence of a public bus from the bottom of Chadd Lane from which I may alight just up the road from Moor Farm.

That journey is 1.8 miles and costs £1.90; highway robbery the likes of which Turpin could only dream of.

666 on a public bus.............WTF

He'll be adopting orphans next.

I couldn't raise our lass on the phone and so, faced with the options of Shanks' pony or travelling up with the feral underclasses, I naturally opted for the one requiring least energy.

There was much less urine aroma than I had anticipated, although for £1.90 I rather hoped for at least a Lay-Z-Boy reclining chair to myself, and perhaps a small beverage.

I'd never park at the stadium unless one of us had mobility issues. I sampled it once, never again. Quicker and cheaper (free) to park away from the stadium and get a bit of exercise.

Who's laughing about losing limbs, Little Miss Sensitive? This is a discussion about the access to and from our football ground; by all means contribute something sensible to it (as you did above) but don't start banging on like some kind of crusader because nobody's fawning over your disability that we knew nothing about.

"MOBILITY ISSUES"
WHAT ON EARTH DOES THAT REFER TO THEN YOU TOTAL LOON?
What a pathetic response. I have one leg and one half of one arm. I am 68 Years of age. How dare you disrespect me and my ambitions and attempts to attend a football match at Goodison Park.
Grow up and hope you never have to suffer such a loss whether it be as a result of Conflict as in my case, or Accident, you very sad person.

Silky

Can you have a re-read of this thread and pull out the bits that have offended you?

That way we can discuss it without trying to make sense of your ranting.

posted on 20/1/15

Well, that escalated quickly.

The bits that offended me were being called a total loon, in uppercase, and everything Milf put.
