And this helps out the SPFL league, how?
It does show the best of British after all.......
Not sure what to say but yes, yes and yes...

RE Scandinavian systems.
Apart from Denmark, fu€k Denmark.
I like to exercise my free-speech by directing casual nationalism at random countries.
So the Danes can kiss my arsenal with their longboats, and their Kierkegaardian existentialism, exploring the nature of God, and their 'subjectivity is truth and truth is subjectivity'.
It can't be both can it?! It stands to reason
Also I hate them for their Danish bacon, enslaving the entire British nation to their, admittedly delicious and superior, foodstuff; they're nothing more than the Colombia of pork products x
Just think how much Sky and BT will make from advertising.
The way we share the tv money equally in the prem is great though.
As for talk of a European super league, who needs one.
We will create it right here in England
Great post by the O.P. Respect due.
The only thing so far I don't like about the deal, is the idea that the Money will benefit Grass root football, the Fans and the lower leagues.
Maybe this is the Critical time to bring in a Cap in Wages. Cos I fear like most have said, that the Money will end up in the pockets of the Players and Agents!
Am i right in thinking BT Sport lost out in the new TV deal?
....so as long as the stadia contain banners against political and FA sleaze and corruption.
... so as long as the stadia contain banners such as stopthebill.co.uk which is a petition against draconian over-the-top measures to alienate and demonise an entire religious minority.
..... so as long as we the British people can show the world through football coverage our inconsistencies in human rights such as participation in rendition flights and indefinite detention without legal representation under certain acts ...
....then I think this showcasing of UK is fair enough.

The pl doesn't give a feck about lower league/grass roots. That was the whole point of a pl. The top tier broke away to form pl in 1992 so that they could keep tv money themselves rather than distribute it between the four divisions.
Not sure this is a good deal for fans. Where is the extra money going to come from to pay these deals?
Increase in subscriptions? Not sure how long my free bt sport will continue?
A wage cap won't work and even if it did it would simply mean more,£££££ for the owners who hardly need anymore loot.
Wages will shoot up. It's what has happened every time the tv deal goes up.
The money will come from advertising

Romantic rubbish, but rubbish all the same.
Where were you when all the Ched Evans stuff was kicking off?
All the extra money will do is make rich men even richer and put an even greater divide between the top tier teams and those in the lower leagues. I highly doubt any of this money will effect ticket prices - the season the last, already huge, television deal went through Arsenal still put up their prices - let alone find it's way to grassroots football.
Obscene is as obscene does.
In some ways I can't wait for it all to come crashing down.
True Story MP... True Story.
You'd think at some point something's gonna break down... But it sure won't be the Premiership.
And I don't want to break either, but something's gotta give.
Scandinavia/Nordic countries are a utopia in someways, close to perfection really.
Go have a chat with Vlad ,he'd love you !
Lex - rather I think the media attention around Ched portrays perfectly well that in general our society condemns rapists, while also supporting the widely held belief that criminals can be reformed and integrated back into society.
The suggestion that sport isn't hugely influential is frankly hilarious.
Next you will be telling us that films and songs don't shape the world either x
Or perhaps you'll be arguing that the emergence of Afro-Caribean British players in no-way affected attitudes towards race x
Not sure how the new broadcasting deal represents a beacon of virtue or symbol of change.
Let’s be clear the £5.1b deal demonstrates the PL have a great product which broadcasters are willing to pay excessive amounts for so they can maximise profit.
Will the extra £35m available to most PL clubs be used to pay employees a living wage, or banish zero hours contracts? Will the additional revenue be used to subsidise ticket prices, so long serving and loyal fans are not priced out of the game? I doubt it.
A lot of the problems in the world today are a ripple effect of what the British have done in the past and now all of sudden we are the defenders of the universe because of our diverse football league?
wwspd - Really?! I just explained that in the op, that is literally what this article is about... let me make it simpler:
money money=better players=more viewers=greater exposure of British culture=greater influence of British culture
I don't think I can dumb it down any more than that x
Vic - you could definitely say the same thing about the USA, but I would argue Hollywood does a lot to promote the virtues of free speech and free enterprise, to name just two x

Or so my Grandad said.

The PL has been a fantastic product for 20 years, being broadcast to hundreds of countries across the globe. The new deal has done nothing to alter that.
It is believed the PL worldwide audience has already peaked. An extra £2b (up on previous deal) will not provide any greater exposure to the game, nor have any impact whatsoever to British culture.
