I'm a fan, prefer to see him in the side than not. He just needs time to adapt to the league as well. You get more time on t he ball in La Liga.

Decent player who stands out from the crowd of god awful United midfielders. Hasn't proved to be particularly consistant though - whether that's Herrara or LVG's fault remains to be seen

Good player, not sure he is quite as good as some make out, yet (reminds me of the Kagawa situation.... Everyone wants him to be great, but has quite done it yet, for UTD).

I'm very happy that he is getting game time though and think he can step up a gear or two and really prove his worth.

I just hope people offer Falcao the same leniency.

I'm a fan of both players and I hope all the Latin contingency are here next season.

If I had to lose one of that group, it would be Mata. Not Falcao, not Di Maria and not Herrera.

Mata?! You crazy...
We can find another striker, we need a play a maker..
There's no way I'd lose him and keep Falcao..
RVP defo needs to fly out. He's done..

Whilst I like Mata, he's of no use to us so long as Butthead remains at the helm

Only CM that puts his put in and willing to get hurt.

Good player

It's up to LvG to get the best out of players, it's not like it's his first season as a manager or first club.

I think he's a decent player in poor form.

At least that's what I'm hoping.

Herrera wasn't great last night (nor was he bad) but he was our best player over the previous 3 games.

He and Carrick will make a good partnership between now and the end of the season. Both very intelligent players with a decent passing range.

Herrera did make some easy errors. Simple passes, poor clearances and this bit of bite I hear about I'm yet to see, he is soft as feck on the ball.

I think he is more suited to a 3 man though, and I've seen him play some good stuff for Bilbao. It's maybe just a question of whether he can adjust to the PL.

I do question whether he is as good as many seem to think though. My opinion would be his style is the reason people want him to succeed so much, rather than his actual ability.

Which one of our players lost the ball that made Cisse counter attack us and miss horrifically?

Herrera. And it was a borderline foul.

Your point Arab?

Wasn't making one, I saw it on MOTD last night and was wondering who it was.

Herrera gave the ball away a lot, but so did a couple of others last night.

Thing is, do we want to take chances on the ball and risk losing it or do we want to keep hold of the ball and create less chances?

It's like fans want us to be perfect at everything in no time.

Last night, we were taking alot of chances to win the ball back, and it worked 95% of the time. Our high pressing was good, it will always be risky, but worth it, imo.

Tbf Macca, shinji said "Latin", not "Latin American"; We Spaniards are a Latin people, and so are the Portuguese. That's precisely where Latin America got its name, because the Europeans who colonised it were Latin peoples.

Agree, we just need the defensive midfielder / defence to stop the counters and the midfielders to create things.

For the amount of possession we had, we should have been creating a lot more than Newcastle, who actually had better chances than us.

I think we are taking steps in the right direction in terms of playing style though.

Yes.

We can't complain about 'sterile possession for possession's sake' and also complain about losing the ball from a risky pass.

It's about finding the right balance and about the team collectively attuning to that balance so they anticipate the passes, make the runs that the passer is hoping for. Hopefully we are getting closer to this.

Agree RR

I am seeing a similar issue with Rooney up top as RVP though, and the issue isn't the forwards.

Rooney made so many small runs in behind the opposition last night and the midfield just weren't willing to put it in behind.

Rooney kept possession well yet red reason was on here last night trying to convince everyone he was giving the ball away all night

Fair enough, my mistake.

I always considered Latin as South America.

I thought Rooney was good last night Macca, rusty in front of goal but much better than we have seen from RVP and Falcao in general play.

No worries, it's a common misconception, likely due in part to the typical portrayal of "Latinos" in contemporary American film and TV. Just ftr though, France, Portugal, Spain, Italy and Romania are all Latin countries.
