Don't know much about him, other that what I read last night concerning his U20 game for England v Mexico (where he won and subsequently converted the penalty)

Seems highly rated. Could be a good'un.

He is better than Thierry.

Quicker, apparently, anyway.

Not sure that's the most PC I've read on here

I see you have done an article on him on the Gooner Board

Good to hear because we needed someone badly.

Here's the team id put out against Wolves on Good Friday, given the extra days for our injuries to clear up a bit

Darlow
Lichaj Mancienne Wilson Kane
Burke Lansbury Gardner Antonio
Akpom
Fryatt

De Vries Lascelles Hobbs Osborn Paterson Barrow Blackstock

Barrow could be injured (or just not wanting to play for Sweden).

I'm feeing a bit reckless, so I would go with something like this:

-----------------Darlow
Kane - Lascelles - Wilson - Lichaj
--------------Gardner
-------------------------Osborn
Burke--------Lansbury
------------------------------ Antonio
-----------------Akpom

Impressive that we were able to persuade him to come to Forest with all the teams above us being able to throw more money at his wages as well.

Fraytt and Blackstock may be fit for the Wolves game so will be interesting to see the line up.

"Hardly prolific, 0 goals, and surprised you haven't anyone in your youth ranks to give a try at the same level as this guy"

The problem is that our main striker (Assombalonga) is out for a year, Fryatt is suffering from injuries and Blackstock picked up on against Norwich. That leaves with a youth prospect who is only just getting minutes in the first team (Des Walker's son Tyler) and Dutchman Lars who still hasn't settled to English football and is even behind Tyler in the team selection.

As such we need what we can get. The odd thing about the stats though is that a number of clubs seemed keen to bring him in, so they must see something.

Not a WUM by the way Ray, just seemed a little odd looking outside in that you wouldn't give one of your own a run out while you have nothing to play for

If we had been in mid table and Martin were injured I'd have preferred we played one of our youngsters than get someone elses player up to speed

I didn't take it as a WUM

The problem for me is that we are in danger of Tyler Walker being the first choice striker due to injuries and even with realistically little chance of playoffs; it would be a lot of the pressure for the lad who has been training with the first team for around a month and has about 20 minutes in the side so far. I still think he'll get a chance to have a run out and help his development, but it's early days for him.

We are in a totally different situation striker wise at the clubs from the days where we had 400 on the books and those in the U21's and academy didn't really get much of a sniff

I think Forest needed Akpom to give them options other than just throwing all their eggs in one basket with Walker. That might of been the sort of high pressure situation that could've been detrimental to him. Now he has someone of a similar age to provide competition I think it will do him the world of good. It also takes the pressure of the fans expectations off him a little as they have been growing (I've been as guilty as anyone)

Saw Des Walker at The Approach last night and, although he tried to down play it, you could tell he is very proud of Tyler and is very interested to see what he can do at Forest. Had to mention, though, that he beat Tyler in a foot race a couple of years ago despite giving away thirty odd years in age!

Didn't derby also try and capture Akpom on loan? With the amount of clubs that were after him, they must be seeing something in him.

Hopefully he can show that at forest in the last few games we have.

Was there a beer involved?

You never know how deep it goes with these things were a club are reported to be interested, we've had it vice versa with them a few times

Highly unlikely, just paper talk as with the majority of other strikers we've been linked with

Fans of the club who got the player will play up the interest a rival had the players, and fans of the rival will play it down. It's probably somewhere in the middle a lot of the time.

In most cases I'd agree but we already have a player at the same level in Thomas, both he and Akpom are both U20 internationals

Hence the unlikely we were interested comment

Odds on there was! Certainly had a taste for lager last night.

Just because Thomas and Akbom are in U21s it doesn't mean they are same level. If Thomas was so good I expect he would be on the books of a Prem side. I'd say it was pretty likely Derby were interested given the injuries they've had to Martin and Ince, and Russell proving he can't play centrally.

Give over Caniggia, they have one of the best prospects in the world and have been attracting lots of concrete attention from all over

Ah ok fair enough.
