No Carrick?!
Why is Rooney injured and Carrick fit?!
Another couple of snippets from Manchester United - Michael Carrick is again missing with a calf injury and Marcos Rojo has a groin problem.
Louis van Gaal was asked about his squad's extensive injury list: "There are many circumstances that you can find for the reason for the injury list. In the second part of the season we had fewer injuries. Then we have made the points.
"Injuries are part of the job. Football is a sport of resistance."
Does that mean Blind back at LB? Would be good if we could keep him in midfield. Rojo or Blackett at LB?
This side?
DDG
Valencia Smalling Jones Blind
Rooney Herrera
Mata Fellaini Young
RVP
Not a fan of Rooney in CM but against West Brom at home it shouldn't matter that much.
If Shaw and Rojo are out, blind drops to left back and Rooney probably goes to midfield.
I predict a disjointed performance.
I'm beginning top get the impression that our defenders sit together looking at medical journals convincing themsleves they have the symptoms of what ever injury happens to be on the page they open up at. We really need a drastic overhaul of our defence in the summer. It doesn't even look that good on paper at full strength but we usually have three or four out at once, and that has been the case for many years now.
We should buy some non injury prone defenders like Vermaelan and Hummels.
Well Robb, I didn't trumpet teh signing of either of those players and there are certainly other defenders about without shocking injury histories. Are you happy with our options at the back and their injury records?

Sorry mate, I didn't mean that to sound sarcastic to you. I agree our defenders are injury prone. Just a shame. I get the feeling ANY defender we sign will suffer the curse. We should dig up the pitch at OT and look for buried gypsy bones.
No worries. I know how text can be misinterpreted. There must be something underlying. Shaw had no injury problems at Southampton. Which makes you wonder if buying new defenders with decent records in the injury department would even solve anything
All the injuries are similar too.
Isn't one of LVGs big changes the training? And is that why the players are getting injured?
Seems strange that we get more injuries in training than in games

It has to be bad luck. Logic dictates that surely the medics can't be that bad. To be fair, so many injuries happen in the Pl compared to other top leagues. Must be something to do with the higher pace of the game combined with harder pitches and maybe even the cold.

Actually Shaw did get quite a few injuries at Saints, just look at physioroom. He's quite a big lad for his age, maybe his body struggles with his size?
He has a fat àrse. Probably something to do with it
Young should be left back tomorrow imo. Is a decent option there in a game we would expect to dominate. Blind midfield and Rooney up front or preferably benched. Nothing against him but if any other player was as poor as Wazza has been for the last 5 games they would have been benched by now.
